Alternatively, new year, same me. I had a good, productive, and busy week off. I wrote for myself a fair bit, caught up with friends, and generally tried my best to take a big breath out. Last year was a great year for me, and I have no resolution for this year other than to keep it up: I wrote a ton, took pretty good care of myself, and even went to Japan! It was a busy year, though, and I'm looking forward to things being a little less hectic this year. I'll be writing just as much, but hopefully I'll have a little more mental headroom.

The Woman Made of Monsters goes public today, and I'm excited, and a little afraid, to see if there'll be any sort of public response to it. WMoM is something I'm very proud of, but it's also a vanity project—something I wrote almost as much to prove I could as anything else. It's a lot less porny than my other work (at least in this first book), and there's a certain irony in that a porn writer writing something with little porn is self-indulgent, when the opposite holds true for traditional writers. Make no mistake: I love porn writing. I also love traditional writing. WMoM was an attempt at both, and thus runs the risk of being too fetishistic for traditional readers and too slow burn for porn readers (and don't say it isn't. I'm a porn reader. I know.).

Regardless of public reception, I wrote WMoM for myself, and I loved writing it, and I'm proud of it.

Tomorrow, as voted, I start work on Dragon Tamer Neeko 2. This one should be good fun—look forward to it.

As title. EDI's Ass Effect now enters the review and revision phase. At 19k words it'll probably take me two days to get through—though I'm entertaining the notion of getting it all done tomorrow if I can, because I'm off work. We'll see.

After that, I'll be on vacation until the new year, and then work starts back up with Dragon Tamer Neeko Chapter 2.

Oh, right, I should add: EDI's Ass Effect is good, and if The Woman Made of Monsters had too little porn in it, you'll like this one.

It's almost the end of the year. I'll save the congratulations for next week, but good job so far, all of you.

EDI's Ass Effect is at 12.6/15k words, and I may end up going slightly over target, but hopefully I can still get it done by next Sunday.

After EAE comes Dragon Tamer Neeko, as decided by the subscriber poll. I will likely take a few days off after finishing EAE, since it is the end of the year and either I'll be expected to go places and do things or I'll get some time just to relax. Work on DTN will likely start around the 3rd, then.

As per the trello board, we are on to the next project, working title EDI's Ass Effect. The name should be plenty suggestive. This commission is set to be a two-parter, with the first chapter estimated between 10k to 15k words. As of this blog post I am 2.5k words deep, so expect this piece done in two weeks, or slightly more.

Not a lot to report this week or last week—I've been writing The Woman Made of Monsters at pace, and either tomorrow or Tuesday I'll finish up the first "book" and move onto the edit, which will take a couple days at ~26k words, so the final draft of book 1 should be ready by the end of the week.

WMoM ended up being a very self-indulgent work—which for a porn author means there's a great deal of not-porn in it. It was gratifying (and surprisingly easy) to write something 75% of which I could show to my non-perverted peers if I so wanted, and an engaging change of pace. I think it's important to do stuff, creatively, that you don't often.

Part of why I allowed myself to be so indulgent with WMoM is that I knew the next piece, the Mass Effect Jack x EDI comm, is going to be really intense. The first chapter of that (tentative two-parter) should be an intensely pornographic 10k words, and I plan to start on it a few days after WMoM 1 ships.
