 Hello. I'm The Naughty Captain and I'm creating erotic games for an adult audience.

Summer Scent is my first project.



It's the beginning of summer. Jack is 18 years old and has just finished high school by graduating.
He has a tense relationship with Eve, his childhood friend who seems to have disliked him cordially for a few years.
Jack's parents had left town for a week, Eve invites her best friend, Cassie, to join them.
They have the house and the pool for them alone.
How Jack will handle the situation depends on you.



The game is a visual novel. Your decisions will have consequences and will influence the story and its conclusion.
You will be able to change the name of the main characters.
Images are Full HD renders (1920x1080).



The game should be rather short but it will be an adequate size for a first experience. I hope you will enjoy it.

Latest version available to 5$ subscribers : Summer Scent V0.3.
It covers the story up to the end of Day 3. 

You can download Summer Scent 0.3 in the pinned post below.

The latest free version available is Summer Scent V0.2.1.
It covers only the first and second days of the game.

 I'm working with Renpy and Daz Studio. These tools are new to me but I'm working hard to master them. I'm confident I can improve myself and the quality of my game.
 
 Playing my game, you may find bugs and probably a lot of typos.

Dev Update #22

Here comes the time of the weekly dev update!

Scene 2 is fully rendered.
Scene 3 and 4 are written.

I'm currently working on scene 3 posing.

Just like scene 2, scene 3 is a complicated scene with several possible variations. Scene 2 ended being 30+ render, chances are that scene 3 won't be any lighter.

On the writing side of things, I've spent a lot of time writing scenes 2 and 3, but scene 4 was easier.  I will probably revise it a bit while working on the posing (As I always do. With posing often come new ideas.), but for now, I'm pretty satisfied with what I wrote.

I also spent some time working on a render for a new title screen.

As you can see, the girls are getting new clothes.

Dev Update #21

A quick point on what I'm working on right now :
Let's be honest, the last 2 weeks haven't been the most productive. I managed to get some things done but it's far from satisfying. Luckily for me, there are only one Christmas holidays per year.
I'm now 100% back to work on Day 4 content.

Day 4 is fully outlined and I have planned a lot of juicy stuff for all paths. It will be some kind of decisive turning point in Jack's relationships with the girls.

Day 4 content should represent 20 different scenes.

Scene 1 and 2 are fully written.
Scene 1 is rendered.
I'm working on Scene 2 renders.

Scene 2 was a pretty complex scene to write, with a lot of variants.
I also started writing scene 3 but it's far from finished.


I have a lot of work ahead of me. I'm going back to it.

Dev Update #20 - Summer Scent V0.3.5 release

Summer Scent V0.3.5 is now available for level 2 supporters.
You will find the links in this post.

As said in my previous Dev Update, there is no new content in V0.3.5. This update is mainly about a reworked GUI.

Here is the changelog again :

V0.3.5 Changelog :
  • New GUI. I tried to make something clean and sober while still aiming for a bit of personality.
  • The gallery. I couldn't make renpy default gallery system to work properly. So I coded my own. You will have to replay the game to unlock images.
  • Bug corrections. Some undefined variables are now defined, some badly indented blocks are now in their correct place.
  • I've found and corrected the bug that was preventing me from generating translation files. So I can now seriously think about internationalization. Maybe a french version in a future update?

About V0.4 :
This week hasn't been as productive as I hoped it to be but I worked on V0.4.
  • I reworked the outline of Day 4 to include new ideas.
  • I assembled the master bedroom (in which Cassie is sleeping.). It's complete and ready to be used in renders. 
  • I reworked Cassie's eyes. In previous renders, I used a custom shader for her eyes. Sometimes it looked great, and sometimes not so good. I finally gave her new eyes to solve the problem.
  • Scene 1 is written, I'm currently working on the renders.

Dev Update #19 - Summer Scent V0.3.5


Here is v0.3.5. Early access for Level 3 supporters.

There is no new content in V0.3.5.

What is new?
  • New GUI. I tried to make something clean and sober while still aiming for a bit of personality.
  • The gallery. I couldn't make renpy default gallery system to work properly. So I coded my own. You will have to replay the game to unlock images.
  • Bug corrections. Some undefined variables are now defined, some badly indented blocks are now in their correct place.
  • I've found and corrected the bug that was preventing me from generating translation files. So I can now seriously think about internationalization. Maybe a french version in a future update?

I've tried to build an android port, and it works, but I have to adapt the GUI to fit a mobile phone. It's not ready yet. I don't know if I'll provide an android build for V0.3.5 but there will be one for V0.4.

About V0.4 :
  • I'm working on it. As V0.3.5 is released I can go back to creating content (I actually started working on V0.4 several days ago. I'm an obsessive writer who can't stop thinking about the story he is creating.)
  • I finished outlining Day 4. It's difficult to correctly evaluate the amount of content it represents but it shouldn't be any smaller than Day 3. I can promise you progress, and surprises.
  • I'm currently building Cassie's room. Jack will probably visit it in V0.4. You will soon have it as a preview render.


I'm going back to work. I won't be able to sleep before I find the perfect grey to paint these walls.

The demo version of Summer Scent also has been upgraded to V0.2.1.

About V0.3.5 :
  • The new GUI is done. It's nothing crazy but it's still better than the default one.
  • For some mysterious reason, I couldn't get the gallery system included in renpy to work. So I coded my own.
  • I'll release V0.3.5 for level 3 subscribers next week.

About V0.4 :
  • I've started outlining Day 4. I hope to finish that by the end of the week so I can actually start writing scenes and working renders as soon as possible.
  • I've reworked Eve and Cassie breasts a bit. Shapes remain the same, but the nipples should look better.

    I have a lot of work ahead. I'm going back to it!

Dev Update #17


My level 3 supporters seem to have greatly appreciated the content of V0.3 and honestly, it makes me pretty happy. Positive feedbacks are very motivating.

I'm currently working on a new GUI.
Here is a preview of what it looks like.
It's still a work in progress.

I'm adding a notification system so you don't miss it when you gain points. Renpy natively proposes it's own notification system but it's a bit limited. I had to modify it to have it behaving as I want it to.

Also on my task list for V0.3.5 :
  • Rework every menu and every frame.
  • Adding gallery/replay screen.
  • Tracking and correcting a strange and mysterious bug that prevents me from generating translations files.
  • Look into an android version.

There won't be any preview render this week... because I'm currently not rendering anything.

Dev Update #16 - V0.3 Release

V0.3 is now available to download for level 3 subscribers!
I hope you'll like it!
Level 2 patrons will have access to this new version in 7 days.
Change Log :
  • Day 3 content is here. Day 3 consists of 338 new renders and 4450 lines of code and dialogue.
  • Added an interface to track the girls' stats points. It's ugly.
  • Added several new triggers on Day 1 and Day 2. That means that your previous saved game won't be compatible with V0.3.
  • Added some buttons on the main menu.
  • A "Credits" page now replaces the "About".
If you find any bug or typo or broken English, please report it through discord.
Feedbacks are very welcome!

About the next release.
Before working on V0.4, I'm going to take some time to work on the task list below.
  • A new GUI
  • A gallery / replay mode
  • A more robust point system
  • Android version
I also have ideas about some kind of "visual" walkthrough. I want to experiment a bit with it and see if I can integrate it into the game.
I won't spend more than a couple of weeks on this and will release a V0.3.5 when it's done.

Dev Update #15


Rendering Eve's last scene took a bit more time than I thought it would but it's done.
I still didn't touch post-processing but I worked the code instead, and it's almost finished. I think that I have one day of post-processing and one more day of testing / debugging ahaed of me.
That means we should see the release for level 3 subscribers at the start of next week.

I couldn't put everything I wanted in this version. Like polishing the Interface, adding a gallery, and so on. I'll probably make another release this month with all the improvements I wished to add but couldn't in V0.3.

Going back to that code.

Quick update.
I finished posing Eve's second conclusion scene. Renders should be done by tomorrow morning. One more scene to pose and render and after a couple more days of coding, postprocessing, and testing, V0.3 should be ready for release for Level 3 subscribers.

A really quick update :
Cassie's scenes are fully written and rendered.
Eve's scenes are written, the first and shortest scene is rendered.
The render included in this post is from Eve's second scene.
Quality is good but it took me 3 hours to render. It's obviously too much when you're planning to produce 30 to 40 renders in the same light setting.
I'm going to run a couple more test renders to find a good compromise between quality and decent rendering time.

I'm going back to work.

Heya!
Here is a quick update :
There will be 6 conclusion scenes in v0.3.
3 for Cassie, and 3 for Eve.
Cassie's scenes are fully written and 2 are already rendered. I'm working on the renders of the third one.
Eve's first and second scenes are also completely written.
I'll have finished all of Cassie's stuff and the writing of Eve's last scene by the end of this week.
I hope to complete everything by the end of next week.

For now, V0.3 contains 3200 lines of code and dialogue and 240 renders.

About Post-processing.

For V0.1 and V0.2 I used some very basic post-processing techniques to tweak my renders. The results were not that bad but it lacked precision and identity. Therefore I'm working on a new way of working that part.

Here is an example.

This is a render from V0.3. No post-processing has been done. It's straight out of Daz studio. It lacks a bit of contrast.


Here is the same render with the post-processing I used to apply during V0.1 and V0.2.
Contrast is now undeniably there, but the result is a bit brutal.


Here is the same render post-processed with a different technique. It's a bit more time consuming but the results are, in my opinion, definitely better. Contrast is there, details are preserved, light is better balanced.

Now, for the "identity" part, I thinking about playing with filtered light as in the example below.  Again, the same render, new post-process applied,  filtered light.

What do you think of it?

Dev Update #11

My estimation in the last dev update was pretty accurate.
What is done :
Scenes 1 to 11 are written, rendered and coded.
For now, V03 contains 2500 lines of codes and dialogues and 209 renders.
What remains to be done :
Are remaining the last 6 scenes which conclude the day depending on your choices. I almost finished writing the first one and I already started working on renders.
These 6 scenes are the most important part of the release. As "naughty" scenes are what defines a "naughty" game, I have to take special care in producing them.
I also have to review each render and post-process when needed.

What is done :
Scenes 1 to 7 are written, rendered and coded.
Scene 8 is written and coded, rendering is ongoing.
Scene 9 and 10 are almost written and the rendering should be easy. I think I can have them fully done by the end of the weekend.

For now, V0.3 contains 2000 lines of code and dialogue and 155 renders.

What remains to be done :
I still have 7 more scenes to add, 6 of them being "Conclusion scenes", one for each path, and I'm pretty sure that the posing will be complex and time-consuming.
