A Vacation Mode enabled

Rycharde's Realm has decided to take a break from March 02, 2024 till June 02, 2024, but you can subscribe anyway.
Rycharde's Realm has left this message for you:

Since the game, Pangaia Hinxworth, is taking (a lot) longer than anticipated, I am going on "vacation" during which I will complete the Prologue and release it. Then I will come back from my so-called vacation. I am sorry for this inconvenience, both for the subscribers here and the public at large who are waiting for this game. 😥

Ignore the ending of the vacation date. SubScribestar will not allow me to set up a vacation without one, sooo... Hopefully, I will get the game out before then and stop the vacation.

Found a simple codex code for Ren'Py

Yep, I found what I have been looking for: Ren'Py Codex screen by Skolaztika!!! Of course, this gave me LOTSA stuff I had to get codexed, beta-tested, etcetera.

Now, before you guys rip into me about coding a lot of new stuff, I have limited the items in the Codex to those that appear in the dialogue in the 1st part of the prologue. Though, the thing I have found most time-consuming is beta-testing. You know, mistyping Ren'Py coding and such.

Also, it took me over a week, almost two, to fully recover from that seizure I mentioned earlier. It normally takes me a day to get my mind up and running, MAYBE two. That damn seizure was very potent, to put it mildly... Don't you luv IRL?! 🤨

So now, I am working on the limited number of Codex entries and, of course, the dialogues left for the Prologue, Part 1.

I will see you later, hopefully when I make my initial release.

PS Don't forget, I'm on "vacation" right now, so any paying subscribers are not being charged until I make that initial release. 😎

I was hospitalized on Tuesday

On Tuesday morning, I was working on my computer. The next second as far as I was concerned, I was tangled up with my chair, difficult to think, and after a minute or so, I passed out. I then woke up on a gurney in an emergency room finding it very difficult to think and talk coherently, even with the help of hospital staff.

I faded in and out of consciousness over the next few hours. By that evening, my brain finally began to recover from a massive seizure, and I could respond to a few of the queries.

Seizures are unfortunately not new to me. I have had two strokes at the ages of 8 and 13, as well as neurosurgery just after my second stroke. Seizures have been part of my life on and off since.

The strength of this seizure was immense when compared to others I've experienced over the past few years. Plus, for over two decades, all of these seizures have come with a bit of a warning giving me time to lay down. This one came out of the blue.

As I lay there in the hospital bed Wednesday, I could not think of any scenario to explain this dramatic instantaneous onset and the overall strength of the seizure itself.

The hospital neurologist dropped by to check me out to see if I was recovering well when I mentioned that my soon-to-be ex-primary doctor had injected 3 vaccines Monday. (I cannot recall why I brought that up since my brain was still foggy.) He told me that vaccines increase the likelihood of seizures. This was a surprise.

My doctor did mention that vaccines can cause problems, though he NEVER said anything about seizures, which he of course knew I suffered from since I am an epileptic. I understood the issues this may cause would be enhancing something similar to a strong cold or flu, or the like, nothing more.

Now, I have a STRONG immune system. I so rarely catch even the smallest of colds. I cannot remember how many years since I last had one. That, and my dad was in the military, every 3 years we moved to another base. He was stationed in Germany twice. I recall we had a list of vaccines we had to take before each trip to Europe.

So, with these in mind, I was confident in my ability to handle the 3 vaccines.

IF my doctor had mentioned this would enhance the likelihood of bringing on a seizure, I would have immediately changed my mind, taking only one.

I returned home last night, feeling a lot better, but still dealing with post-seizure symptoms, enough to be annoying, but otherwise not problematic.

I have contacted the center where my doctor has his office, telling of what has happened. I was expecting a callback today, though I have an appointment for my bi-annual checkup on Monday when I will talk to them then.

I have bummed around on the net doing nothing today, not even gaming. I will be working on my game tomorrow.

By the way, I polled you all on whether I should release the seven scenes I have rendered so far or first finish the last two scenes of the prologue. One hundred percent of the voters want me to release the prologue as it is now. I'll release the final scenes later.

That about does it for me, so I'll see you later.

An example of why I am taking a semi-vacation

I've been battling financial and other IRL issues which have not been kind to my Bipolar symptoms (depression and anxiety). The financial problems have been taken care of. 🎉

The vacation I mentioned is for the subscribers of this account. No one is paying me during this time, even though I am still working on Pangaia Hinxworth.

That said, here is a minor oops I found after rendering a pic for the game. Of course, my mild OCD kicked in sending me back to Daz (fortunately, I had not moved Bor and Karrhig), but I found due to the way the rope segments are designed, I could not fix it easily. I would have to redo it. My OCD is NOT that bad. 😉

For those who notice this and rag on me after I release this, I'd like to pass on a "raspberry" to you. 😋

I have been thinking, since this is to be a lengthy scene (62 currently renders completed), probably longer than Scene 7 at 235 renders, which took forever when compared with the time I thought it would take, I'm planning on releasing the Prologue in 2-parts. Part one will be scenes 1-7, and part two will be scenes 8 and 9.

I still have to complete the dialogue and some minor coding, but waiting for the rendering for scenes 8 and 9 will wait till the next update.

What is your thought on this?

Approaching the middle of scene 8

The rendering process for the Pangaia Hinxworth Prologue is still going on, currently at 57 renders, which is lower than what I want, but...
Bor crossing the Khig Kalduhr bridge

Some of this slow progress is due to my systems speed, giving me 1 to 2+ hours per render, sometimes approaching 3, not taking into account moving and posing models, camera angles, setting up any lighting changes needed (which, IMHO, I'm getting pretty DAHUM good at 😎), etcetera.
Before and After adding a Spotlight
Unfortunately, I'm dealing with other IRL issues which continue to bite me in the ass and other sensitive locations. 😶

The end of this half is coming shortly, though I am juggling what the second half of this scene will intail. I have a rough idea of the battle that will take place, just not that many details.

After the end of this scene there is one more... Well, same place, but after the battle that will happen here, it will be in the near future, where I will have a brief fly by showing the aftermath. A quick, 15-20 renders, and the prologue will be rendered fully. 😄

Beyond rendering, I've done a bit of dialogue, coding, and the like. I'm also in search of a codex/journal code package since there will be A LOT of background info to beef up the depth of my world, Pangaia. Character backstories, the sapient and sentient species that abound over the planet and beyond, geography of the area around the city of Hinxworth, throughout the nation of Afallon, and far beyond, major historical episodes, and far more will be chronicled here.

Till next devlog, ciao.

Slow work on Scene 8 of Prologue

It's been a slow build on Scene 8 of Pangaia Hinxworth's Prologue due to IRL crap. One of the reasons behind the "Vacation" for subscription payment I announced a few days ago. Here is a sneak peek at one of the renders:

This took almost 2 hours to finish, not counting character placement, just the rendering process. The renders with all ten explorers present take 2++ hours, plus character placement setup time.

Below is a brief look at my progress:
Planning Scenes: (9/9) 100%

Working on Scene 8 + Keket in Flight render

I've been working on the beginnings of Scene 8. I found a problem: don't try to render underwater with volcanic rifts (look at Beneath Fire Mountain and Zharakadum BFM to see what I'm working with). Even looking up to see how the upper world looks beyond the water, everything is lit up from yellow to red, even the surface of the water, like everything is an emissive light source. 🤣🤣

Kinda got burned out after a couple of tries at the underwater thang, so I quickly did the above (I saved a character subset I have following Daz 3D Beginners Tutorial: Saving Character Subsets by Rouko on YouTube).

'Til the next devlog, see ya.
