2025 End-of-Year Report

Hi everyone, 2025 draws to a close... we accomplished a fair bit this year, but it has overall felt slow to me and I'm sure to many of you as well, so I apologize. Behind the scenes, things have been progressing, but giving our many contributors room to breathe and do their best work can be slow-going. 

Though this year has been quite slow compared to the breakneck pace of the early days, I have regained some of my ability to make updates to the mod itself, now through manual means rather than using the in-game mod manager. The rest of my talented teammates have assisted me greatly in fixing, maintaining, and expanding the mod, and I am very grateful to have their help.

For our upcoming short-term goals, we are still busy making high-security straitjackets, Zhara (I think), and another update that should fix some reported issues and adjust some annoying features of the mod. This month I've been keeping in touch with the various artists currently making progress on works for us. Most have gotten busy with other things in their personal lives but are still steadily making progress for us. This is the best I can hope for given the nature of these commissioned works and the frequent back-and-forth communication I have to make with them to get things right for them to work in the mod. 

I've not been as communicative or active as I would have liked to be this year. My personal life is in shambles as I've been finishing up school but have unable to pass certification exams for the next steps of my career outside of mod development, but I'm doing my best to keep up with both that and the mod.  I fear that I'm going to have to really lock in and commit to passing my exams this time around, or we'll be here all over again in a few months and I can't keep doing that to you guys.  

The rest our our team is still actively working on various project including Overkill mod and other DID-related activities. 

Thank you for your support, I will do my best to continue adding cool things to this mod as art gets completed and inspiration for actual new uses for that art comes to me. I hope you all are having a good holiday season. Here's to a new year with more progress and good things.

November 2025 End-of-month Report

Hi everyone, this month our artists have continued updating me with their steady progress for new escape art and fixed some issues in our code while preparing for the next release.

After last month's public update, we've had a slowdown in progress from the rapid-fire new art that was getting made for a couple of weeks. Some of our artists have been busy with other things, but I'm getting in contact with them to continue work on the high-security straitjackets shown last month. I'm also told that Zhara (frogtie) will be completed within this year! (cross your fingers!) 

In my personal life, I have been a bit depressed because I was not successful in passing the July 2025 California Bar Exam. I'll be studying and working on the mod for the foreseeable future.

October 2025 End-of-Month Report

Hi everyone, this month we've picked up the pace in creating new things. We had a flurry of activity over the last couple of weeks while we worked on Eileen escape art, some new restraints, and releasing a new update.

Behold the latest development in overkill restraint technology: The High-Security Straitjacket and Legbinder (AC Version), drawn by SMoonlightM.

This set of bindings will be one of our most complex yet. Our plan is to have several levels of security built in to the straitjackets, each one adding more straps and cuffs to show the increasing levels of restriction. Shown above is the (currently) highest level of restriction with the added cuffs on the upper and lower arms and strap across the top of the breasts. As the player unravels their torso binding, the jacket will visually update to show the progress.

Because it covers so much of the body, it presents some new challenges for our graphics system that will require me to create new body images for each character and outfit so that the very tight straitjacket can cover each character's whole body. If we used the normal images, you'd be able to see their arms sticking out from behind, and we can't have that!

We will continue working on these new restraints and all the other projects we are still working on, aiming to release them when they are ready. The complexity of the new restraints will likely require some additional time figuring out how to make everything work properly, but they will eventually all make their way into the mod.

Eileen artists also made significant progress, but there isn't too much new to show yet. We will keep you updated as the remaining three poses approach completion.

September 2025 end-of-month report

Hi everyone, September is wrapping up and while I don't have a lot to show you for it, things are looking up.

This month the team and I met in a voice call for the first time in a while to work out some code issues that have been bugging us for some time now. We managed to get a good amount of things sorted out in addition to implementing some new ideas to tweak values for the concealment system depending on difficulty, making it more likely for guards to spot that you're up to something if the difficulty is high and the guard is strict, while making it less likely if the difficulty is low and/or the guard is more relaxed.

Some people have asked me if development has been delayed indefinitely due to the itch.io and payment processor stuff going on, but that's not the case and I promise we're still working on things.

Coordinating the efforts of a lot of different people can be challenging. I prefer to work with others without enforcing any deadlines because I just feel like that's more the environment that I want to create for the community of contributors. Our lives have enough deadlines outside of DID-related stuff so I'd prefer not to add to the stress of all these nice artists and coders if possible. However, this has led to me sometimes feeling lost and stuck when it comes to the parts of the mod I personally work on, but I feel like I'm coming out of that slump now.

Here's a rundown on the situation with art and for Overkill in general:

Currently, I'm in communication with about 6 different artists who are all working on their own projects for this mod. I check in with them at least once a month and most respond quickly, but life has been catching up with the majority of them and has delayed their work some. I also have to be understanding about how I'm asking them for a lot: drawing art for an escape pose is quite an involved process that requires an artist to draw the nude base art of a character before adding on all their complex clothing in layers, from underwear to dresses to accessories, in addition to all the wacky bindings and gags we've been adding that has resulted in exponentially more work for future poses and characters. Despite the ongoing bloating of the scope of the mod, I'm confident that we will eventually get through all this, but as I've feared from the outset, it will take a long, long time.

On top of this, Overkill now processes so much data when creating a patch with the built-in didnapper 2 mod manager just crashes when I try to create an update patch. I've been meaning to make some time to meet with reverse_mitts to learn a new process to do this manually, but I keep delaying because there's more art that keeps finishing up that I want to add, or because there's art that's not yet finished that I'd like to include.

I'm feeling like a broken record apologizing for our slow progress, but in our recent team meeting I believe I've finally hashed out a plan that I can stick to. 
  • Add SMoonlightM's Posture Collars and Gags.
    • first for Seles (halfway done), then for all characters (that we currently have).
  • Create 0.15 and release it publicly when it's in a state that seems stable enough.
  • Throughout this time: request updates from Eileen and Kaie artists to show progress.

I started to get on a roll acting on this plan, but I now need to go on a trip for about a week to visit and care for my grandmother. So far I have completed 2 of Seles' 4 poses for the new gag/collars. I will finish that when I return and work towards adding whatever other pieces our artists manage to finish by then so that we can publicly release version 0.15 at that time.

I can't thank you all enough for your patience with me and our glacial pace. I hope that this update has shed some light on the uncertainty at work here, but feel free to contact me or just talk in discord with any questions about the status of the mod. I always tell the team, and myself, that our project is a marathon and not a sprint. I'm going to commit to making some steady progress and improvements of my own when I get back to expand my skillset so I can actually do things like I used to be able to (starting with creating actual new patches for the mod!)

August 2025 End-of-month Report

Hello everyone, this month I continued coordinating with our various artists. We're still hard at work on progressing Eileen's new art for all poses, and some new restraints for all characters and poses.

We completed some new collars and gags, which I will be working on adding to the game over the next few weeks. Once I finish adding those to the game, I'll be re-learning how to create new patches for the mod so that we can finally get another release out with some of the new art assets and game systems we've in-progress for a while now.

The ongoing situation with itch.io de-indexing nsfw content and payment processors being a general pain in the ass is an ever-present source of stress for us. We thank you for continuing to support us in this volatile time.

In my personal life, I've been having trouble looking for work while awaiting my bar exam results which won't come out until November. The stress is kind of getting to me hard so I'm trying to improve my mental state and buckle down to actually do some work on the mod. I've also had to take some time away to care for my elderly family members. Some members of our team will be taking some time on September 4th to enjoy the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong. We hope you all enjoy the game too, for those of you who plan to play (would recommend).

Thank you for your patience. I apologize for our slow progress, it seems that this is the nature of working with a lot of different people and having no fixed schedule of deadlines, but this is what works for us and steadily gets all the things we need produced. More to come soon!

July 2025 End-of-month Report

Hi all, this month we continued to work steadily on art for the three remaining Eileen poses and other restraints such as the new panel plug gag and collar. I've been in talks with the artists to commission more new things such as a new legbinder and straightjacket, so hopefully we'll soon begin work on that too.

Creating new patches remains a slow process which I don't know enough about to do myself, so I am dependent on reverse_mitts' assistance. I plan to release another beta update once we implement a significant enough amount of new content for you all to test.

The widespread situation across the internet on itch.io and Steam changing their policies regarding NSFW content has been extremely concerning to us. If you're willing, I'd ask you to join me in clogging up Visa and Mastercard's phone lines. It seems to be the most effective way to make our voices heard if you want to help us and other bondage-themed projects continue to exist on the internet.

I just took the California Bar Exam because I'm trying to become a lawyer, but it was hard and mentally exhausting and I think I am cooked. Anyway, I have some family obligations to take care of over the next few days, after which I expect to be back and able to implement some of the new exciting graphics our artists have been making. 

I would like to again apologize for what I consider to be the very slow-going progress of the mod, but I assure you that I will not abandon this project for as long as I am able to continue pursuing the goal of adding every main character and every pose to escapes, and making this mod a more polished and complete package.
