New Expansion: Chamber of Farts! Like any Sandbox game, I like to give players ultimate "freedom" and ultimate "choice" in their actions.
Drawing from Leisure Suit Larry, many, many people have been wondering, "Why can't I fart wherever I want to?" Do you remember that scene in Leisure Suit Larry 7 where Larry eats a bunch of bean dip and then clears out the "craps" table so he can be alone with Dewmi Moore? That's the kind of "Thinking Man's Fart Joke" that this game needs more of, and it's also good puzzle design.
I am pleased to announce The Five of a Kind: Ultimate Fart Collection. I set aside a few hundred dollars of the game's revenue (but after taxes it was shockingly close to a thousand dollars) to purchase a deluxe, designer, boutique collection of fart sounds of the highest calibre, quality, and style. These sounds were crafted by the finest "Farticians" and "Fartologists" the world has ever known, recorded in state-of-the art 48Khz, 16-bit stereo audio.
I've added a HUD Icon to the Game's interface to allow the player to rip a huge fart anywhere at anytime, just like the Zipper icon works. New Icon: Fart I've attached a video at the end of this post showing this ability in action.
I don't have the graphics to show you yet, but I'm in the processing of coding a "Design Your Own Fart" feature. It will have the following functions:
Sliders for Wet/Dry, Amplitude, Pitch, and Health Status
Ability to to connect with others online by sharing your custom farts and importing custom farts created by other users
Ability to share your farts on Facebook, X, Bluesky, Tindr, and LinkedIn
Five of a Kind Soundtrack: Reloaded! As many of you long timers know, I was primarily a musician before I decided to make this game and so I've always wanted to have a coherent, consistent musical direction. When the first demo of the game was put out, 75% of the game's music was made by me. Over time, I've (correctly) realized that my bandwidth is too valuable to spend much time at all on creating music, so done my best to find approximations in royalty free music catalogues (with mixed results).
In recent updates, I've grown increasingly frustrated that the options available to me cannot get close enough to what I want (The music in Jasmine's bedroom is a perfect example of this).
At the same time, I have become fascinated by gamelan and steel drum music to the point where I hear that kind of music when working on the game and I cannot get it out of my head.
So, I went and commissioned about 12 songs that will form the entirety of the new-and-improved Five of a Kind Soundtrack. I think these songs really streamline and simplify things on my end. I just have to pick one of 12 songs and immediately the game music is tied down to a single, repetitive leitmotif. Also, these songs have an underlying... "masculinity" to them that some players have been asking for.
See the second attached video for a quick demonstration of the new soundtrack. Get used to these songs; you'll be hearing them A LOT.
Character Design: Elderly Meredith One of the fun ideas Caydence brings to the game is the concept of time travel. Of course this gives an opportunity to reference Back to the Future, which is "essential 80's", imo, but it opens the door to the possibility of MC going and visiting some of the characters in a different time period.
Silly me, my default assumption would be that people would want to go back to the 60's and visit twenty-something Meredith and Irene, but I've heard more stridently from certain quarters about visiting elderly Meredith.
