Jack is 18 years old. He has just graduated from high school and is preparing himself to enjoy his summer vacation. With a heatwave hitting the country and his parents gone for a week, he plans to play a lot of Call of Shooty under the fresh kiss of the a/c and regularly dip himself in the pool.

But Eve, his sister, has a different agenda. They can hardly stand each other and yet will have to spend the week alone together. Or maybe not, as Eve has invited her best friend, Cassie, to join her for a week of lounging by the pool.

How Jack will handle the situation depends on you.
 

 
Summer Scent is a branching story that your decisions and actions will shape. Through a combination of key choices and affinity points, you will influence the narrative and decide a path for you to walk. Your choices will have consequences, good or bad, pleasurable or nefarious, wholesome or destructive. There are eighteen different paths for you to explore.

Summer Scent includes some strong content that may not be suitable for your tastes. Some scenes may also show disturbing and violent outcomes.

This game is not for the faint of heart.

 I do not own a Mac, therefore I did not test the mac release.

  • The credit screen has been updated.
  • Some Achievements have been corrected.
  • Several misassigned variables have been corrected. This doesn't impact any choice as of Day 6 Part 3 but may induce some issues in the future.

  • New content. 7 scenes (Scenes 19 to 25), 29 417 words, 10 000 lines of code, 959 images for 1015 total renders.
  • Added a text message interface to display text interactions. Only for Day 6 part 3 content for now.
  • The inkling module has been removed. It is replaced by the lifeline, which will allow for a more precise display of the whole trigger chain.
  • Stealing the panties during day 2 will now lock you into either the Moronic Hero, Psychotic Knight or Evil Asshole paths.
  • Jack cannot be friendly with Luke anymore during the coffee shop event on day 3.
  • Being a cad during the night pool event on day 3, is now only available on the Moronic Hero, Psychotic Knight and Evil Asshole paths.

Dev Update #239


I'm a bit late.
Everything has been post-processed, and all images have been integrated. However, I still have a few things I need to work on and I couldn't work on the music either. I hoped to have a working build today and have the beta running this weekend, but that ship has sailed.
I think I need at least one more day to work on code stuff and a couple of pseudo animations. There are some things I want to try with impact frames. I'm not sure if it will work in the context of an extremely short dynamic but I really want to try it. It could be great.
There is also some special stuff I want to add to the achievements. Something special as a reward for some of the achievements you will be able to unlock in this update, but maybe I'll postpone it to a later patch, in a few weeks.

Dev Update #238


What a week.
As most, if not all, of you know, Patreon removed my account from their platform. I tried to appeal, but they barely answered me and I felt like they didn't even want to hear me out. There was never really a chance to get my page back. With it is gone most of the income Summer Scent was generating. Times were already difficult, they are now dire.
I have now to rely on Subscribe Star to fund and publish the game and my supporter's count is rather low. I have no doubt that it will improve in the coming weeks as more and more of my supporters will come to subscribe to this page. However, I also know that Subscribe Star isn't the most popular crowdfunding platform out there and some might be afraid or unwilling to support me here. I understand that perfectly. Subscribe Star is my only option.

So. What to do now? I'm not going to let go of Summer Scent, that is for sure. I haven't worked on that project for the last 4 years to abandon it now. So I'm going to keep going and hope for the situation to improve.
My first objective is to complete and publish the current update. Then I will have a build compatible with Steam policies. It will most likely take months before the game is actually on sale but it will get there eventually.
Fingers crossed.

Despite that fiasco, I made some progress.
All scenes are fully rendered and coded. Day 2 Scene 1 and 10 are fully post-processed. As always, post-processing is the most boring and painfully tiring part of the job. It's so repetitive that it hurts. It would be easier to post-process every image as I render them, but I prefer to do them all in one batch to ensure the consistency of the results.

Next week I should be able to completely finish the coding and the post-processing. This means I should have a functioning build before next weekend. I hope to have, at least the music selection completed as well. I have found a lot of interesting tracks, and I now have to make some difficult choices.

I'm done posing scene 27. It took me a bit more time than I anticipated but it's done. The renders look good, in my opinion. And I'm usually pretty difficult to satisfy. I'm especially happy with how a few shots came out. Light was very difficult on these, and it came out great.

Next week : Coding and post-processing, maybe even the definitive image integration.
And then, the final run on the music.
I won't add music to the whole game, for now. I'm going to focus on the reworked content and Day 6. I have yet to thoroughly browse that promising licensing platform I talked about a few months ago, but I'm confident it will have what I'm looking for.

I don't do ETA anymore, but I think we can say that a release is coming.

Dev Update #236


A lot of issues this week.
Several shots from Segment 4 came back with clipping issues. I had to correct them. Jack's trousers look great but sometimes they get a bit unruly. And especially annoying as they start clipping only at high subD. meaning during the actual rendering, and not during the previews.
I also had some simulation issues in Segment 5. In my script, Jack was supposed to come into the scene wearing a jacket that he would throw on the sofa. Half a dozen shots into the segment, I realized that the jacket would be impossible to simulate. I tried several combinations of parameters for both dForce and Marvelous Designer, to no avail. It took me several hours to accept that I wouldn't be able to simulate it correctly. That was stupid. I should have let go quicker. Anyway, I had to rewrite a couple of paragraphs and get rid of that jacket off-camera.
That made me reconsider a few things in the flow of the segment. I made another cut but I'm not really satisfied. I'll probably have to improvise a bit in the posing. The render count should stay the same, however.
And to conclude with the issues of this week, I decided that Jack should take a shower in that scene. And it's not going well. The water looks like crap. I'm looking for a solution.

Not everything is dark, however. 
I progressed on the rendering front. I rendered up to shot #189, and even if I have some shots to rerun, I'm satisfied with what I'm seeing. The light looks good, details too. Even the shots I was worried about in Segment 3 came out better than I expected.
I have about 35 shots left to pose. The next ten will be a bit intense to work on but I should be able to finish it next week. I don't see how I could encounter any issues in the remaining shots.
