a funny couple
In my bored times I have a story I like to write - I meant to write a romance, but it accidentally turned into a political-crime mystery! oops!
These are both sketches, but they're available to the public and so they will be on substar as well.
First designs on the left, new designs on the right. personally I think redoing some details on the right worked out. I'm embarrassed to show this, but more worldbuilding below!
In Esterin, the old monarchy collapsed in favor of the new, "more free" government. However, these ideals never fully came to fruition, and over time were perverted in a world where most people have their way of life taken from around them. Few remnants of the monarchy still exist, struggling to find a place in this new society. Those that do see their grant money depleting, taxes rising to unmanageable costs. Belladonna Rocheford, "The Red Lady" is in a long family line of viscounts that once contended for the old throne.
Alongside an ever-weakening government, the city guard often employ the use of bounty hunters to compensate for the lack of manpower - from the most petty shop thief to serial murderers. Aía is one of those bounty hunters, using more wit and guile than physical power to catch thieves. However, after investigating the theft of the Rocheford Exhibit, Aía accidentally finds herself amidst a murder investigation she never wanted.
