There Is No "I" In Threesome

Newly engaged couple Zoe and Ollie agree to try out an open relationship and self-document every moment of their risqué experiment: the hookups, the jealousy, the vulnerability… and the shocking ending that you’ll never see coming.
1 h 27 min   2021   18+   Documentary

MY RATING: 🧡🧡🧡🖤🖤 (3 Hearts out of 5)
This is a strange documentary. Not necessarily strange in a bad way, just strange. See, the problem with 'reviewing' this is that I can't write too much about how I really feel without spoiling the mindfuck of an ending - something I don't want to do because if you haven't seen it, I want you to experience it for yourself. It would be a disservice to you and everyone involved in the film if I did.
So I'll write what I can.
It's touching, candid, and did absolutely nothing to change my theory that true polyamory is not maintainable. It sounds good in theory, much like threesomes do, but an open relationship is just not feasible in reality. As much as I hate to use definitives, in this case, I feel three are justified:
Someone will always get hurt.
Expectations will never be met.
Ultimately, the couple will always be worse than they were before they went into it.
I have yet to see a couple disprove my theory, and at this stage of my life, I've realized that I likely never will. Of course, it's one thing if you're casually dating someone to be open to dating others, but even then...
The reason for my three-heart rating? The mindfuck of an ending. I didn't like it. But, that being written, I definitely enjoyed watching it and did not feel my time was wasted. Of course, you may think differently than me. If so, let me know.

Watch it on...

What the heck is movie night?!

Update: I'm going to start making extended reviews of the movies I watch, kind of like I already do with manga, anime, and video games. These extended reviews will only be viewable by Patreon members. The ones I rip from old social media posts, which I won't add anything to, will still be free for everyone. ☺

Every once in a while (usually about every other week or so), I snatch someone up and force them to watch a movie with me. I usually post about this on social media. Still, some of you may miss these posts or not follow me (😳😡), so I decided to make a dedicated section on my Subscribestar.Adult as well. None of my reviews are going to be long, but since several people seem to care what I think about movies, I figured why the hell not?
To start, I’ll be combing through my social media and reposting old movie reviews here (leaving the text as-is), and when I watch new movies (with extended reviews available only to you Subscribestar.Adult types), I’ll post them as well.
Let me know if you agree with me or not!

2038: George Almore is working on a true human-equivalent AI. His latest prototype is almost ready. This sensitive phase is also the riskiest. Especially as he has a goal that must be hidden at all costs: being reunited with his dead wife.
Director: Gavin Rothery
Writers: Gavin Rothery

My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Anne and I had never heard of this movie before we stumbled across it on Google Play Movies. We were bored, in the mood for something sci-fi(ish), and wanted to watch something we hadn’t heard of before.
The trailer looked interesting, as did the plot. Considering we were both in the mood for a heart-wrencher, something to give us the feels.
I honestly didn’t go into this movie with very high expectations; I just expected to be mildly entertained.
Fuck was I thrown. 😳
The ending... I did not see it coming. During the last five minutes, my mouth dropped open, my eyes gradually widened, and I finally stood up and blurted out, “No fucking way!” as everything rapidly clicked together. This film is a bonafide masterpiece. 🤯

Sonic the Hedgehog

The world needed a hero, we got a hedgehog. Powered with incredible speed, Sonic The Hedgehog (voiced by Ben Schwartz), aka The Blue Blur, embraces his new home on Earth. That is, until he accidentally knocks out the power grid and sparks the attention of super-uncool evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey). Now it’s super-villain vs. super-sonic in an all-out race across the globe to stop Robotnik from using Sonic’s unique power for world domination. Sonic teams up with The Donut Lord, aka Sheriff Tom Wachowski (James Marsden), to save the planet in this live-action adventure comedy that’s fun for the whole family.

💗💗💗💗💗
THIS MOVIE WAS SO GOOD! I loved everything about it - the constant humor, the special effects, the heart (so much heart!), and especially Jim Carrey’s depiction of Dr. Robotnik. This movie was seriously magical, and I regret waiting this long to watch it!
I am so, so glad they decided to do away with the old character model they were going to use – if they had ignored the public outcry and used it anyway, the movie wouldn’t have anywhere near as excellent. I mean, here’s what they originally envisioned, compared with what they finally went with:

See what I mean?! The first version looks like something out of a Stephen King story, while the second is just straight up Sonic.
And the ending! Make sure to watch past the credits, because... I’m not going to spoil it, but Anne and I started screaming. Seriously, if you haven’t watched this movie yet, please do yourself a favor and check it out. It goes by fast (as a Sonic movie should) and is entertaining as hell; I promise you it will be the best $5 you’ve spent all year. 🥰

👀 Want to watch? It’s only $2.99 on Google Play Movies. Just go here and check it out!

Gemini Man

Gemini Man

Henry Brogan is an elite 51-year-old assassin who's ready to call it quits after completing his 72nd job. His plans get turned upside down when he becomes the target of a mysterious operative who can seemingly predict his every move. To his horror, Brogan soon learns that the man who's trying to kill him is a younger, faster, cloned version of himself.

❤️❤️❤️🖤🖤
I want to write this before anything else: I adore Will Smith. I’ve been a lifelong fan of his, and most of his movies, even the weird, quirky ones, I’ve loved. Even if they get bad reviews or ratings, I’ve always dug them.
This is, so far, the sole exception.
It’s not a bad movie, per se; it’s just... weird. Everything from the directing to the plot to the feeling of everything being rushed, mixed together with the sudden blink-and-you’ll-miss-it ending... it all just comes together into this weird sort of witches brew of a movie. I didn’t hate it, didn’t love it, it kind of just left me feeling blah. I’m glad I watched it just for the experience, and to see Will Smith fight a younger version of himself, but I wouldn’t watch it again.
About the Will Smith/younger Will Smith thing. The effects they used to make Will Smith look younger just seemed weird, like it wasn’t so much a real person, but an Avatar-like CGI created poorly. A parody, in a way, if that makes any sense. Every time his younger self came on screen, it kind of made me slightly uncomfortable. I don’t know why.
Also, Will Smith seemed way too likable. I mean, this dude was supposed to be the best of the best, an assassin with no equal, but he came off as more of a nice everyday guy. The personality, warmness, and charisma just didn’t seem to match the role. It made me think of how he probably is in real life.
And then there were the relationships between the characters, which seemed almost non-existent. This is not a slam to any of the actors. I just feel that the script they were given was hollow. They were wasted on it.
At the end of the day, the only kind of people I would recommend this movie to are die-hard fans of shoot 'em ups. Anyone else should probably pass this up.

👀 Want to watch it? It’s $12.99 to buy (not rent) on Google Play Movies. Just go here and check it out!

V/H/S

Four thugs who make money putting their violent antics online are hired to steal a VHS tape from a spooky old house. However, things take a turn for the worse when they find a dead pensioner and dozens more tapes.
Release date: October 5, 2012 (USA)
Directors: Adam Wingard, David Bruckner, Ti West
Initial DVD release: October 18, 2012 (Germany)
Box office: 1.9 million USD

Movie time! My good friend @keremgo3d hipped me up to this by telling me it was a light-hearted romantic comedy, so I’m about to dive into it and absorb the love. I’ll let you guys know what I think when it’s over! 🥰

(2 Hours Later)
I just finished watching it, and holy shit. That... that was NOT a romantic comedy, y’all! 😳😭
Seriously though, THIS IS HOW HORROR MOVIES SHOULD BE! Scary as fuck, not jump scare based (I fucking hate movies that rely on jump scares for their horror elements!), and deep psychological mindfucking. It’s like this movie reaches down to your ID, plays with it for a minute to put it at ease (cause, you know, IDs need calming, I guess), then proceeds to sporadically alternate between pinching, massaging, and gripping it painfully tight. Does that make any sense? I’m being weirdly graphic, I know, but that’s how it felt!
The entire fucking time.
Such a good movie...
I’ve never seen a movie like this before, one where the entire thing was shot using camcorders, webcams, or video recording glasses (I immediately jumped on Amazon and put a pair in my Wish List because I badly want a pair!). I know The Blair Witch Project was supposed to be the same way, but I still have not gotten around to seeing that yet. One day. Definitely not today. 😂
My next movie (which I’ll probably watch later in the week) will be the sequel, V/H/S/2, then Siren, which is supposed to be taken from the first story in the original. I can’t wait!

Want to watch it yourself? You'll find it on Amazon Prime!
