Late pt.9 snippet:

Jane hummed to herself, carefully flipping the pancake over. She didn’t do flashy stuff in the kitchen, but good, hearty food usually appeared on the other side. As she made to reach for the maple syrup to check the dates, she noticed a sock lying by the sofa.

‘Bitch better learn to clear up,’ she thought to herself, yet the presence of it seemed to inflate her lungs, her mind tumbling back over the early morning when she’d woken up spooning him. As the warmth began to descend south and inflate her boxers, she fidgeted with her hair before reaching to pick out the maple syrup sat in the back of the cupboard with dust on, and huffed at the near-decade old sell-by-date.

She imagined drizzling maple syrup over the pancakes, mouth watering a touch until her twisted brain conjured something even more pulsating; her ball-syrup drizzling over Freddie’s face.

She began to rub the steel bar in her boxers. The pancakes were ready, sizzling and turning golden at the edges… but she had no toppings or condiments…. As she loaded them onto plates, she wondered how she could bring surprise pancakes with no toppings to him in bed?? Was that even legal?!
A pang of fear at potentially being alone once more hit her, Freddie walking out bereft at being served dry pancakes seeping into her mind, and she snorted.
