Ok, so I’ve been thinking about how to talk about this all night. Which is super convenient, I didn’t have anything else going on, like finishing Bone Us 9.

Thank you Discord. So much.

There’s a bigger, angrier discussion to be had here, I might make a second post later, but for now let me keep it relevant and educational:

As many of you already learned, yesterday, Discord announced that Age Enshittification Verification will be hitting their apps and platform on a global scale next month. All your adult friends from the UK or the Bible Belt who Discord prohibited from servers and channels lest they give up their private information? It’s happening to you now. Regardless of your state or country’s A/V laws.

This is not something a VPN can fix because it is, supposedly, rolling out everywhere.

Here’s what we know:

Discord will assume you’re a teenager by default and restrict your access to 18+ servers and content unless you verify your age.
This includes streaming channels, regardless of the server.
There are two ways to confirm your age now, first is a video selfie, second is to scan your Government-Issued ID.

How this will effect the Yuki: Space Assassin server specifically:

The server will remain accessible regardless of age verification as our server is NOT fully age restricted. Only select NSFW channels.
Because of this, I can create “platform safe” (ugh) composites of many discussion pages so long as the content cannot corrupt the youth.
Many users will not want to participate in highly invasive measures for matters of privacy. I will do everything I can to support that choice while maintaining our community as a safe space for them.

The last thing I want to do is cause a panic. As early as yesterday, we’ve seen Discord walk back on a few of their statements (keep cancelling Nitro folks). Worst case scenario is we will be offloading some NSFW aspects of our great, kink-friendly community to other adjacent spaces.

Such as our subreddit: r/YukiSpaceAssassin. Over the next few days. I’ll be doing some redesigning and redecorating to make it more conducive to sharing and community rather than just acting as a repository for art and comics.

Is it immune to AV laws? No. Will we likely have this discussion again in 6-12 months? Maybe. But for now, you don’t need an account to view it, VPNs still work as they aren’t early capitulating worms (that we see yet), and it’s our second biggest space.

I won't pretend that I can control where this community will remain or find itself to be, but wherever it is, you bet I will be there. And to stay up to date on where we have a social media presence? Keep our linktr.ee bookmarked always.

<sigh> There’s a risk to explaining all this in the way that I’ve done. Pairing down my emotions, tangents, getting it down to the essentials. Nice and easy-to-follow rules, instructions, and contingencies. ‘Walk to the nearest exit, line up in the parking lot, put your head between your knees,’ etc. That kind of framing exists to make things sound normal.

Make no mistake dear listeners: this is not fucking normal, it’s not fucking right, and they are lying to your face when they say they have to do this, or that they’re doing this “for the k*ds.” The narrative that they're doing this to "give t*ens" a seat at the table (something no t*en ever wants), this is a narrative for their shareholders and no one else.

In the meantime, here's what you can do:

If you haven't already: cancel Discord Nitro. Vote with your dollars.
Give us a follow on other platforms.
Make a support ticket on Discord's official platforms, and politely explain why you think this is a mistake.
If you have any fond memories from our wicked and wonderful community save them. Save your roleplays onto text documents. Hit up the friends you've made for their socials.

Because the truth is, they did not have to do this. This is nothing but early capitulation, which they still have a chance to walk back on.

There are a lot of problems in this world right now. None of them are erotica, or the people who enjoy it.
