Welcome Passengers of Fligth 172!

I'd like my very first 172 Patreon post to be for setting expectations.

When it comes to any long-term project, it is important to manage the expectations of everyone involved. Too high of expectations and when release comes around readers are doomed for disappointment (just ask Peter Molyneux). On the other hand, too low of expectations and readers lose interest and forget about the project entirely.

Who is Grizzlebubs?

Hello ladies and gentlemen. This is your captain speaking. On behalf of Grizzlebub Games and out crew (it's just me), welcome aboard Flight 172! Allow me to introduce myself. First and foremost, I'm a software developer by day and an AVN developer by night. I've been developing in one form or another for the last 20 years. Fun fact, my first game was actually on a TI-83+ Graphing calculator by in high school. I can't say much more than that regarding my day job (NDAs and all), but I will say it's boring stuff.

Many of you now are probably doing the math, and yes, I'm 39 years old, which does make me quite old relative to the AVN development community.

This does create some unique advantages and disadvantages that other AVN developers don't have. Ignoring things like life experiences and what not, I want to focus on the disadvantages. Mainly because it is these disadvantages that will 'affect' you guys the most.
  • I've been happily married for seventeen years with an 11 years old son that I love with all my being. Though I hesitate to call this a disadvantage, it does complicate things in reference to rendering and developing an AVN.
  • While script writing and some coding can take place during the day while my son is awake, this is (obviously) not true with rendering. Rendering is limited to after he goes down to bed, starting at 10 PM and going until I die of exhaustion. Considering I have a day job, you can imagine that my development time is a lot less than the more traditional AVN developer.

I know many will put two-and-two together and ask... well, then why create an AVN in the first place? I've enjoyed AVNs for a long time and even prior I enjoyed dungeon mastering and crafting weird and harrowing stories for my players. Being an AVN developer is a lot like being a dungeon master, I have a story I want to tell, and I'm excited to share it with all my players!

When??

This is where honesty and openness come into play. I fully understand a lot of people are passionate about the AVNs they enjoy and want to read them as soon as possible. When will the Prologue be released? I don't know, I am hoping for a late 2026 to early 2027 release, but I can't put a pin in it. This ultimately depends on how quickly I get a hang of animation, rendering and the entire development process.

Why Subscribe?

If you see the vision and believe in the unique story that I want to make, then any amount is appreciated! The truth is, I want for Flight 172 to be like no other AVN you've experienced. There will be romance, intrigue, heartbreak, death and betrayal. It is ultimately a story of hope and of the strength of human endurance. A story of passion, as those left in the wreckage must learn to love and support each other. In a 'dog eat dog world', the survivors must learn that it isn't always about being the bigger dog... but about being the better human.

Every survivor will leave this story affected by this tragedy in one way or another... some more than others... and some may not even survive...

I'll keep posting regular updates including renders here, but if you want to be a part of my discord community and attend one of my routine streams, join our Discord Server.

Safe Travels,
Grizzlebubs
