News & Update - A Masterpiece For The Ages

I finally received news from artist Turbun. I have received bits and pieces of the commission for the next CG scene of my game The Bodyguard Girl Is Too Strong Deluxe, and the work shown so far blows away everything they've previously done for the project.
It is so great, in fact, I've framed it in order to tease you with it.
There are some alternate layers still missing (for animation purposes) so I won't start work on it right away, and due to the artist's current situation, it is unclear if delivery can happen in time for a new build of the game this month, but the wait is definitely worth it.
---
Instead, my attention is turning towards a new build of Don't Flex On Me Yumi-Chan!!! I have a pretty clear vision of what the next episode is about, and I have been hiding an alternate version of an earlier CG scene to be used in an emergency. I think the time has come to take it out and make a new scene with it. I am certain you won't be disappointed.
This would mark the beginning of Episode 7 in the game. I originally wanted to create something similar to a whole season of an anime, aiming at 12 episodes, but right now I'm considering stopping at 8 or 9 episodes instead.
The character arcs could reasonably be completed inside 8 episodes, although 9 episodes would allow for more space to breathe and a clearer, more complete ending. I am eager to complete the game because I believe it has a high commercial success potential, with very professional art, that looks more "standard", in regards to character proportions and stuff.

Perhaps I'm just high off of the release of my latest game.
---
Speaking of that release, My Oppai Mommy Is Making Me Want To Spill All Of My Company Secrets has been a humble success so far. To give you an idea, I've accumulated 1,200$ (like, EXACTLY 1,200) of revenue on Steam and about 215$ on Itchio since the release of the game. Now that the initial 15% off rebate has ended, the sales have stopped too. But that's to be expected, it's the nature of the game. No matter how low you're going to price your work, people just buy games on sale, man. It's how the world turns.
I expect a few more odd full-priced sales here and there until the end of September, and I project that the release of the game will have given me just about 1,500$, give-or-take. That about recoups the expenses for the art of the game, with a little bit of profit from me, that I'll probably just keep in the coffers of the company, in order to spend for more art.
When they warn people not to expect to live off of indie game development, you should listen to the advice.
On a more positive note, the game had the most wishlist on Steam from any other of my releases, and I believe it shows in its initial sale performance, which tells me I should create store pages for my upcoming games sooner, in order to accumulate even more wishlists.
I'm also thinking about creating a 'clean' version of the Yumi-Chan game, with the H-scenes removed, just so that more people could play the game and enjoy its more comedic and wholesome content. Do you think it's a good idea? Or will I just make it more confusing for players shopping around on Steam?
---
And that's it. The power is out at my work today, so I was given an unexpected day off, which I will be spending writing the first part of the next episode of Yumi-Chan, while listening to relaxing dark-ambient music. It's been my jam lately. Dark ambient music, and Youtube videos about visiting empty Garry's Mod liminal maps. Those are signs that Halloween is slowing creeping up on us, and it's getting me pretty excited.
I hope you also take time to chill and relax to some cool ambient music this week. I'll see you guys later with more news on my progress. Until then, stay safe out there!

News & Update - Reverse Headscissors & Concerns

A picture is worth a thousand words. Attached to this post is a tease for artist Turbun's latest sketch of an upcoming commission for the Bodyguard Girl Deluxe game. The results of the poll were pretty heated, but the reverse scissorhold barely etched in first place, so that's what you are getting. And given Vivian's measurements under Turbun's pen, well, our poor protagonist's head is getting lost between those thighs.
So you've got this to look forward to.

Work on the next build of Don't Flex On Me, Yumi-Chan!!! is moving along swimmingly. Nothing Earth-shattering to report on that front, but no issues either. Prepare for a date with Yumi coming soon!
---
The only reason why My Oppai Mommy Makes Me Want To Spill All Of My Company Secrets isn't out yet on Steam is because I still have to make a trailer for the store page. Seriously, this is the only thing keeping the store checklist to be completed.
I am very bad at making game trailers, and I've struggled to find both the motivation and the time to actually make it. I suppose I could half-ass it, but it does deserve a fair effort on my part. Expect it to appear sometime soon.

In the latest 'the Internet is quickly turning into a hellscape' news, I've seen at least two things happening this week that sorta disheartened me a little.
First off, my local government has changed some laws in regards to online commerce (look up Canada's RPAA regulations for more information), and it started a domino effect resulting in international payment providers being audited by said government. Immediately, payment processor Payoneer said 'nah, I'm pulling out' and I received a notice that my account was closing in September. No discussion, no appeal, no alternative offered.
I used Payoneer to withdraw the money from Patreon, since they had a more advantageous cut than Paypal, but that is not an option anymore. So it's back to Paypal for me, which absolutely feels like a fickle service these days. The foundations on which Peach Punch's revenue stream are built are becoming more and more fragile every day.
Secondly, Patreon reacted to the same regulations by asking me for an update to my tax information and a reminder that my payouts might be manually verified and delayed in the future. This one appears to be harmless at first glance, but I guess we'll see how it pans out. It does feed some doubt in my mind, I cannot help it.
This might be a good time to thank you all so very much for being subscribed here on SubscribeStar. This website has been a net positive in all of this censoring debacle. It is simple to use, payouts are managed by the site itself and are sent directly to my bank without any payment processor meddling in my affairs, so it's been a dream. I wish I could move all of my crowdfunding business here, but unfortunately the name Patreon is pulling a lot of weight and cannot be ignored (that is, until I get banned from it, which feels like only a question of time, honestly).

And that's it.
I've been to my local Anime Con last weekend, and I saw the JAST stand with a lonely rep sitting there. I couldn't gather the courage to walk up to him and introduce myself as the secret dev behind Peach Punch and discuss a possible association. I kinda regret it now. I'm not very talented when it comes to networking and selling myself. So, err, yeah, missed opportunity here.
It also made me consider making physical merch of my characters. Would you like to own something like an acrylic stand of Yumi for your office desk? They would be fully dressed, of course, SFW merch and all. Is that something you would be interested in? I would need to commission exclusive art for it, but the acrylic stands themselves are really cheap to make and easy to order. Food for thought.
Keep your eyes peeled next week, Yumi might just show up for a date out on the town. Until then, stay safe out there!

News & Update - Where I Currently Stand

"We should wait it out, right? After all, it can't rain all the time. I know you wanted to see me in wet clothes, dweeb. Just not today, tee-hee!"
---
Oof, the news online has been crazy these past two weeks. So much so, I find it more and more difficult not to succumb to conspiracy theories : I mean, all these coordinated efforts to stamp out privacy online from different countries is rather suspicious.
But beyond the reasons behind this trend, at the moment, most of us are stuck dealing with the results of it. While I am fortunate enough to live in a country where it hasn't been implemented yet (and as far as I can tell, hasn't even been discussed yet either), I fully expect my government to fall in line with every other government sooner or later and implement a version of these invasive measures to my corner of the internet, so it's basically only a question of time.
There are ways to prepare and protect yourself if you look online. Might I suggest your first search should include the word 'oblivion' in it? Do what you will with that information.
---
Itchio has been quite open in their struggle to adapt to the payment processors demands, and they are sharing whatever information they get in a very transparent manner. They confirmed that Stripe is out of the adult game business for now. They also clarified what they consider adult content based on payment processors' demands, which gives us a clearer picture of what is happening right now.
Of course, the issue will always be how those rules are interpreted, consent being a huge part of it, but also that 'force-related' line. Some of Peach Punch titles deal with EV, an acronym of words that rhyme with evotic riolence (sorry for the auto-censor, I think you know what I'm hinting at here), and EV can be framed in a multitude of ways, often linked with dubious or vague consent.
All of my characters eventually realize they enjoy what is happening to them. But the road to that discovery could be misinterpreted by malign parties looking for easy censorship material.
I believe I have been lucky so far in being ignored by all these censorship initiatives. Part of the explanation for it is that EV of women against men is not taken as seriously as EV of men against women in our society. The clear power imbalance between women and men in real life makes it so that F-on-M EV appears improbable, thus clearly fictional, and that logic might have saved my butt more than once. At least, that's my theory.
But it is undeniable that the vise of censorship is closing in on EV and it is forcing me to consider my options. In a game such as The Bodyguard Girl Is Too Strong, Vivian is considered an adversarial force, and the situations where you could get caught and eliminated by her can be seen as game over screens that are optional and non-desirable for the player. And I think I can get away with publishing such a game if I am carefully in its writing and its presentation in online marketplaces.
But I am concerned about other titles where the EV is more obviously the main draw, and where consent is a bit more muddy. Where does a character like Veronica lies, in regards to her powers of persuasion and hypnosis? This game might have to bite the dust when the censors come for it, and I hope it won't sink my entire business at the same time.
---
TD:DR : what is my reaction to this new wave of censorship?
My gut instinct is telling me to focus more on wholesome and comedic content in the future. Stuff like Don't Flex On Me Yumi-Chan or My Gym Mommy, which appear to be my most popular titles anyway.
I am unsure if I am in a position to finish an EV-centric title such as The Bodyguard Girl 2, (in which both winning or losing minigames lead to EV content and dubious consent) so this project might have to be put on ice until I assess how other devs deal with the situation, and observe if their games are banned and censored. I am keeping a close eye on the release of games such as Under Girl for that very reason.
I think I can pull off The Bodyguard Girl Deluxe if I correct course right now and tame it down a little. So this one stays on the table for now.
Also, I might have to diversify my selling points online. Should I open a seller page on other adult sites (which sometimes have ludicrously high % of revenue sharing that are disadvantaging for me as a solo dev)?
Basically, until significant changes are made to revert back to how the internet was before the last two weeks, I believe my best bet to keep Peach Punch afloat and successful is to stick to lighter fare. Like I said, my game Yumi-Chan is a good indicator of the stuff I will aim to do in the future. If this is not what you are here for, then I apologize for disappointing you.
I am but a single dude trying to make content he enjoys, I cannot afford to take a hit from the full strong arm of the law. I hope you understand.
If you are into such lighter fare, I hope you look forward to my next project ideas!

In other news, I am starting to work on the next update for Don't Flex On Me Yumi-Chan!!! I have teased the next CG starring best girl Yumi, and now that I am in possession of the full art, I am ready to go. This one should be awesome, focusing on that bratty teasing Yumi is known for. Can't wait to show you guys what I have in store for you.
Until then, stay safe out there!
