Andromeda 0.5 Briefing 4


Sorry that this progress update is coming out so late. The past week and a half I have been busy readjusting my schedule yet again to fit my actual work schedule after having finished the job training 2 weeks ago. Also sorry about no pictures this time.

Now for the progress update itself. I didn't manage to get much work done on the script itself this month. I only managed about 100 lines of code. I have basically wrapped up setting up what I had of scenes only having like 3 left to set up. I didn't do any renders this month since my work in DAZ itself was focused on just setting the scenes up to render at a later date.

I did manage to fill out more of the "series bible" so that, hopefully this month, when I have more time to actually work on the script itself it will be easier to write out the scenes where we get to know more of the crew that we will interact with. These scenes in particular are the ones that really slow down work on the script, because like I mentioned last time I didn't really have a fleshed out series bible. To give a better idea of what I had when it comes to the characters, most of them only had basic information like name, name meaning, age, rank, position, ethnicity, height, three sizes, and any preexisting relationships*. Some also had a favorite quote, history/background, and their personality filled out, but that was only the case for a couple.

Another cause for delay this month was that I have another project that I was working on well before this project was even an idea in my head. I have been trying to build enough of a buffer on that project so that I could take it easy only working on that project once or twice a week and so that should something happen I would also have plenty of time to rebuild the buffer. Sadly though I haven't really been able to build up what I feel is a large enough buffer. My hope is that within the next few days that project will have built up enough buffer that it won't cause any issues with this one again for a long while.

With all of this in mind and with me not really having any more scenes to setup, I still need to render them but that can wait until later. I am going to continue work on the remaster now instead of waiting until after this release to resume that. Lucky starting with 0.4 I had already sort of settled into my new workflow for renders so most of them should be just fine to start up, make a few minor adjustments, and then setting them to render until they hit 99.9% convergence which is easily doable for even some of the busier scenes ever since I upgraded my GPU to a 3080 a few months back.

*In this case when I say preexisting relationship I don't mean if they already had a husband or boyfriend prior to the start of the game, but rather if they had a preexisting relationship with the MC. For example Birgitta, the head nurse and the nurse we will generally be interacting with in this game, is an old Ex-girlfriend of the MC. They separated amicably and still stayed friends who talked every once in a while. They only broke up, because at the time the MC wasn't looking to settle down, and Birgitta was. But as a result of the war Birgitta has had a hard time finding the time to go on dates and find someone to settle down with while staying in the military and so she has remained single.
