Hello and welcome to my SubscribeStar page. I'm a solo developer creating adult visual novels of fantasy, sci-fi, and horror. Currently in development is Faerie Stories, un urban fantasy visual novel.

About Faerie Stories 

Faerie Stories is a five episode collection of urban fantasy / modern fairy tale romance short stories. You will be able to play each completed episode as a standalone. Or you can play them in series, carrying over your character and decisions from one to the next like a typical visual novel, only with time skips between episodes.

You play as a young man in the suburbs with a loving--if a bit eccentric--family, loyal friends, and an adoring girlfriend. School is ending soon, and you're eager to start the next chapter of your life. But in the final months before graduation, you find yourself caught up in a hidden world of magic, monsters, and a very thirsty pixie. In the midst of all that, you'll somehow find time to spend with nearly a dozen romantic interests.

Set in a Midwestern American suburban city during the mid 2010s, Faerie Stories covers a few short months in the life of your 18-year-old protagonist. My follow-up project, Faerie Tails, will catch up with your reluctant hero a decade later. Development of that will kick in after Faerie Stories is completed.

At present, my goal is to release at least the first two full episodes of Faerie Stories by the end of this year, and the remaining three next year.

Delays


Unfortunately, the demo release I had planned for this weekend will have to be postponed. Maybe it was all but inevitable. Giving a date before having everything in the can was bound to bite me in the end, I suppose.
By the end of this past weekend, I did manage a very rough and incomplete build. It's in no way ready for public consumption, neither as a demo nor even a test build. In order to work it into something I'm happy releasing, I still, at minimum, need to:
  • Rewrite & re-render 1 scene
  • Add at least two short, minor scenes and one important story scene
  • Tweak the character/relationship mechanics, such as they are
  • Expand the lewd scene
  • Polish the UI
  • Choose and add at least a few music tracks
That's all for the basic public version. I also need to add and extend some scenes for the supporter-only version.
How long the delay will be I can't say. If it lasts more than a week or two, I'll likely forego a demo release at all. If that's the case, I'll push for a full part one release as quickly as possible. I'd like to have it all wrapped by the end of April, when I had originally planned for the full part one release. In the meantime, I'll post additional previews and other content.

Alicia preview

 With less than two weeks to go, there is still plenty to do, but I'm still confident in a March 30 release. Most of the heaviest lifting--i.e. the rendering--is done, which is a huge relief.
As it stands, I've completed all but one scene of the story renders and half of those are through post. A few need to be redone, and I'm sure I'll find a few more as I do post-work on the rest. The bulk of the artwork left is primarily GUI assets.
The writing and dialogue are finished. I'll give it at least one more pass for editing and revising, but otherwise that is done.
The code work that remains is half adding the rest of the images to RenPy and half customizing some screens and windows. That can be somewhat time consuming and tedious, but it is what it is.
I've done some early testing on the roughly 1/4 that is fully coded and the rest that is only lacking images. Nothing has exploded so far. I found shockingly few typos, which tells me I'll have to look even harder the next time I run through it.
That's about all for now. No doubt I'll be working right up to the end to push this out on time, but that's how it goes.
