Devlog 07 June 2024

Welcome to the first devlog of the game!

So to give you some context, for a long time i wanted to make a 3d bondage game, a game where you could play as the one being tied up or the one who does the tying.

Very few good 3d bondage games, that i could find, existed at that time. So i began trying to create several prototypes for myself but they weren't good nor interesting at all. I was really unsatisfied with both visuals with no custom assets at all and the gameplay, you were only here to be chased and tied by a random dude. After that i lost interest and motivation to do anything about it since it was, after all, supposed to be only a game for myself. Until played Ada's Escape by the wonderful ForAMouthfullOfGags in 2017, this really made me want to make my own bondage game. A game that i could share with other people.

But enough of that past crap!

Now, i've been seriously working on this game on my freetime since July 2023, what's the current state of the game you might ask?

The game has gone through a first phase, this phase was to see how i would make the content for the game basically.

  • I needed to learn more 3d modeling to be able to make all the content of the game myself since i wanted a stylized look for my game, unfortunately, i can afford external help for this and i'm a programmer first, so this took it's sweet time but ooooh boy nothing can stop me now!... just kidding it's a long but enjoyable process.
  • I needed good enough bases for systems to handle several parts of the game. An example of these systems are the Restraints System and the Clothing System.

These two are important ones. Clothing is important for these kind of games, players might want their tied up character to have a specific outfit with their favorite clothes. Do i even need to say that restraints are important in a bondage game?

Let me just say this, one thing i miss the most in 3d bondage games is the layering of restraints and the holy pressure effect on the skin and clothing by ropes, straps, tape etc... Sure you can't really see it in some cases like ropes beneath an armbinder but this is hotter and much more secure knowing that, she's not going anywhere, am i right? Only the pressure effect was implemented here very recently. The layering is another beast to deal with but i want my layering, i don't care how hard it will be, it will be present in the game!

Currently, gameplay-wise, there's nothing too crazy here, you can walk around, grab items, being seen, chased and tied of by a woman that looks exactly like you, you can also tie this naughty one if you grab her from behind! But it doesn't really have any animations right now, some actions have placeholders animations i've made really fast.

I've been thinking if i could find a good way to make the struggle system enjoyable, something that actually involves the player instead of looking at the character struggle which, to be fair, could be an option for those who wants to enjoy it the animation and sounds. I've been trying several ways but it always was "out of place", something that show up on UI you interacted with to simulate the struggle and that's not fun, i actually want my player to enjoy the "tightness" and realise how their character needs to struggle damn it! Something more physical, luckily i've recently played Flight of the Swallow by the delightful Marine Kelley. Which had the most interesting struggle system i've seen so far, it also works great for her game.

So! What i'm currently doing:

  • Implementing my version of Marine Kelley's struggle system
  • Recreating the character model
  • Level design for the prototype level
  • Implementing features like finishing the grab from behind system and hiding in a locker.

Next week i'll talk a little more (and hopefully show) some of these.

Since i'm currently under review, i think i can't post a preview video here but don't you worry, you don't really miss anything important right now, so i've uploaded a few screenshots you can check out. Keep in mind these screenshots are showing the old design of the character.

Have a nice week-end!
