The King She Chose

She worked constantly. From training Nemesis in Nen to ensuring Tobi’s plans come to fruition. Above all else, she worked tirelessly, letting nothing stand in her way to assist her King in his goals and ambitions. She was thankful for a new King, even if deep down she believed she was undeserving.

Her hands connected various sensors and wires together in a complex weave amidst many more in the chamber. Movement in the darkness told her the elder monks were watching with their spindly, arachnid-like legs moving across the chamber. They watched while the younger loyal monks, who hadn’t fallen out of favor for failing to uphold their cult's ways, checked over hers and the others' work.

Pitou didn’t bother watching them, knowing if they tried anything she would and could handle them. The only threat they posed was if they did something to sabotage Tobi. Her focus slipped for just a moment, a far-off look in her eyes.

For a brief moment she remembered it all, despite how much she wished she could forget all of it. To wash the sin of failure that clung to her away. How she failed her first king. How the boy fought her, adamant on getting revenge for what she had done.

The image of his fist, her head all but gone, but she had one thing left to give. A lingering will. She didn’t know what to expect after she had died. She knew in that moment when she awoke that she had failed her first king.

A tightness in her chest could be felt snapping her out of the stupor she had put herself in. She noted the tears that had streaked down her face. She went back to her work, not caring in the slightest what the monks would think of her emotional display. They were of use to Tobi because of what they could help her do.

Despite the complex work and the science being something never tried before to anyone’s knowledge, it was all a trivial thing for Pitou. Her mind wandered despite how she didn’t want it to. It was a curse as much as it was a blessing.

Remembering her time with Pouf and Youpi, the king himself as he grew in both body and mind. It brought what she had come to know as good memories, watching the king battle against Kamugi in that game and his transformation from a warrior king to the kind of king the humans had in their children’s storybooks.

Compassionate, understanding, and willing to help lift his people up alongside himself. No matter what path he took, Pitou would be beside him every step of the way. Such was her loyalty for her king.

But…

With the good shining so bright, the shadows grow and lengthen, bringing with them the bad memories. The attack on the palace. Her failure to stop Netero or Kamugi from being harmed. Her inability to help her while the boy had her in a bad position. It came to a boiling point when he threatened to kill Kamugi himself if she didn’t fight him for what she had done to his friend.

All that came with it, and she knew deep down she had failed. That realization hit her as if the king himself had given every bit of his strength into a blow. Then the entity responsible for her being here came.

It told her she had a second chance. She didn’t know how long she remained silent, the being simply content to wait. Then she finally spoke, its intent since it didn’t speak like a person, had sunk in. She begged it to erase her. To annihilate her very existence so that she may be washed of her sins.

Her failure. She let so many down in the one moment they needed her to succeed. She failed her king. The only way to make her suffering end whilst ensuring she was punished for such a failure was complete obliteration. She pleaded with the being, sobbing, all but begging it to erase her very soul from existence.

It was as much of an act of punishment as it was an act of mercy in her eyes. A mercy she did not deserve. Yes, she could not think of a better punishment. A part of her wanted to be free of the anguish and torment that gripped her chest. The memories of what they had and how it was all destroyed in so little time.

Partly from her own actions…

Her aura began to leak out in the chamber, making the spider-like droids pause briefly before continuing on, while the flesh and blood monks paused, all snapping their heads towards her. Like deer realizing a lion was amongst them. Pitou didn’t notice, so caught up in her emotions that she tried desperately to ignore it and focus on her work.

She could no longer when a piece of equipment she was working on shattered and deformed under her grip. Electricity sparked and hissed at her, working its way into her. For a brief moment she let it burn its way through her body.

The being refused her desire to be erased. She pleaded, bargained with it, and even tried to threaten it after her own attempts at self mutilation had failed. None of it worked. The being simply listened. Eventually it spoke, telling her of the second chance. The chance to, if she so wished, atone.

For a moment the darkness that gripped her mind relented. Then it returned when it was revealed she wouldn’t be returning to her old king. She refused. She would not accept anything else. Yes, she couldn’t face her king. So she waited. And waited. In that time she slowly started to listen in between the moments of silence when the entity left her alone.

It would give her time to think it over. When it had given her enough time, it would try again. Eventually she started to listen. She would be given a new King. Pitou at the time hated the idea. There was only one king. Her king.

But the response was that her king had died. Those words drove a spike through her heart. This King was supposed to be another version of him. Would she turn her back on her King, regardless of what form he was in, even if he was a different person?

Her eyes closed as she remembered all that transpired in that void before she stopped the electricity, forcing it out of her body with a quick application of Ten.

It was bad. But some good came from it, otherwise, she would have remained there for the rest of eternity.

Pitou was no fool. She knew Tobi wasn’t her original king. She knew the being said what it did to get her to leave and go serve Tobi. But she had plenty of time to think once the initial rush of emotions had passed in that great void.

Yet… she doesn’t regret calling him her King. She ultimately chose to come and serve him because it gave her purpose. Meaning. A reason to exist. As the being put it, a means to atone for her sins. She opened her eyes, a soft smile on her lips, ears twitching, and tail no longer flat on the cold floor like a dead snake.

Pitou cleaned up the mess and repaired what had been damaged. Her chest brushed against some of it as she was thankful to have the foresight to reduce their size before doing this. Not much, because she knew Tobi enjoyed them. She hadn’t failed to notice how he looked at her and would force himself to look away.

She had tested to see when her breasts were smaller if they would get his interest, and they didn't, so she made them bigger. He watched them with interest after that. Pitou knew some humans found large chests attractive, and Pitou the dutiful servant wanted to give him something nice to look at.

Tobi had proven he was worthy of her serving him. He didn’t take advantage of her even if she would let him, he was her King and she served his every need. But it was nice knowing he wouldn’t take advantage and considered her own feelings on things.

But what truly convinced her to leave that place and join Tobi was that the entity made one last honest and valid point. She couldn’t bring herself to face her former king. Nor her fellow royal guards. Not after she had failed when they needed her to succeed in that one moment more than ever before.

So if that meant serving another King, then she had come to accept it. Pitou’s turbulent emotions had settled down, becoming far more manageable when she thought of her new King and current circumstances. She was content. The desire to fight someone strong was still there, especially after she found the man who had been a part of the attempt on her King's well being.

Her smile grew an edge as she adjusted the power to both of the metal surgery tables that would be used as the medium for her majesty escaping his weak vessel. She didn’t view him as weak, but he did. She couldn’t blame him when his current body prevented him from using all of his power.

The man put up a fight, or about as much of one as a speck of dust could. Though, those thermal detonators he used had her interest piqued, but it was all for nothing in the end. A playful smile adorned her face, with her tail swishing as she thought about how she did exactly what she told him she would do.

Skin him alive. Over and over again while keeping him from the brink of death. Only after his mind had finally snapped and madness took hold of him did she let him die.

Pitou glanced around the room as one of the elder monks sent her brief images. “Good. It is almost time.” She soon left the room with the final preparations being made.

Pitou, through her senses, saw where everyone was and what they were doing. The former attendants and servants to Jabba were far happier. With her King in power, he saw fit to no longer have them mistreated. Pitou had grown a lot since her time with her former king.

She wouldn’t have cared about their treatment back then. Now, she agreed with Tobi. Tobi was morally opposed to the people being used as slaves, but his logical argument was one that she could agree with.

Why use slaves as cheap labor when droids existed? They didn’t get tired. Didn’t need training, just program in what you needed it to do, and off it went to do its job. No food or water, just a means to recharge them.

All of it was correct, and she agreed with his points. Pitou now had come to care for the women, acting as a guardian and confidante they can turn to if they have problems. The women noticed how none of the men around here, after the first few tried something with her when they thought they could get away with it, and ever since then, the others had stuck close to her for protection.

It felt… nice.

Taking her senses off of them and instead directing them at the one who would be the sacrifice upon her King's altar. Bib Fortuna was arguing with one of his former subordinates, trying to get them to align with him, completely unaware of her King's superiority and gifts, beating any feeble attempt to usurp his claimed power.

She viewed the weakling as unworthy as a vessel to Tobi, but he was adamant that if he were to take another’s body, it had to be someone he would feel no remorse taking. A life that would otherwise have been wasted bringing nothing but suffering. Pitou had never thought much on morals in the past. After how it ended for her and the sorrow that followed, she began to feel for others.

Developing empathy. After suffering as she did, she came to regret what she did to Kite. Now knowing the pain she subjected Gon to, a grimace formed on her face. One that was wiped away, turning into a frown before a sadistic smile at the parasite trying to undo her King's growing kingdom.

Despite her developing morals, Pitou was still a Chimera Ant. She did suggest for her King to use the same power he had on all of Jabba’s men on the former slave women to ensure his safety and that word didn’t spread if they ever found out who was really in control.

He refused. Pitou cared for them, she just viewed her King as more important and thought his ability wouldn’t hurt them. But she didn’t question his reasoning, content to go along with what he wanted so long as it didn’t put him in danger.

The instant it did, she would ignore all orders to protect him no matter what. It’s why she reacted the way she had when he was confronted by the three. Her hands tightened as she watched Bib get angrier the longer his argument went on with the others.

She couldn’t bring herself to tell Tobi all that had transpired in her past and all that she felt. He must be protected no matter what, for she couldn’t go on if she failed a second time. As much as she wanted to tell Tobi when he asked what bothered her so much, a part of her, despite her inherent need to serve her King, didn’t want to tell him. Her chest tightened, a creeping dread grew inside of her.

It was the first time she couldn’t bring herself to tell him what she felt and what made her do what she did. Instead of doing something she would have deserved under her former king as a punishment, Tobi accepted it, and despite not knowing why or the fact that she was defying him, let it go.

Her tail lazily twisted behind her as she looked forward to getting her hands on Bib. Some of the girls talked about stress relief. Pitou didn’t know much about it nor cared for their methods to manage it. But she thinks she just found a way to relieve her stress, and Bib would be having a fun time with her.

Tobi wouldn’t mind. After all, she can always repair any damage his new body might acquire. And after losing her other means of stress relief, she needed this.

That was, of course, after she enacted her master's next plan. She smiled and padded along, noting the new figures in the throne room of the palace.

…

Over the course of a week nothing had changed for anyone as far as they knew, despite the subtle shifting of power. Jabba had continued as usual. Though, there were little differences that would pop up. Like him not using nearly as much wealth to throw constant parties.

He would still party, but it was more within reason instead of being nearly every day. My hands rubbed together in anticipation when the day finally arrived. Gliding down the dark corridors, mentally mapping out the palace, or at least the sections I would frequently use. It had become a sort of habit by this point.

If the palace, in the unlikely event, came under attack, then I would rather have a means of escaping if it’s a losing battle. Best to be prepared so I don’t run into a dead end or move in a circle in this place.

My cloak hid the fact I was levitating off of the ground, as I had been the entire time I had stayed here. I came and went with no one saying a word to Bib. He was getting more paranoid as the days went on. Even lashing out at the others subtly while keeping his distance.

Everyone under my control was under orders to keep him from leaving the palace. Something he clued into when he tried to escape only to be manhandled by a pair of Gamorean guards and brought to Jabba. He soon had an attitude adjustment and has been on his best behavior.

Today, however, was a special day. My form drifted through the palace like a ghost. Entering into the room to see the new figures standing around relaxed. Their attention briefly wandered to me for a moment before it went back to Jabba.

“Welcome, bounty hunters, to the mighty and powerful Jabba’s palace. The great Jabba has a task suited for each of you that requires your unique skills.” A protocol droid said, addressing the assembled bounty hunters.

Most of them were somewhat famous, but the two that I had my eyes on were the young kid, about ten years old, and the blue alien cowboy. Most people would recognize Boba Fett and Cad Bane. By Boba’s side was a pale white woman with a nearly bald head with a long ponytail of crimson hair that stood close by him.

The rest were nobodies to me despite being somewhat known in the galaxy. My form glided along, moving around the various criminals inside the chamber. Bib noticed me come to a stop, standing by Jabba’s side with Pitou on the other side, tail flicking from side to side.

“So long as you match my price, consider it done.” Bane said with a toothpick in his mouth.

Boba eyed him along with the woman by his side. “What’s the job?” She seemed to speak for both her and Boba.

Before Jabba could say anything further, the palace shook and rumbled from a distant explosion. Everyone looked around with blasters held at the ready.

“What was that?” Someone asked aloud as Jabba growled, looking around. Bib stepped further back towards a corner, looking concerned.

Jabba’s subordinates at the gates of the palace contacted him through his comlink built into his dais. “Lord Jabba, we’re under attack from clones. It’s the Republic!” Blaster fire and explosions could be heard in the background.

Whatever he was about to say was silenced when the communicator shut off on the man’s end following the sound of a missile. Jabba clenched his pudgy hand in a fit of rage. Nen was something else. Couldn’t even tell it was his dead body even now with Haki after all this time.

Jabba bellowed out, pointing at each of the bounty hunters who had their blasters like everyone else, ready to fight and kill. “Bounty hunters, you have a new job. Kill the clones, and you shall be rewarded.”

Bane took the pick from his mouth between two fingers before flicking it onto the floor. “My usual rate, Jabba. I don’t work for free.”

He walked off as the other bounty hunters followed him. Pitou and I remained in the chamber until Jabba waved for us to join them. “Neferpitou, Tobi, go and aid them. Don’t let a single clone leave this palace alive.”

Despite the droid translating what was said, it couldn’t even hope to copy the sheer coldness in Jabba’s voice or the glare he sent towards the massive metal doors that led to his chamber. Bane gave the two of us a questioning look before looking back towards Jabba.

“If they die, it’s on them and you, Jabba.” He turned and swiftly left. I simply glided along, slow enough to not make people question how I moved so fast, with Pitou appearing by Bane's side, uncaring of him raising his blaster in surprise.

Pitou giggled, ears twitching. “There are eighty-three clones in the palace, they have passed through the main entrance and are currently near the midsections of the palace. The others are doing their best to slow them down but are getting pushed back.”

“How do you know that?” Boba asked, sounding skeptical.

“Because I can sense everything happening inside of the palace. It’s why Jabba hired me beyond being his head physician.” Pitou padded through the hall, uncaring of what Boba or the others had to say. “Try and keep up.”

She soon left the group behind, with me continuing to glide along, moving past them, having decided I wasn’t going to miss this. The bounty hunters looked between one another before double-timing it to keep up with us.

It didn’t take us long to get into the thick of the fighting. Jabba’s men put up a good fight, giving it their all, but they were no match for clones bred from birth to be soldiers. Blaster fire was exchanged between the ragtag criminals and the white armor of the clones, some had blackened marks on them, signs of blaster fire hitting its mark.

Alarms screamed through the palace as durasteel doors buckled inward under the explosives used to force them open. Smoke poured through the halls, and blasters followed immediately after. The blaster fire aimed at us was disciplined, synchronized, and nigh unmistakable. Save for what lay under their helmets, most people would immediately recognize them as clones just from how good of a fight they were giving despite being outnumbered and on unfamiliar territory.

They moved with the precision that only those who had trained in combat all their lives could do. White armor scorched, gunning down pirates, smugglers, and criminals of all kinds in their sights. There were far more of our side's bodies than there were of the clones. It spoke volumes about how well trained and just better than the average person in the galaxy the clone troopers were. Even hardened criminals were nothing compared to them.

To the palace defenders, it looked like a full assault, a clean military strike aimed straight at Jabba’s heart. No one had any idea why the Republic was willing to attack Jabba when he was letting them use some of his hyperspace lanes, but with them being shot at, no one would care to ask that question right now.

The few servants still around scattered, screaming in terror. Blaster bolts tore through the smoke as Gamorreans charged, axes roaring. Nikto mercenaries took cover behind pillars, firing wildly. Trandoshans laughed as they leapt into the fray, hungry for trophies.

The clones didn’t shout orders, nor did they retreat or hesitate. They fought like men who had already died. They advanced in waves, some falling, the others stepping over the dead without pause. A squad got closer before being torn apart by concentrated fire, armor warping and cracking, and bodies collapsing under the onslaught.

Bane and the rest of the bounty hunters quickly took care of the squad, taking cover and firing back at the clones who started retaliating against the new threat. The denizens of the palace rallied at the sight of the bounty hunters taking out the clones, fury replacing confusion and fear.

Pitou didn’t even hesitate moving through a group of clones, tearing them to pieces, dancing through the blaster fire. Bane and the others got to work after a moment when they witnessed what Pitou had done before shooting into the clones encroaching on our point. Pitou was moving far slower than what she could normally do, hiding just how strong she was.

With our arrival the clones were pushed back. Pitou moved across their flanks and lines, harassing them while taking out any clone unfortunate enough to cross paths with her.

The heavy weapons came online. Turrets chewed through the clone ranks, bodies dropping in heaps, the smoke thickening. The floor had become a mess of armor, blaster scorch marks, and twisted limbs.

Pitou held the last struggling clone trooper after she had bent and torn his rifle to pieces, hand clasped around his throat. Before he could even grab his knife, she turned him around and slammed his helmet into the duracrete wall, cracking the armor and shattering his black visor.

Her grip now gone, the body slid face first down from the wall before slumping over onto the floor, joining the rest of his fallen brothers. Bane looked around before nodding, satisfied. I stood back near a dark corner, keeping out of the way and avoiding any blaster fire aimed at me, with Haki picking up the intent.

It was still hit or miss, but I was getting better at it as the days went on. It would get even better once my new body had been acquired and my training with Pitou and Nemesis could commence.

Silence fell hard. Jabba’s forces stood victorious, panting, wounded, and furious at the unprovoked attack. Bane stepped towards one of the bodies after glancing at Pitou, looking at her in a new light. She may have looked like eye candy in her dancer's dress, but Kitty has claws.

The helmet slid off, showing a clone trooper staring up at the ceiling unmoving, eyes unblinking, dead just like all the others. A few of the others did the same, seeing the same face. “The Republic was stupid for attempting this.”

Bane's voice was questioning. He couldn’t wrap his head around why the clones attacked Jabba of all people when he was helping them.

He walked back with the other bounty hunters. He nearly shoved me out of the way had I not slid out of the way. Despite this and how creepy I had to appear, he pointed a finger at me. “Next time, do something instead of just hiding back like a coward.”

Pitou thankfully didn’t get upset or do anything. The others looked at Pitou with respect while I merely clasped my arms hidden in the folds of my robe behind my back, staying near Pitou.

Jabba was furious upon learning the Republic had sent an assault team to eliminate him. I nudged Pitou with my elbow as her ears twitched. “Good job, Pitou. You are the best girl I could have ever asked for.”

My whisper was only heard by her, and her smile grew warmer as a red tint formed on her cheeks. The plan to weaken the Republic had succeeded, the various clone trooper bodies Pitou had controlled after leaving the planet for a brief period to gather them from active combat zones had worked in fooling everyone.

I could feel the confusion and suspicion coming from Bane and the others. I hadn’t planned for them to be here. Apparently Jabba originally intended for them to come to his palace for a job before Pitou worked her magic on him. I didn’t see a need for them to do a job against one of Jabba’s rivals since Jabba wasn’t alive anymore to need to deal with them. If they get in the way of my plans, Pitou, or even Nemesis once he is ready, would handle them.

Manage to trick everyone into thinking the Republic tried to backstab Jabba. One gold ticket. Use now? Y/N?

Beyond screwing Palpatine over and adding another layer of chaos into this conflict, making things more difficult for the Republic while removing a valuable pawn off of Dooku and the Separatists' board, it gets even better when I am rewarded for it.

Christmas just came early! Especially when it happens to be a useful thing like that. I never watched Jujutsu Kaisen nor read the manga, but it sounds like the move one of the villains used. And to make things even better, I now had an extra Ability slot!

Going back to my original line of thought, I figured I might as well have the bounty hunters here to act as witnesses to the Republic's assassination attempt. Jabba, upon being delivered the news and paying them for their troubles, contacted the Republic.

Boy oh boy, was it a sight to behold.
