Don't Cry, Zora

And, one by one, they slowly join the vigil. The circumstances are atypical of the world these women have known for years now. They all know they're in a realm of fiction, but reality now bleeds through in a new, painful way. Their author and creator grieves; they find themselves grieving alongside him, casting aside the difficulties and antagonism for the moment.

A noble woman who adored them all met her end a scant few days ago. A nonviolent, peaceful end on her own terms, the best possible in the circumstances. Her son at her side, rosaries in hand. 

A noble woman...who loved these six in particular. In the violent, blood-soaked world of Demon Hunter Zora, such an occurrence is rare. But it's here Zora finds herself, surrounded by friends, neutrals and even her sworn enemy...united for this time in their collective lives.

The grief is strong. Painful, even. Zora's used to the real world bleeding through-- how else would a demonslayer find herself in quicksand, Like Likes and other such peril so often?-- but never like this.

It's new. And the new is frightening to them all. Even Raven, in her nigh-infinite power. Even Hikari, having found her normally-steely exterior shattered. Even Maria, still corrupted and twisted...finds her remaining humanity drawn to this quiet vigil, the only sounds being those of nature surrounding them...and the gentle sobs of the fierce demon hunter and those with her.

Strength comes in many forms, it's said. Some of which are unexpected, of a kind those with poorer perception would dismiss as weakness.

Six women, all very different...but united. If only the circumstances were better.

Rest in Peace, Mom. I love you so much... I miss you.
