Animations are here
Thanks to the way AI has been advancing, I have been fiddling with the idea of turning my paintings into animations. I did used to animate before. I used to do it in after effects, but it was a nightmare. After hours of work, I could create one subtle motion and then loop it over to create an animation. Honestly, I felt that output was underwhelming for the amount of time and effort that went into it and so, I had pretty much given up on it.
But now after the recent release of wan2.1, I've been dabbling with locally installing and running it on my computer. As if the set up itself wasn't painful enough, to generate high quality videos it was taking 2 hours to generate a 5 sec animation. This is something I've been parallelly struggling with in the past month along with making the usual artworks and commissions. But still, I kept scouring the internet, especially reddit, to find solutions to optimize my workflow to reduce generation time. Sadly, the maximum I could do is bring it down to 45mins to 1 hour to generate a single 5 second video. I can reduce further but it was heavily affecting the quality. And so, now my PC runs all night and day. Generating videos for me from my images.
It's still not easy as it sounds though. Atleast 3 out of 5 videos is of some horrible nighmare inducing animations. That means technically, it still takes me at least one and a half hour to generate a video that had proper, human like motion.
But hey, we've come this far. I'm sure things will improve, the models and the workflows will improve, and may be it will be much easier to make these animations.
So, finally, after going through literally, hundreds of 5 sec clips, I've been able to stitch the best ones together to create this ~9min long Animation.
