Chelsea and Kuchi - sweet invitation

Two sweets-lovers coming together, laying out all of their favorite sweet things on the table... creamy cannolis, chocolate and cream-covered donuts, sugary waffles covered in cream. And of course the deliciously sweet-looking tiny person they both found, the two of them delighted to offer up a choice for their new little friend-treat...

A mutual friend told Chelsea and Kuchi it was someone's birthday, so of course they had to get together and do something for it! (it me, it was my birthday a couple weeks ago.)
Been a while since I did a project with at least Chelsea, though Kuchi's been a little while since her last feature too. And I don't think I've ever put them together, despite them being two of my favorite OCs; I like to make a habit of doing at least something that's "just for me" around my birthday, even if it did take an extra bit of time to actually finish it!

Something simple to get the ball rolling! June is my birthday month, so I felt like it'd be nice to do some self-indulgent piece(s), and Chelsea was and is one of my favorite OCs who hasn't been given much attention in a long while.
With a little luck, this won't be the only thing I finish this month either! Just a matter of picking what the next piece will be...

Yep! I'm in a print magazine <3

Since I've got the go-ahead to publish my contributions to the magazine now, here you all go! I'll be spreading out the public posts over a short while I think, but this is the full lot in one shot here; from the cover art of Aya (there are seven different cover variants for this issue of the magazine, and Aya is one of the choices), to the five inserts, which are all double-page spreads within the magazine.

Physical 'zine is still on its way out, so I haven't gotten my hands on it yet, but I'm excited to be able to hold it in my hands and show it off a bit!

A fun project all in all; the theme of the magazine is "viral", and after a bit of bouncing around on ways to make the characters fit the fashion vibe (it is a fashion magazine after all), what we ended up settling on was this, a series of references to those sorts of machine-translated shirts you sometimes find with English text in non-English-speaking countries, similarly to how in the US and elsewhere, it's popular to stick random Japanese and Chinese characters on shirts. I tried to put a bit of a personal twist on each of the designs and to pick out quotes that seemed fitting for each of the characters to find and decide to wear, but bonus points if you can find the real-life clothes they all reference! :D
