August Progress Report
Another busy month down and a lot of progress I'm happy to have made. So this progress update is sorta split between two points of focus, the first is of course the current build I'm working on to restore a lot of disabled content and include Grace. The latter half is for the next character test build of Brigit, Saki and the 2nd Guest.
I'll start with my current work on Grace and other progress notes.
Grace and character progress
I've really enjoyed working on Grace with my buddy BazookaDre's help, with it, Grace has essentially been completely outlined and it's now a matter of art and mechanics implementation to go through.
Grace by default will serve as a very potent support and Crit attacker. She'll possess the ability to heal, revive party members and debuff enemies which should be particularly useful against Elites and bosses. Grace focuses on single targets at a time unlike Samara for instance and while her Energy is on the lower side making it easier for her to faint in battle, She makes up for it with a higher rate and unique evasion mechanic.
Instead of a normal evade, Grace can parry an incoming attack which will provide her a state on her next action that increases her Crit chance, or alternatively will increase her healing potency.
Another major mechanic that sets Grace apart from other characters is that she won't have a Will Power stat, just like Journey, which will prevent her from breaking in most subjugations. However she does possess a Breeding Curse, also unique to her character.
In the place of Brands other characters can receive, Grace's Curse slot will fill with the mark of a partner that dominates and claims her as his own. Two example candidates are The Berserker and Caveman.
If Grace is dominated enough by these specific enemies, they'll claim her, which will have an effect on later encounters with them and in The Berserker's case, allow him to instantly dominate Grace in battle if they meet again while his claim is active.
Any active Curse Grace has will gradually fade on it's own unless she is defeated again by them or remains in the custody of The Berserker's subjugation.
Lastly because of the breeding Curse, if The Goblins or Dithonion subjugate Grace she will spawn more enemies then most characters.
With Treu generally complete barring a few art materials needing finishing/updating, Dr.Midday will be finished alongside Grace's combat implementation. after which that'll just leave H-battle art, mostly for Grace to catch her up with the other characters.
Quests and other Updates
Now to move into more general notes, I've made a few mostly stat adjustments to characters and enemies, some being more slight adjustments. For Vocator I've updated her stats somewhat and upgraded a few of her attacks to be AOE to better challenge full parties.
I've also made a small update to the enemy bestiary. I've reformatted the Lore entries and expanded on a few, I've also added the base stats so you can better gauge the numbers of enemies outside of battle, excluding any level variance.
Now to talk about quests, unfortunately I don't have many visuals to share but I'll briefly overview them just to share a better idea of what they'll be about and how they'll work. I'll talk about 3, Grace's quest, Dr.Midday's and The Crest Fallen's quest for the next character test build.
If you've found Grace's Liminal Space encounter, she shares a bit of context about why she's in The Serferus Realm. She's hunting a particular Berserker that's lured her to this place after he stole an artifact from her world of origin.
After Journey first meets Vocator and subsequently recruits Treu and Samara, Grace will have made her way to Lilith's Castle in search of help, particularly Journey's, having either heard of her Claymore or alternatively if you met her by chance before.
For most side quests, you'll be able to use any character you like, in the instances Journey is needed, like Grace's quest, she'll be present of her own accord, escaping Subjugation on her own if she happened to be imprisoned somewhere.
The other two quests may not involve Journey at all depending on your character choices.
For Dr.Midday's quest, she'll send one of her two lab assistants to request you're help, SX42, an android built by Dr.Midday to retrieve samples and specimens from dangerous places the Doctor is too lazy to go herself.
SX42 will arrive in the castle on behalf of Dr.Midday to escort either Journey or one of her party members to Dr.Midday's lab to assist her with a heretical experiment, offering her help in exchange.
The Crestfallen's quest will unlock bounties once completed. Word of a Lady Knight in distress will lead you to rescue her from a particular demon lord responsible for wiping out The Crest Fallen Knight's expedition force into the realm, seeking the location of the Princess she's charged with protecting.
Once rescued The knight will ask you to help secure the safety of her Princess, she' deems herself to weak to do it on her own now.
You'll meet Candra, the Princess of Perlus, a small Kingdom forced to be a vassal by The Duchess' Magus empire. The game's story doesn't really involve the world outside of The Realm and Lilith's castle, but this quest will offer a bit of detail on it for those interested.
Now I'd like to talk about what's next, and the 2nd Guest Character.
2nd Guest Character
Finally I can share the 2nd Guest character I was lucky enough to include is Ferania Wolfenstahl from Deathblight! Getting to include Ferania in Lilith Descent is a huge honor for me and I really cannot thank Wolfenstahl and Crescentiaenough! Ferania is easily one of my original favorite Deathblight girls and a dream inclusion when I even considered any Guest Characters.
The same goes for Wolfenstahl and Crescentia's work on their series all these years. Way before I ever did anything Adult art related, Deathblight was one of my biggest inspirations and a large reason why I even created Lilith Descent how I did.
The Deathblight RPG informed a lot of what I enjoy in h-games, stats, lewd dialogue and defeat hentai, even The Subjugation system was inspired by the capture/enslavement system from Deathblight.
For anyone else familiar with Deathblight, alongside their ongoing webcomic, Wolf and Cres have recently returned to game development as well! So if you like, please follow/support them for their gorgeous art and sexy characters.
I want to thank Wolf again as well, both he and Cres have one of the friendliest communities I've ever been in and they've always been great to talk to ^ ^
I'd actually like to apologize a bit as well, Wolf gave me his blessing to include Ferania a while ago and even helped me with more details of her character, however the combat rework delayed a lot of things and I didn't want to announce she was coming until I fixed quite a few things with the game.
Now in terms of Ferania's playability, I've noted it down on the updated Roadmap here. I re-organized a few tasks and hopefully made it easier to look at. So after this version I'm currently working on, the next build will be mainly dedicated to testing Saki, Ferania and Brigit in the game. With two subjugations available at that point as well to ensure all the main gameplay loops work and feel good with Ferania and everyone.
Now that about covers this progress report, I was mostly playing catch up with my tasks. For the next progress report I should have Grace, Dr.Midday and Treu fully done in terms of the combat system and sex animations.
Besides CG work I plan to talk about the Berserker Subjugation and other enemies in more detail as I near the finish line for this build.
In the meantime thank you again for your support and patience with me everyone, I'll see you again soon!
