Title: The Awakening
The cold, damp air clung to their skin as the darkness began to lift, the first streaks of dawn creeping through the thick stone walls. Addy’s eyelids fluttered open, her vision blurry, her senses disoriented. She tried to move, but a sharp tug at her wrists stopped her. Her body was bound, not loosely, but with a precision that made her pulse quicken. A low groan escaped her lips, only a sound, nothing more.
Beside her, Emily stirred, the same confusion and frustration evident on her face as she struggled in vain to lift her head. Her eyes met Addy’s, the only connection between them as they tried to process their situation. They were tied together, their arms bound tightly, leaving them no room to even shift.
A muffled noise broke the silence... the distinct sound of a gasp, sharp and disbelieving. The mistress. Her dark figure shifted in the shadows, her breathing rapid as she began to thrash against the ropes that held her to the cold stone wall.
"Who… who is brave enough to tie me up?" Mistress’s voice echoed through the chamber, hoarse with anger. "Who dares to do this?"
The air was thick with tension, a mix of confusion, fear, and something darker. Addy tried to speak, but all that escaped was a low mumble, her throat dry from the deep slumber that had overtaken her. Emily's voice was equally stifled, the words twisted in the thick fog of the air around them.
Mistress's eyes glowed with fury as she yanked at the ropes again, her body straining against the confines that held her captive. She was powerful, her anger palpable, yet in that moment, she was as vulnerable as the others.
The room fell quiet again, except for the soft, breathless murmurs from Addy and Emily. Slowly, Mistress’s gaze shifted between the two of them. Her expression darkened, though there was something else there, a flicker of realization.
"You… You’re not in control of this," she muttered, almost to herself. Her hands went still. The question hung in the air like smoke.
The three of them, Addy, Emily, and Mistress, remained locked in their shared captivity, bound together not just by the ropes, but by the mystery of how they had arrived here. Who was behind this? And why? The answer, they knew, was just beyond reach.
But for now, all they could do was wait. Mistress looks up as they hear footsteps entering the room.
