Financial Report

Since the last report, which was made on 09/23/2023, we received four payouts, for a total of US$ 661.00, after fees.

I started working on the port to Godot in November, 2023. We knew that completing the port would take at least 6 months, that is a long period, and I wanted to make sure the team would remain motivated during the process. With that goal in mind, I talked with Akanymir(our main Artist, the one who made most of what you see in the game). The result was that I committed to sending him a monthly “salary” of $300(more like an allowance, considering how low it is), most of that amount came from my personal funds, I was using the payouts from SubscribeStar to help afford it. The outcome has been good so far, Akanymir has put in a lot of work since then, I’m honestly astonished at how much he made so far. Since the demo v2, just in terms of combat, he made 6 new enemies, all with their full set of unique skills, I posted screenshots on our discord. I fully intend on including all of them in the first Godot release, which means it will have 10 enemies (compared to the 4 on the demo), not to mention the 4 old enemies all have new lewd skills as well (I showed those on the previous progress report).

A Problem on the horizon

Akanymir lives in Ukraine, not only that, but he’s also unfortunate enough to live in a city(Sumy) that’s on the border with Russia. He’s not only the project’s artist, he’s also a dear friend of mine. Because of this, my first goal is to reach an income that allows him to move to a safer city with his family, my ultimate goal is to get him out of Ukraine, but that is not realistic at the moment. Moving to a safer city is realistic, and he estimates it would cost $1500/month. I live in Brazil, even high-paying jobs in my country don’t pay that much (our minimum wage is $260/month), so I applied for remote jobs in 1st world countries, both in game development and programming in general, but I didn’t manage to even get a single interview. To make matters worse, Freelancing hasn’t been doing well in the last few months, I’m struggling to even keep up with the $300/month I committed to. I considered publishers, and they weren’t keen in investing on a team that is threatened by the ongoing war. I can’t blame them, but it doesn’t change the fact that we still have a very big unsolved problem.

Progress Report – 8/23/2023


Akanimyr – Artist

Finished making the sprites of the community-chosen NPC “Beezador”, being 8 in total + 12 variations. (Blurred to avoid spoilers)
 
 Made 3 CGs featured on the main storyline, and 1 variation for each. (Blurred to avoid spoilers)



Reworked the combat UI, necessary to fit some design changes and improve readability.


Made 3 CGs for a sex scene we are working on. (Blurred to avoid spoilers)


Akanimyr will now focus on making more CGs for this scene.

Kattlarv – Writer, World Builder, Design

Wrote many small rest events/dialogues, they may trigger during exploration. She’s now working on the sex scene mentioned above.
Kattlarv also frequently helps with proofreading, game design, and various similar tasks. Quantifying her work in a simple post is hard, doing so without giving spoilers is impossible, so you’ll have to wait and see it by yourself in-game!

Nikke – Animator

Animated 4 sex loops. (GIFs are available in the WiPs section)

Houtamelo – Programmer, Project Leader, Designer

Aside from managing the project, I finished coding the new timeline system which will make combat more fluid, while also making it easier to calculate the timing between your actions and the enemies’. This new system will also drastically improve performance as combat calculations will only have to be done once between actions instead of every 0.05s (this was a major source of lag).

I’m almost done adding all the newly produced assets to the game (such as new animations, CGs, and the combat UI). Afterwards I’ll begin testing everything which is the last step before releasing the update to testers.

What still needs to be done for the v3 release?

Please keep in mind the list below is an estimate, I likely forgot to include some things and more will be added. Though this list does include the biggest tasks.
  • 2 Idle animation loops: one for Jelly Crown and one for Beezador
  • Sound effects for 10 new skills (enemies), 2 on-hit (enemies), several for the new 3 local map events, and 4 for UI/Combat cues.
  • 6 grapple sex animations: We would like to include animations for the grappling sex loops in combat. That will be 6 enemies, each with a variation for Ethel/Nema. (6/12 done)
  • Voice acting + Sfxs: We would like to add moans/sex noises for the 12 grapple sex animations we will have.
  • VFX for the 12 grapple sex animations and a cumming/orgasm variation for each. (e.g.: fluids spreading everywhere, cinematic camera movement)
  • Test and bugfix everything.

Progress Report – 7/05/2023

We made a ton of progress since the demo v2 and we are getting close to the v3 release, the changelog keeps growing, already occupying almost 3 pages.
Since I don’t want this post to be 3 pages long, I’ll only include the biggest changes:
  • All the reported bugs from the demo v2 have been fixed.
  • Translation support, currently with 30 languages via MTL (Works offline), we plan to release human translations (to some languages) near the completion of the game.
  • Tons of UX improvements. (Such as tooltips, much faster combat)
  • New soundtrack for the path between Chapel - Grove, made by Cashandbrand.
  • 2 new enemies: Jelly Crown and Beezador.
  • Lust/Grapple system rework. (Details will be provided in the full changelog)
  • New “type” of skill: Overlays, unlike previous skills which used sprites, this kind will instead show a CG overlay including both characters (Caster/Target), this type will mostly be used by lewd skills. Each enemy will have at least one, some will have multiple. Each overlay skill has 4 variations for each girl (8 total), variations will depend on the girl’s Lust, Temptation, Corruption and Sex Experience with the enemy’s race/type.
  • Introducing (Finally) the most important stat in the game: Corruption, which will affect combat, scene outcomes and more. Coupled with it comes a stat that tracks the sexual experience each character has with each race/type.
  • 3 new local map events (More coming).
  • 1 new story scene. (It was included on the demo v2 but couldn’t be accessed due to a bug)
  • Small rework on the stat upgrading system, which will be needed for the upcoming local map (Hexagon Dungeon) rework.
  • Many balancing changes.

What still needs to be done for the v3 release?

Please keep in mind the list bellow is an estimate, I likely forgot to include some things and more will be added. Though this list does include the biggest tasks.

  • Vfxs for the 12 grapple sex animations and an additional cumming/orgasm variation for each. (e.g: fluids spreading everywhere, cinematic camera movement)
  • Small rework for the combat UI: the Lust/Grapple rework will require this. We already have a graphic artist working on it.
  • Edits to both the Local Map and Character Panel’s UI in order to include the new stats added.
  • Add translations to status tooltips.
  • Test and bugfix everything.

The Financial Side

Many of the things above require comissions, which we can’t currently afford. 
As an incentive, we have added 3 new tiers to SubscribeStar, each allowing you to add something custom of your choice to the game. The rewards for those tiers include more content on the game, which benefits all players in the end. Prices: $50/100/200
I also have two more ideas which could help fund the project while providing the supporter a concrete understanding of where their money is going to. Consider telling me what you think of those:
  1. Provide the public the cost of each of those comissions, allowing you to donate directly to them, meaning your money will 100% be used to fill that comission.

  2. Provide the public a list of equipment (and prices) our team members need to improve their production, like: graphic tablet and computer parts. We would also gadly accept used products so people willing to donate could send us used equipment if they have spares.

We are currently not interested in publishers as those would likely mess with our artistic freedom while also being a pain to deal with.
I understanding reading about money is not fun; writing also isn’t and it’s (in my opinion) the most boring part about game development, but we do need more funds in order to keep development going and hopefully be able to make a living out of making games.

Every 4 months we will host a poll to let you choose an enemy to be added to the game. (1 poll was hosted so far) Each enemy will have at least 2 normal skills, 1 lewd/tempt skill, 1 idle animation, and 2 sex animations (one for each protagonist). Assuming we take 36 months to finish the game, this will result in 9 enemies decided by the community.

Every 3 months we will host a poll to let you choose a sex event to be added to the game. The first poll will be hosted immediately after reaching this goal. These will be short with 500-750 words and 5-7 CGs. You'll find these kinds of events on the Local Map (hexagon dungeon). We will commission many voice actresses to make samples of voices for Ethel and Nema, then we will host a poll where you'll able to decide which actress will voice each character. The chosen actresses will be commissioned to voice the entire game, all dialogues, and all scenes, with no exceptions.

We will add one more protagonist to the Endless Climb mode, Ethel and Nema's perks/skills will be rebalanced to fit the new character, and of course, the new character will also be lewded! This requires making many new assets and is the reason there is a 4000 gap between goals.
