September's Newsletter
Hello, everyone!
This month's newsletter comes with a slight delay because I've been hard at work on a big comm and The Black King Piece - Chapter 3.
For the unaware, I am no longer doing the monthly pipeline announcements. Instead, if you want to know where I'm at in terms of Subscribestar stories and what's to come, check the Workflow Central post pinned at this page's main post. It's also available HERE.
Before delving into this month's newsletter, let me summarize August's smut work with a simple meme.
Guess what: Chapter 3 of The Black King Piece is going that way too.
OC-Only Yuri Prompt Poll For September
It's about time we had a Yuri-focused story around these parts (without involving futanari). There was enough interest in the interest poll I ran August that I am confident running this Prompt Poll.
I will make the official announcement after I've released The Black King Piece - Chapter 3, so hold off your prompts until then. However, here's what you should probably expect as the prompt restrictions for this Prompt Poll:
- OC-only (no fandom prompts);
- No futanaris;
- Strap-ons are allowed;
- One-shot ideas (I want to avoid new series until I finish some of the ongoing ones).
That's about it. Feel free to fight me in the comments below, but I think I'm pretty firm on these four. Either way, they can change until the official Prompt Poll announcement.
Suggest Fandoms For Future Prompt Polls
In August, we had our first specific-fandom Prompt Poll ever - the Azula one. I believe it went well. It's natural that there will be less prompts than usual when the format is more specific, but I was quite satisfied with it.
Also, geez, it was a genuine battle to the death between the last two prompts.
In any case, I definitely want to run more fandom Prompt Polls in the future, focused on specific characters or just an overall fandom. However, I wonder what fandoms are truly desired enough around here.
Fellow degenerate Cockyking suggested I should run a poll with a bunch of fandoms to see which ones people would like to see Prompt Polls with. I think that's a good idea. Therefore, suggest below what fandoms you'd like to see included in such a poll. I'll find a moment to run it still this month (maybe after the yuri poll).
I'm actually quite bad at remembering things on the spots, so my mind draws mostly blank right now on which ones I'd like to see. That said, a few do come to memory:
- Mass Effect;
- Korra (the character);
- Chainsaw Man (either Makima-focused or Asa-focused [a manga character]);
- Spy X Family - I will probably not run a Prompt Poll for this one. I have a silly story idea I want to write and just need to find the time. Maybe it'll show up in my Workflow Central soon;
- Persona 5 (Makoto or Haru-focused, probably).
Give me degenerate suggestions below!
Special note: I may or may not take all suggestions offered for the poll. If I know nothing about a fandom, I won't be able to write it. I am usually open to researching, but there are limits to my available time. I appreciate everyone's understanding.
When Are You Opening For Commissions? - Part 27
How many times have I written this sub-title in a Newsletter by now?
It's a trick question. *Points gun*
I've already cleared off my commissions queue. I am now working through the few subscribers who had stored words from the now-gone Hero/Commissioner/Noble tiers. Once those are done, I want to open up again. I think I might do that somewhere around the second half of October, though I want to do it as soon as possible.
When I do reopen, I'll be more limited in my availability to avoid building up such a huge queue again. Not having the Hero/Commissioner/Noble tiers will help a lot with that.
I don't know how much interest there will be, but I THINK it might be more than I can handle. In that case, I may have to reject some commissions. I have very rarely done that in the past, but it is inevitable as demand builds up and I am only one individual.
Thank you for your understanding.
Be on the lookout!
Random Usurpman Reflections - I
I've written a ton of smut stories since I began in early 2022. Over time, a few people have asked me random things about my writing logic.
As it turns out, a lot of it feels instinctive to me. Before writing smut, I used to write a lot of crime mystery. I think the same thing applied there: I follow a lot of gut instinct instead of some academic model or guide or ruleset.
That said, there are some things I've concluded from my time consuming and writing smut.
Behold a random Usurpman Reflection: Corruption is more interesting when it is non-linear.
I don't know if that's the correct way to describe it, but what I mean is this: Corruption is more interesting when it doesn't go steadily from handjob to blowjob to boobjob to sex, to etc., with the character becoming slightly more vulgar with each act.
Instead of progressing in a slow (or fast) linear fashion, the *line* of corruption is more appealing when it has peaks and valleys, like a stock chart.
Instead of a character beginning as a saint that slowly deepens into dirty acts, it is more fun if the character begins as a saint and holds off pure until she gets involved a BIG dirty act (peak) and then has to deal with the guilt, where she now delves into less dirty acts (valley) before steadily getting dirtier (still below the first peak), and then finds herself into another peak (higher than the first) where the next valley is as high as the first peak and she is not nearly as bothered as the first time, etc, etc.
This was just an off-the-cuff example and is not a general rule. I was only trying to demonstrate what I mean by non-linear. Non-linearity can go an infinite number of ways and be equally interesting, if not more, than the example I wrote above.
I THINK I try to apply this 'non-linearity' principle in all of my stories, though I am sure it comes off different in a variety of ways depending on context, story size, story idea, etc. At the same time, I'm sure there might be stories where I've written corruption entirely linearly. I can't recall everything on the spot.
That concludes this completely random reflection.
This has been quite the long Newsletter, so let us stop here! Maybe I'll have a new reflection for next month? I don't know.
There is great smut to come for September. I am hard at work on a big comm and The Black King Piece - Chapter 3, which might be my longest Subscribestar-exclusive chapter yet (God help me). Expect the Yuri Prompt Poll after its release.
As always, thank you all for your continued support!
Honestly a fandom I would like to see you tackle is the Fate series/FGO. Not only it has many beautiful women, but it has so much potential for great erotica it's crazy.
The problem with Fate is that I have almost zero knowledge of it. I really need to play the VNs or watch the anime eventually.
Im exited for the Yuri only poll.
As for Fandom ideas I would suggest monster musume no iru nichijou because we are severely lacking in smut about monster Waifus and GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE because the characters have just sooooo much…………… personality.
Also I’m very interested in learning how you got from writing crime mystery to hardcore smut after all these two genres have not that many similarities…. At least none that I know of.
I've never heard of Musume or Nikke. I'll keep them in mind.
Crime mystery and smut don't have much in common, but maybe the way I write does. I like to write with a sorta 'thrillery' vibe with limited information POV, so some of it probably adapts.
Also, it's not that I went from crime mystery to smut, but from one thing I liked to another thing I liked. That makes it a lot easier.
Also theres gacha games like genshin impact and zenless zone zero that has so much potential
I know those have tons of waifus, but I've never played them.
There are already some great fandom suggestions, Mass Effect, Legend of Korra, Metroid, Sword Art Online, One Piece, Fairy Tail are all something I'd love to see.
Legend of Zelda, Resident Evil or anything with Wonder Woman (and the Amazons :P) would also be great
Resident Evil is absolutely true. I need to write something with RE3 Remake Jill or RE4 Remake Ashley ASAP.
At the risk of being labelled a party pooper, I thought it'd be easier if the master of the house shared the fandoms he's familiar with, even the list extends to a hundred entries, since he did say he can't/won't write about unfamiliar ones.
There are thousands of fandoms, even after filtering out the obscure ones. I personally wouldn't want to suggest a fandom that will never have a chance to be considered.
With that said...Mass Effect (excluding Andromedurrrr I suppose) and Final Fantasy VII are immortal fandoms, evidently.
The idea is good but it's difficult for me to name every fandom I'm familiar with because I'm just not going to remember off the top of my head. It's probably more efficient to go through the fandoms people suggest here.
Mass Effect is my favorite game series ever and I replay it modded the hell out, like, every year. I definitely need to write something with Miranda.
Personally interested in fandoms like Star Wars, Mortal Kombat, Sailor Moon, and Queen's Blade. Maybe something like a poll where everyone gets to submit 3-5 choices, then run another based on the most popular choices. I imagine quite a few users would have overlapping tastes as well.
Star Wars has never been that appealing to me (though I loved Grievous in the original cartoon back in the day), but I could definitely write it fi there's enough interest.
I'm afraid I don't know much about the three franchises you mentioned.
Also, a poll where everyone can submit 3-5 choices would turn into a LONG, LONG list very quickly. It's easier fo gather everyone's chaotic suggestions and then choose the oens I'm familiar/comfortable writing, I think.
After all, I'm not guaranteeing I'll write all these fandoms. I'm just looking at possibilities right now.
I like the suggestions of Resident Evil or Mortal Kombat, excited to see what gets chosen out of everything
Yes, I need to do something with Jill or Ashley
