Episode 6 - Progress Report #27

Hey everyone
I finally managed to finish Part 2 this week. I gotta be honest, this last scene was a pain in the butt to do 😡. So many technical challenges and things just slowed me down a ton, so I'm happy it's done now. And this was most likely the most challenging scene in the whole episode to create. But I think it was worth the effort, and I'm curious how you all think about it when it comes out.
Here's the progress:
  • Writing: 100%
  • Coding: 90%
  • Environments: 75%
  • New Characters: 7/7
  • Background Characters: 30/36
  • Renders: 35%
    • Part 1 (9:00pm): 852/852
    • Part 2 (10:00pm): 457/457
    • Part 3 (11:00pm): 0/550
    • Part 4 (12:30am): 0/750
    • Part 5 (2:00am): 0/500
    • Part 6 (3:00am): 0/600
  • Music/Sound: 0%
  • Testing/Polish: 0%

πŸ“† Release date estimate: August 2025
So with that done, I should be able to pick up the pace again. Part 3 has some tricky scenes as well, but luckily they are a lot smaller than the big one from Part 2 and they shouldn't be as much of a drag.
Part 3 really has it all, pretty much. Funny stuff, dramatic stuff, sexy stuff, flirty Ashe, drunk Ashe, voyeuristic Ashe... and something that a bunch of you have been waiting for a while πŸ˜‰.

❀️ Enjoy your weekend! ❀️

Episode 6 - Progress Report #26

Hey everyone
Sorry for the late report! I had a pretty stressful week and didn't get all the things done I wanted. I also underestimated the time I would need to craft that last scene of part 2 and how many variants of individual renders I need. The constant loading and hiding of big groups of people in this scene really slows down the workflow unfortunately.
Here's the progress:
  • Writing: 100%
  • Coding: 90%
  • Environments: 75%
  • New Characters: 7/7
  • Background Characters: 30/36
  • Renders: 33%
    • Part 1 (9:00pm): 852/852
    • Part 2 (10:00pm): 372/430
    • Part 3 (11:00pm): 0/550
    • Part 4 (12:30am): 0/750
    • Part 5 (2:00am): 0/500
    • Part 6 (3:00am): 0/600
  • Music/Sound: 0%
  • Testing/Polish: 0%

πŸ“† Release date estimate: August 2025
I did make a bunch of new background characters too, and I should be done with those soon. I think one more set of 6 characters will be enough to finally fill the scenes appropriately. There likely won't be any scenes with all these characters visible at once, but it adds some variety and realism if you're not always seeing the same 10 characters in the background.
I also spent some time making concrete plans on how I'm going to finish this episode in due time. I sat down and took another look at the remaining renders and other tasks. Realistically there's no real chance that I'll be done before August, so I corrected the estimated date. I took a look at my availability in the next couple weeks, when I'll get some days off work, etc. I've set myself goals for every week, which will hopefully help getting this thing rapidly closer to the finish line. My goal for now is to finish renders until August, and then take around two more weeks for sound, testing, and polish. So I'm aiming for a start of Early Access around mid August. I don't want to promise too much yet, since the goals I've set for myself are very ambitious, but I'll try my best to work towards that. I also already missed the goal for this week due to some personal stuff (and some miscalculations), so things aren't set in stone unfortunately. Nonetheless, I'm optimistic that I can speed up some more in these coming weeks and finish this looooong awaited episode in due time!

❀️ Thank you for your patience and understanding. Have a nice weekend! ❀️

Episode 6 - Progress Report #25

Hey everyone
I had a bit of a busy week, but I spent every free minute working on renders and managed to make some decent progress after all πŸ™‚.
The stats:
  • Writing: 100%
  • Coding: 90%
  • Environments: 75%
  • New Characters: 7/7
  • Background Characters: 24/40
  • Renders: 31%
    • Part 1 (9:00pm): 852/852
    • Part 2 (10:00pm): 253/360
    • Part 3 (11:00pm): 0/550
    • Part 4 (12:30am): 0/750
    • Part 5 (2:00am): 0/500
    • Part 6 (3:00am): 0/600
  • Music/Sound: 0%
  • Testing/Polish: 0%

πŸ“† Release date estimate: July/August 2025
I'm currently preparing the big scene of Part 2. This one is gonna be a challenge mostly in terms of the amount of people that are in it. I'm setting up plenty of background character props, and I'll have to employ some camera angle trickery as well to make this whole thing work, but I'm looking forward to how it'll turn out. And as a little tease for the patrons: The two ladies from the last preview are heavily involved in this scene πŸ˜‹.
The goal for next week is to finish Part 2. I also want to finally get one of the open bonus renders done (for Silver/Gold members). As you might have noticed, bonus stuff has been sparse recently. I will definitely finish the two renders from the latest request rounds, and I want to do something special for later in the month as well. But apart from that, I'll try to focus 100% on finishing Ep. 6, and minimize work on bonus stuff for a bit. Sorry about that.
When I'm done with Part 2, I also want to take another look at what's left to do, and how to get it all done as efficiently as possible. I'll likely post about my plans in next week's progress report.

❀️ Anyways... Thank you all for being here! Have a nice weekend! ❀️

Episode 6 - Progress Report #24

Hey everyone
I've spent this week working on more renders and some background characters as well 😊. Part 1 is finally finished and I'm currently working on a scene with a lot of background characters. I had to change some things in my workflow again, with how I deal with these background characters. It's been quite a technical challenge to figure out how to make crowded scenes like that. I've made some progress in this regard, but I'm still improving here.
Anyways, here are the progress stats:
  • Writing: 100%
  • Coding: 90%
  • Environments: 75%
  • New Characters: 7/7
  • Background Characters: 24/40
  • Renders: 26%
    • Part 1 (9:00pm): 852/852
    • Part 2 (10:00pm): 75/360
    • Part 3 (11:00pm): 0/550
    • Part 4 (12:30am): 0/750
    • Part 5 (2:00am): 0/500
    • Part 6 (3:00am): 0/600
  • Music/Sound: 0%
  • Testing/Polish: 0%
πŸ“† Release date estimate: July/August 2025
If you're interested in how the whole background character workflow looks like: Basically, I first create characters normally (although with much less time spent on them compared to the main characters). I have created reusable skin textures in 12 different skin tones, and then created 2 sets per tone in different resolutions. So when I work on a scene I place a group of background characters and pose them accordingly. After that I go through each character and use a (very buggy πŸ˜…) tool to lower their mesh resolution, with the final resolution depending on how far away they are from the camera. I apply the low-res skin textures and export the figure as an object. The export lowers file size but means I can no longer pose the figure. I import it again as an object, adjust some textures and save it as a reusable, finalized prop. Et voilΓ , I have a low-res prop of a background character that I can use in scenes. There's a little more things in there that I left out, but that's the gist of it.
Now, as you can see there's still quite some time spent on each background character, but the good thing is, once I have the prop I can reuse them in later scenes again. I just have to make sure the pose and resolution fits for what I'm using it for.
I'm also still trying to finesse how low I have to go with the resolution for optimal performance and whatnot. Also, some hair and clothes don't work well when lowering resolution, so there's a lot of trial and error involved still. But I'm confident that it's getting easier and faster the more I progress with the renders.

❀️ Enjoy your weekend! And thank you for your support! ❀️

Episode 6 - Progress Report #23

Hey everyone

  • New Characters: 7/7
  • Background Characters: 18/40

    • Part 5 (2:00am): 0/500
    • Part 6 (3:00am): 0/600
  • Music/Sound: 0%
  • Testing/Polish: 0%

πŸ“† Release date estimate: July/August 2025
The last scene of Part 1 needs a few more renders than I initially estimated. That scene is the biggest one in the game so far (400+ renders). Mostly because of the many variations on how it can play out. There's around 5 big ways how to go through it, with many smaller variations within. Or... you can just skip it pretty much entirely πŸ™‚. It's definitely the most complex scene in the game up to this point (in terms of variables/conditions).
I'm hoping to finish Part 1 very soon. Part 2 will have some smaller, but very fun scenes within, and also some of the more "experimental" sections that I've hinted at a while ago. I'm excited to get to it 😊.

❀️ Enjoy your weekend! ❀️

Episode 6 - Progress Report #22

Hey everyone
πŸ™ŒPraise to the Goddess πŸ™Œ for she has blessed me with a working PC πŸ™Œ
I finally got my new PC back and it seems like everything's fixed now 😊. I've been back working on renders since Wednesday. Setting the DAZ library up was bit of a pain in the butthole, but it looks like I got it all working now.
First impressions so far: Render times are down a little bit, from an average of ~35 minutes to ~25 minutes. But more importantly, loading and saving scenes have massively improved. Saving any scene used to cost me more than a minute, now I'm down to around 10 seconds. This will help me a lot in keeping the flow going without having to take a break after every render. Iray Previews are also a quite a bit faster now (this means loading a preview of how the final image will look like after setting up a scene, especially important to check lighting).
I haven't tested yet how it all holds up with big scenes with many background characters. I expect some mild improvements there as well. We'll see when I get to the bigger scenes eventually.
Here's the current progress:
  • Writing: 100%
  • Coding: 90%
  • Environments: 75%
  • New Characters: 7/7
  • Background Characters: 18/40
  • Renders: 16%
    • Part 1 (9:00pm): 560/720
    • Part 2 (10:00pm): 0/360
    • Part 3 (11:00pm): 0/550
    • Part 4 (12:30am): 0/750
    • Part 5 (2:00am): 0/500
    • Part 6 (3:00am): 0/600
  • Music/Sound: 0%
  • Testing/Polish: 0%

πŸ“† Release date estimate: July/August 2025
I am SO happy to finally be back working full force. The last couple weeks have been rather frustrating. But we're back now, now let's see if I can speed up the rendering process a bit πŸ™‚.

❀️ Enjoy your weekend! 🐰 Happy Easter! ❀️
