Weekly Update 33/2026
Hi, guys!
Last week, I skipped the usual weekly update and posted only a few preview images instead.
I felt like I had nothing to say. Truthfully, I was getting dangerously close to burnout.
Thousands of images. Hundreds of animations. Chapter 3 is going to be significantly bigger than Chapter 2, and I was starting to feel its weight.
I still have about three more weeks of visual work ahead, and then it's time to start coding.
But!
I'm feeling much better now. And the reason for that is my better half. The person who somehow keeps me human.
My wife.
You see, I'd noticed something suspicious lately. Every now and then, she'd wander around the house with a measuring tape. Sometimes she'd even enter my office.
Normally, seeing my wife walk around with a measuring tape is enough to double my blood pressure and make my hands break out in a cold sweat.
Nothing good ever comes from a measuring tape. Nothing cheap, anyway.
But this time I was so busy working that I didn't even have time to panic.
The truth finally came out a few days ago.
Let me explain.
Long before I started developing games, I was already working from home. That's why I could start this whole Nemiegs adventure in my spare time.
About seven years ago, our eldest son left the family nest, and I immediately occupied his old room and turned it into my office.
Calling it an office is generous, though. It's more of a storage room.
Everything that needs to be stored for the season ends up there. Everything without a proper place in the house ends up there too. In the middle of the room stands my workout bench, surrounded by approximately 1892,7 dumbbells.
And somewhere in the corner... There's my workstation.
I spend an enormous amount of time in that room. I'd gotten used to it. I thought everything was perfectly fine.
Apparently, my family disagreed. And that's why my wife had been walking around with that measuring tape. My family had been planning a surprise office renovation.
Fresh paint. New furniture. A proper workspace. An actual creative studio. For me.
And suddenly, the burnout was gone. I feel almost excited! This weekend will involve filling holes, sanding, painting, and assembling furniture. But I'm genuinely looking forward to it.
Sometimes you don't realise how much you need a change until someone who cares about you decides to make it happen.
Oh! And one more thing.
I'M GETTING THAT ULTRAWIDE MONITOR!
HA!
Remember how I was NOT jealous of my wife's monitor a few weeks ago?
Anyway.
I think that's enough for this week's episode of The Secret Life of a Game Developer.
Thanks for your continued support, and have a wonderful weekend!
