Public Release 0.1635.1: Second Copycat Storyline Ending
Hi, everyone!
This month's update includes the second ending for the Copycat storyline, as well as CGs for both this and the first ending that debuted last month.
To reach the new ending you'll need to make a new choice that I've inserted into the weekend scenes, and then stay with Akiko in the later scene. If you're stuck, please refer to the guide attached to this post where all the new content is highlighted in green.
This update also includes a couple other additions and changes. First, a rework of a big scene in the Redemption storyline, along the path where Kyou reverts back to villainy and has Akiko in his room just before the epilogue. There's two versions of it, depending on whether Kyou went with "Robot" or Devoted" in his initial choice of villainy, with the Robot version getting the biggest change from before as it was rather undercooked in its initial version.
The second is a slight addition to Hiroko's Gullible storyline, where Kyou uses his arrangement with Hiroko to prank her only for him to later relent, giving Hiroko an opportunity to push back on his manipulations and maybe talk some sense into him. To see it, start Hiroko's route and pick the following options: Convince her she's ticklish, Don't help her, Find out how gullible she is, Stop for now, Put an end to my pranks.
So that's all for this month. For the August update I'll be trying to finish this Gullible path I started, and make a couple more CG additions for Copycat's second path. See you then~

Public Release 0.1633.1: Copycat Storyline Ending!
Hi, everyone!
This release sees the Copycat storyline come to a conclusion along one of its two decision paths, with a couple of CGs included which illustrate one of the most satisfying scenes I've ever written. All in all, this storyline has been rather fun to write, and it's been nice to give Akiko another starring role to complement the one she had in Redemption ^^
For next time I'm probably going to continue my focus on Copycat, with another CG or two, extending the script slightly and working on the second path so I can call this whole part of Penlight done. Please enjoy the new release, and I'll see you next time :)

This month's release adds two lovely new CGs for the scenes introduced in April. Those weekend scenes were a lot of fun to write and the illustrations really do a lot to bring them to life. I'm really happy with how they turned out; the second one in particular~
On the writing front, Copycat is inching ever closer to its dramatic conclusion, with the new script taking us right up to a critical decision for Kyou. No further than that, I'm afraid, but I have a good idea for how at least one of those paths will end and I'm hopeful of getting its conclusion written in time for the June release.

Public Release 0.1630.1: Copycat Storyline Continuation (Yes That's It's Name Now)
Hi, everyone!
Before I get started on the details, I need to make the following announcement:
This update will possibly corrupt your existing saved games and reading progress, caused by my updating the Ren'Py engine I use for making Penlight to the latest version. If this happens to you, you can mitigate the inconvenience this causes by selecting Preferences from the main menu and turning on "Unseen Text" and "Transitions" under the Skip submenu. That'll save you from having to click through every line of text again until you get to the parts you want to read.
So yeah, sorry if that causes trouble for anyone. Anyway, on to the update...
This one adds a bunch of new scenes for the ongoing villainous storyline, which I'm calling "Copycat" going forward. This brings the story up to pretty much the end of the sixth day, and includes new sprite art, music and a CG made especially for the new content. I'm excited to see what you all make of it~
I hope to continue this momentum into next month as we barrel on towards the conclusion of the Copycat story, with at least two more new CGs along the way. Please look forward to it ^^
Public Release 0.1628.1: New Villain Storyline Continuation (Continued)
Hello, everyone!
This update completes the scenes for the fourth day of our ongoing villain storyline, along with most of the fifth. I might make a few changes to it over the coming weeks, but overall it seems fairly solid and I should be in a good position to move on to the more dramatic parts of the story and the CGs it promises. It should be a good time ^^
And speaking of CG's we move on to my main regret this time: There's barely any new art to show. There's a couple of minor additions I had made for the previous one, and you'll see that in the new section, but other than that? Those dramatic parts can't come soon enough!
Oh yeah, and I added one more piece of background music that I thought would make a decent enough fit for Penlight, if only for variety's sake. It should help a little to break up the monotony of hearing the same couple songs playing on repeat.
Anyway, that's all for now. I hope you find the new scenes interesting and I'm really looking forward to showing you what's coming next~
Public Release 0.1627.1: New Villain Storyline Continuation
Hello again, everyone!
This past month saw a lot of frustrated plotting over how this new villain storyline's supposed to go from beginning to end. I sort of know how it's going to end, but I got mega-blocked when it came to working out the finer details. As the days rolled on, I sat down to just start scripting as best I could, and what you'll see here with this latest release is some script for the next couple scenes leading up to... well it's nowhere near as much as I hoped, but at least there's a small reveal at the end that sets up the middle portion of the storyline nicely~
So I'll be developing that middle portion for the next update. And in the meantime, I hope you enjoy what's here :)
WRITING: Wrote the next couple of scenes for the new path on the Villainous storyline, stemming from the choices "use the penlight on Nozomi" then "stick around", up to the first choice
ART: Previously sketched CG that takes place during the new Villainous story path has been updated with completed art and included in the CG gallery
Word count is now around 443,500
FIX: Corrected a small bug in the CG Gallery that wasn't displaying some of Hiroko's CG set despite being unlocked in-game
