Hello Employees! Welcome to another developer blog for Under Contract! Lots to discuss, so let's dive right in!

As of now, the Introduction for and first half of the Finance Department aka Department 2 aka Chapter 2 of Under Contract has been completed. The total word count comes in at just over 25,000 words. To put that into perspective, the entire game that is available to the public right now is only 30,000 words. This would make department 2 twice the size of department 1!

This was a joint effort with our writing staff and the art team to make sure it all came together cohesively. Also, we did way too much research on MLM and Pyramid Schemes to write the jokes we have, so we hope you all enjoy the content once it is ready. The next step is to push it all into the game, which means transcoding all that text into the game's LocKit. Then translation, and LQA. 

Since our last Dev Blog, we have created a whole bunch of art and new characters to fill out the ranks of the Finance Department. It is my pleasure to introduce to you Mare and Puck, our two spunky twin demons who are the two minions Richard will face off against.

These two are a spunky collection of Sass, Wit, Ambition, and Incompetence. Quite the dynamic duo!

Naturally, Richard will get a slice of both girls as he adventures around the new landscape, with fully animated scenes, which include cumming animation and post cum animations. Something our audience has been asking for!

We also will be updating the Arcade mode to include 15 new reward images for our new girls Sinder, Mare, and Puck! So look forward to that as well!

The department overworld is also being built, naturally, since the Finance Department is a giant Pyramid Scheme, it makes sense that the world reflects this. So cash and jewels lay scattered around the landscape, and the dusty sands and hard stone slabs make up the environment that is literally a pyramid from Egypt. Both in design, and layout!

The final layout will change around a bit, but this is how we are looking right now.

The blue areas represent the first area of the department we are working on, the rest will come at a later date.

Hello employees! Welcome to another update for Under Contract version 0.4.7! Today we have a brand new gameplay system added to the game along with a bunch of quality-of-life fixes and we squash some very difficult-to-find bugs.

Oh yes, the long-awaited day has arrived. We have now added our arcade mode to Under Contract! Within this mode, players can play levels as long as they like, find tokens in the game, and unlock new sexy selfies of all the characters in Under Contract!

So far we have three levels to choose from each containing new hazards and powerups to use. Go for that top score and try to unlock everything in the shop!

The major reason this patch took so long to release was that we found a difficult-to-replicate bug, which some of the reviews on Steam seemed to reflect. Players would have their levels randomly end. For the life of us, the team could not find the cause for something like this, that was until we played in the arcade game mode.

It turns out that the game was allowing for players to grab falling gems after a cascade event triggers, if the player grabs them as they are falling the gems can sometimes combo in the hand of the player, or the player can grab mismatched gems (like a red and a yellow at the same time). If either event happens the level will just abruptly end.

This along with a bunch of other fixes have been added to the game!

I wanted to take a quick moment to first thank everyone for their patience as we fix up some of these annoying bugs. It has been a while since we patched and we intended to get this one out a lot sooner than we did. Having said that, the next patch is going to be focused on the beginning section of Department 2, aka the Finance Department. Let me just run down some details on what we are doing and the full extent of the content aiming to be in the next patch.

Lots of new content for sure, I would say as a percentage we are mostly done with the narrative, and just focusing on the animations and such.

Hello employees! We have been hard at work putting together everything we need for the second Department of Under Contract, and I wanna share our progress with you all! Just as a side note though, the team is kinda split between two major camps of work. The first is the programming and mechanics/systems development, and the second is narrative and art. The second Department is mostly a job for narrative and art, both take time to get right. So a new patch is due very soon to help you all with the wait which focuses on adding the “arcade mode” to the game with a very sizable sex gallery to unlock as you play through the new mode.

Okay! On with the progress!

Let’s introduce the new manager for the Finance Department. Her name is Sinder and she is going to be a whole lot of trouble. Overseeing the money-making schemes within the cultperation her job is to incentivize those under her to incentivize those under themselves. Souls are worth way more than any Monkey JPGs or Gumball Anime Tiddie GIFs, so when Richard is pushed into her domain, she can only take it personally.

Following her every move will be two new minions, both are still in development but here is a sneak peek of the first. They are designed to be twins, similar yet different. Unlike the nameless minions of the first department who were supposed to be numerous and uncountable, these two will be reappearing characters.

Help me, to help you, so you can help yourself…
The Finance Department is one big Pyramid scheme joke. Expect a lot of references to modern money-making. Dropshipping, Digital Coins, NFT’s, Shorting, etc. And as such the department layout is in the shape of a pyramid! Funny right? Also very original.

The 3D asset for the overworld is being crafted right now, so nothing super pretty to show so far.

Richard’s Shares
Those who have given Bliss the hard shafting will know of Richard’s new shares, these will play an important role in the future of the game. This will come into play as you level up your companions. For the time being the fate of the shares is the major focus for the Department 2 introduction. This has already been written, along with the video work for a new scene already completed.

Arcade and Stills
As I mentioned above, the next update to Under Contract will focus on the arcade mode which can be found on the main menu. This game mode is kinda an unlimited-style game, where levels can be played for as long as you like, doing so raises the level and the difficulty. Set your own high scores and play to find and grab as many “tokens” as possible. You can spend this currency in the “token shop”, here you can find 35 still sex images of all the current characters engaged in various hellish dickings.

As we add new characters to Under Contract they will also get their own stills in this mode to unlock. Here is a small sample of some of the images you can unlock via the system.

That’s all we have right now, as we build the new department things will naturally be dependent on our art teams to come together. We are estimating that we will have the first pass on art done in roughly 2 weeks. The first build won’t be a full department either, so we hope you all understand there is a bit of work ahead of us!

Hello employees! It is patch day for Under Contract and version 0.4.6 is ready to blow you away with our new enhancements to the base game formula!

New Powers
Every playable character in Under Contract now has the opportunity to level up and unlock a brand-new power gem! Here is how it works.

Every level you beat with your chosen companion gives them 10 experience points and 3 additional points for beating a level on Hard Difficulty.

To level up to level 2 with the chosen character you need to collect a total of 150 experience. Once you have enough that character on the party tab will be highlighted showing they are ready to level up.

Getting a new power will have you spinning on the roulette of possible combinations. Those current combinations are Yellow, Blue, Red, and Green color removal, Horizontal and Verticle line clear. We do plan to add more later once we get a better feel for the powers in the game. Things like a bomb gem, or something of the like.

Once unlocked, both new gems will begin appearing in the puzzle levels! We are still considering VS mode power gems, and if they even have a place in the game.

Rush Mode for Hard Difficulty
The last big feature added to version 0.4.6 is the new Hard Mode conclusion system called Rush Mode. This will increase the speed of the line drops as you near the end of the level, increasing the pace at which you need to play. We felt that those who enjoy playing on the hardest difficulty did not really see much change to their gameplay as the pace at which experienced players can clear levels is staggering. We hope this makes it a little more enjoyable for those looking to challenge themselves!

There were also a fair number of smaller fixes added in this patch, mostly focused on increasing load times based on the Unity video player which we use for transition animations.
