MetaDEV Update

Hey all,
Just wanted to give a quick update on how things are going.
There is a certain online event that'll happen in a few months. We were interested in showcasing Accursed at it. Only thing was: We needed some video content. That kind of thing is definitely outside of my area of expertise so I asked around and a friend said he was willing to do it.
Great!
Then not so great. 
Don't really want to get into the nitty gritty but basically I was informed that he'd be unable to do complete it without enough time to find someone else.
Then back to great! 
We were able to both get a slight extension to submit and find someone willing to do it with the extra time.
So I've be working with them to get set up with some content and assets so we can have something decent in the short time frame.

So there will be a few days of delay to this snapshot to compensate. I don't expect this to affect the RC release though as I'll be taking some vacation days to work on the game exclusively next week to get that out the door on the 12th.

And ye. Check out those new tier icons by noras!
As requested, I'll add them as stickers/emoji to the discord server.

MetaDEV Update 3/13/2024

Hey All!
Just wanted to give you a quick spoiler-free update.
Our new character just recently got finished and nut is moving on to our next CG set. You can view the character along with the WIPs in the discord provided you have your discord linked to patreon account and are an active member. Or if you don't mind waiting we'll also be making an [Art Update] Post in a few days.
I've been pretty heads down working on the snapshot. I hit a snag with coding the blacksmith minigame. So I'm just going to move the gameplay aspect of that into a future update. You'll still see the new art implemented though! If I can, I might even get some outside help with it. Other than that you can look forward to many dialogue improvements, the introductions of two new NPCs, a refactored intro and more! Oh and It'll drop this weekend.
In a few hours our most recent Scuba Diver Poll will close. Work has already begin on the Duke and Hermit sprites and two winners will join the queue right behind them.
Thanks everyone for the support and feedback! It is truly invaluable as we continue to push forward and make Accursed: Emma's Path the best game it can be!

MetaDEV Update

Hey Everyone!
Wanted to give you all a small update on whats going on.
Seras is also coming along great and you can check out some WIP posts in the discord currently.
Just recently got a sketch for our lunar new year pinup. Last year we had Emma in a bunny suit so I wasn't sure at first what would work best this year to keep with that theme. This time we decided to veer towards cute over sexy but I think you'll all like the result of what we settled on!
Also thinking I'll try to post a long overdue DEVlog and roadmap for the year. Trying to ascertain what else exactly I want to discuss in it, but maybe just a past, present and future approach might do well. Lots of content is planned this year as we'll finish Act 1 and begin Act 2. So I figured I should break it down so everyone knows what the game plan is and what to expect for the rest of the year.
Of course, we also have the first snapshot of 0.1.21 coming out soon too. So stay tuned for that!

Updated Release Schedule

Hey Everyone!
If you recall, with the 0.0.19 patch cycle we ended up doing two snapshot releases and a six week development cycle. After some deliberation we've decided to do that again with 0.1.20's patch cycle. So this weekend's patch will be 0.1.20s-2 now. Going forward we will also continue this precedent will all future patch cycles.
To be clear the number of overall patches isn't decreasing. There will still be one roughly every two weeks.
Six Week Patch Development Cycle
To make it quick: we think this will be a much healthier cycle for the game.
Two snapshots means we have more time to test out features and content before pushing them to what eventually becomes a public release.
Ultimately, a huge benefit to this change is that it will lead to a faster overall development pace and a reduction in stress levels.
What to Expect in 0.1.20s-2
The main thing we are trying to push out for the now s-2 patch are MSQ/player-mandatory content for three in-game days, Sunday-Tuesday of Week 2. So that'll be two jobs and a the second meeting with the hermit.
Work is also finishing up on the next set of sprite outfits for Emma.
Supporters also saw we are finishing up the next H-CG as well so it's respective h-scene will be included in the s-2 patch. This means 2/3 planed h-scenes for 0.1.20 RC would be complete with work no beginning on the third.

Upcoming Releases & Itch Purchase Option

With the next iteration of combat ready for release tomorrow we wanted to take a step back and take a look our upcoming releases. We talked it over a hearty breakfast and decided that the following is how the next few releases will roll out:

Now you might have some questions! I don't blame you. This will of course be our first s-2 release which denotes "snapshots" or insider preview builds. The reason we decided to take this course rather than a "RC" release which would later go public in two weeks is simple. I've personally spent a lot of time testing out different combat systems of varying complexity since the last combat "draft". Most of it was unfortunately scrapped before arriving at our current system, but I did learn a lot. So we wanted to get some additional testing and feedback from our snorkeler tier supporters prior to making it available to all.
Additionally, the next H-CG set will be done this week which mean we can also include that in 0.0.19 RC by going this route. That brings us to two H-CGs alongside a bunch of mini-cgs. Both H-CGs contain s*x stuff too!
Basically, this will all make the 0.0.19 RC release stand out a bit more.

Itch Purchase Option

And that will be important as we are gearing up to allow "purchasing" the game on Itch. Currently the game is pay-what-you-want which for most people just means FREE since there is zero benefit at the moment to giving us money on itch. With 0.0.19 RC we plan to change that.

The Benefit?

Purchasing the game on itch at the minimum level will give you access to all RC releases day and date of their release rather than having to wait with the rest of the public. This is par for course with how a few other devs approach the platform.

What about Monthly Supporters?

This isn't meant as a replacement for monthly supporting at any tier. Those have and will remain the best way to help fund development and get various rewards and benefits in return. Purchasing the game on itch will be an alternate way for people who don't want to subscribe but would still like to support development in a tangible way.
Monthly supporters will also get a full copy of the game for 1.0's eventual release provided they meet a specific lifetime $ support amount. This will be around the game's MSRP which is still undecided but you can expect it to be the same realm as other similar games.

Wait, back up. 0.1.20s-1?

Yup! the release after 0.0.19 RC we will finally call 0.1! Emma will be very happy. 
We'll have more on that later!
