One-shots #1: The King & Her master × Saber/Artoria - Release Notes V2

V2 was released on 13th September. The release post is a bit delayed. I’ve also pushed many little improvements since then like auto save & speech recognition.
Second release of my Fate/Stay inspired 3d first-person+VR femdom game, where an "evil" Artoria Pendragon (Lancer) takes you with her to her world. Featuring Artoria Lancer model by Ryan Reos. Works on all devices from iPhones to Quest. Fully 3d.
In V1, one of the major features was a locomotion system specifically designed for a femdom game to blur the lines between cutscenes, mini-games, dialogue & free roam elements.
    ● A much better physics engine to actually allow larger worlds with full collisions & dynamic objects especially in VR.
    ● A "world" system to support multiple locations.

But V1 was really just a demo of these features. This update actually makes use of these elements to provide more engaging gameplay.

What's new

    ● Free-roam boot/foot worship system. This update most importantly features the updated boot worship mini game in which you have full freedom to move around in fully physical world.
        ○ The controls have been tweaked, to allow for easier movement and aiming. Tested heavily in VR & desktop. You get slower as you get near Artoria, and movement is smoother, easier to control. Smartphone virtual joystick is a bit too sensitive but playable.
        ○ Full support for VR hand tracking and VR controllers as always. Optimized for 1 handed gameplay (lol. for real though.). Even a comfort mode to play lying down at any angle while being able to move around the environment with just 1 hand.
        ○ The physics - both the tongue cleaning system & collisions have been improved in so many different ways, they're damn near perfect.
        ○ Particle effects! Dust specks and tiny clouds lift off as your tongue touches them.
        ○ Way smoother "depenetration" for VR. As this game requires you to get into tiny nook and crannies, you inevitably end up getting too close to stuff. Previously you either clipped through before being stopped by the collision system in a janky manner and the "eye lid" system to hide that was slow and inaccurate. This has all been heavily tested in VR to ensure comfort and ironing out bugs.
    ● "Dog walk"/follow mini game: Artoria makes you follow her into her castle. And keeps track of how close you are to her, commenting on it, etc.
        ○ This is just the beginning of this. These sorts of section will be an ongoing thing. Credits to Planetwendal for the original idea.
        ○ A leash system in addition to this will happen at some point.
    ● New location: Throne Room. Turned out way more beautiful than I expected.
        ○ This location's lighting is my favorite so far. I put in a lot of effort in each location to have beautiful light colors, multiple light sources & shadow sources. Because in dynamic reflections and static env maps, the actual environment is used. And reflects into the characters/girls. Artoria looks amazing here.
    ● Save system! No need to replay the full game for future updates.
        ○ Auto save. Before every choice to make it easier to try different paths or accidental tab closes. 10 last choices are automatically kept.
            ■ Also helpful for crash prone devices like iPhones to not lose progress.
        ○ Save as file to your device. You get a file you can move between devices. Start on your phone, continue in VR or desktop!
        ○ Single slot quick save.

Minor

    ● Many many small camera auto focus/attention locking improvements.
        ○ There is still 1-2 tiny bugs here if you move the mouse too much like try to break the system actively.
        ○ But the game's context based auto focus/attention is good enough that most of the time you won't need to move the mouse until the boot worship game. But obviously you can to look around and move.
    ● Better dynamic reflections, less jumpy and more accurate for fast moving characters.
    ● More efficient shadows. Even in V1, the shadows were heavily optimized. Possibly the highest quality shadows on the web. Managed to make perf improvements to them to performance at the cost of small lower quality on unimportant elements (setting to toggle it off). This should boost FPS in VR a little!
    ● Better collisions on all devices. Able to get closer on desktop.
    ● Fixed z-fighting in large environments. Smart camera near value changes based on game play state to ensure we give you more detail when you need it close up i.e. worship mini game. But not sacrifice distance fidelity when not needed.
    ● Much better eye lid system for VR devices to hide clipping. And very smooth collision depenetration too as mentioned above. No jitter/stutter.
    ● Fixed sun shadows mouse zoom stutter.
    ● There is so much more that I've actually forgotten.

Missed Goals

    ● No spitting segment as I had promised. Apologies. It will be one of the first things I work on next release.
