Oppa, Do You Trust Me, Dance Motion Release
Ok the long wait if finally over.
Here is the result of almost half a year of work, between blitzing 2 rigging courses and a book, building an enhanced MMD control rig for Blender, and making the longest animation I’ve ever made, while polishing my rig and learning how to use it as I worked with it, while also learning some more Blender stuff, gotta say that the only thing that was very awkward to do was animation the shape keys (morphs) in blender since I had to do that with the Japanese names, other than that, everything was as straight forward as I expected, even the struggle with Gimbal lock, I still have some more ideas to add to the rig and make more powerful but that will have to wait until MMDTools has a working and stable version for Blender 4.2, that is for later.
For now I will send a special download link with the result of my work, my smoothest, longest dance animation to date, 24,000 frames (6000x4), now there are 2 version in the archive called “Oppa Do You Trust Me - By Ademar440.rar”, one is a version that uses FK animation for the legs, this one does include animation for the IK control bones for the legs but they are disabled by default, this is the version I recommend for use with Izumi or any model that was modded and used Izumi’s body as a base.
The other version has the IK control bones animation enabled but the key frames for the knees have been deleted, this is due to a shaking motion the legs experience in some parts of the dance, this is, I assume, due to the differences in IK solvers between Blender and MMD, the difference it makes is negligible, this version is recommended for any other model you want to use the animation with.
I optimized this dance as much as I could to be used with any model but there will be of course some differences when used with models that are not Izumi or Izumi based, in this occasion it doesn’t matter if the model has the center bone modified as Izumi has, for this I made it so the center bone is only used for movement and rotation in the y axis, so it should not matter where the center bone is located, this will not always be the case though, so I still recommend modding your models to make the lower body, upper body, groove and center bones all be in the exact same location and center the entire model so that position is in x 0 and z 0.
**** Update, the center bone only has movement now, all rotation is handled by the upper and lower body bones
I spent a couple days reviewing the animation and make sure there were no errors but if you catch any like limb clipping or floating feet then let me now, the animation has no camera for now but I will work in one next, for now, only $10 tier patrons have access to it but like I said before, SFW dance animations will eventually be made public, so, current patrons below the $10 tier should get the dance motion 2 weeks after today, near the end of the month, this will not apply to new patrons, and the public release should not be earlier than 2 months from now at the very least.
I’ve also updated the Blender file for Izumi as well as her 4 enhanced .pmx models that used to make this animation, meaning 4 of Izumi’s .pmx models with my rig attached, there is also the Blender version of this animation for the $30 tier patrons in a .blend file.
I’ll leave you to it and check the motion out, for now I will start working and the camera and will make a post soon to let you know what’s next.
Enjoy the dance animation.
