It's me again, already! Are you tired of me yet?
There's been a delay lately when making posts, and it seems like each post has been taking longer and longer to get approved, which really makes me worried about subscribestar. I'm likely on some kind of list where each of my posts needs to be manually reviewed before it can go live, which does not fill me with confidence.
That's all the more reason to move forward with Honeycomb though! Gotta get on itch and steam and show demo 2 to the world and become popular. As long as it's a modest success I can go back to working on Syrup Town without worry.
I may be able to start on card art tomorrow, but that means picking more outfits. Speaking of, time for Crimson Covenant, Severine's outfit. Which one's your favorite?:
Yo, yo, yo dayo!
Honeycomb Catacombs definitely still needs a lot of work, and one of the things I want to work on for the next demo is card art.
I had the rad idea to make cards exclusive to certain costumes use that costume in their art, which will help a lot of them stand apart. But that means I have to actually choose each characters costumes.
Thankfully, I have you guys! I have 18 polls total, some of them with more options than the others. I can't really wait 18 weeks to release the second demo, so I'll probably just wait a few days, post the next one, and then get back to work.
Real quick though, just as a reminder, I am not dropping Syrup Town. I may be focusing on Honeycomb for a little bit, because if Honeycomb succeeds I can afford to keep making games forever. So even if Honeycomb's not your jam I hope you can be patient with me for a little while before I add the big city in Syrup Town v14.
So, here's the first costume poll! Brienne - Siegeplate. An outfit that heavily focuses on dealing damage, damage, damage!
Who's over a week late with the update and has two thumbs? This guy!
You can't see it, but I'm pointing my thumbs at myself. So, real quick, what happened:

A demo with multiple act 1 routes and six characters, right now, for free, playable inside Syrup Town itself. So, uh, yeah. That about covers everything, so:

Note: Because Honeycomb has less elements that could get me in trouble on steam and itch, I plan on making honeycomb my steam target. This means for future releases I can probably lessen the censorship tightening on things like the Pikmin and subscriber batches.
My gosh, I forgot what it feels like to take a breather. I've been completely locked in on Honeycomb for over a week now trying to get it to a better and better state. I meant to do an extremely simple proof of concept, but it completely got away with me. Here's a screenshot I took on the 11th:

And here's what the game looks like today:

Yes, that's two weeks of progress, and there's a lot the still images don't convey, that mindbreak trigger isn't just one still image in game. You can play the demo RIGHT NOW on any version of Syrup Town with the button on the title screen.
I could have spent another two weeks polishing the demo and getting all of act 1 done, but it felt really bad making you guys wait so long, I'm very sorry for the wait and the silence. Every day I'd find some new critical bug in Honeycomb and you know how the story goes.
Before you ask, no, I am NOT stopping work on Syrup Town, I just didn't want to have to keep censoring the game, so I made an entirely new second game focusing on taller women, because as much as I love shortstacks I know they aren't to everyone's tastes.
There's a lot to do, but again, this was just two weeks. Pretty card frames, the enemies currently in game, the structure of it all, the progression trees, mechanics, full sets of poses for the main cast, etc. So hopefully you won't have to wait long. And I still plan on working on Syrup Town and doing jiggies for people in the meantime.
Thank you all so much for your patience. According to my neocities website I get over 700k visits a week:

But despite these numbers, to be honest I have been struggling financially, maybe because subscribestar is difficult for some of you guys to use, maybe because all of my games are free and the economy's tough right now, but I hope this game can take off and I can keep making games for you all forever.
Take care, I have an absolute ton of messages and posts to respond to, so I'll talk to you all again soon. Don't be a stranger!
