This week, I asked for achillean novel recs on bsky because I struggle to find gay books that suit my tastes (please toss your recs into the ring if you haven't already, and maybe find some recs for yourself along the way: https://bsky.app/profile/friction-press.itch.io/post/3lnxfwpf5vq2b). Sometimes I need gay books that aren't depressing! It's harder to find than you'd expect. There's some good genre variety, so I'll just need to start trying things and figuring out what I like. Thank god for library apps. I've been trying to stay away from social media for the last several months for the sake of my health, and having an ebook on my phone to read in the morning is a much better way to wake up than scrolling through literally any social media site.

Now that ANGEL/PEARL is done and in the midst of formatting, I'm really excited to write a future sci-fi project! Not only do I love certain sci-fi subgenres, but it seems like there's a pretty stark lack of achillean sci-fi in the world. As someone who grew up having the Tripods trilogy by John Christopher read aloud to me, I've always loved stories about aliens and weird machines! I've been tossing ideas around in my brain and beginning to discuss some of the concepts with friends.

I have 3 main ideas I've been batting around. One story is centered on an alien crash landing into a growing rebellion on a human planet where a toxic matriarchy took over at some point, one story is centered on investigating an anomaly for science in a hostile mutated landscape, and the last story is more of a psychological thriller that I don't want to spoil. All of these are deeply appealing to me for VERY different reasons so I'm having trouble deciding what to really focus on for whatever comes next.

Right now, NIGHT PRINCE is moving steadily along. All the art is coming together really nicely. I've been chipping away at the next FAKE RACING GAME script alongside Panfried who is doing a lot of heavy-lifting on the code side of things, as well as helping me make narrative decisions. It's not that exciting to share at this point because all of the writing is in draft-form, but I'm very excited to write Ghost getting his ass beat, and to see some hot clowns. Did we mention there are clowns in this one? There are clowns in this one. It takes place in a circus-themed casino. It's going to be a ton of fun.

I miss working on VELVET, I'll return to him soon. First, I need to write the NIGHT PRINCE one-shot that Orcamode will be making art for. Once that's off my plate, I can finally return to Xavier and Kolt and wrap up book 2.

My health took a pretty big hit these last two weeks, so I'm moving slowly in terms of new writing progress.
