Devlog #1 - The Core Gameplay Loop


Firstly, a heartfelt thank you to anyone supporting this game in any way. For the first devlog let me outline what I planned for the minimum gameplay loop:
  • Mercenary Combat: To raid villages, you'll need mercenaries, which you will have to hire with copper, adding to your expenses. More military power enables you to attack stronger villages, perhaps even other fortresses or cities.
  • Slaves: Acquire slaves through raiding or purchasing. Slaves will possess unique traits and skills that influence their scenes and actions.
  • Slave Training: Engage in scenes with your slaves and make specific choices to enhance their skills, increasing their value when sold or when working in brothels.
  • Slave Trading:  Each city will have preferences when it comes to slaves, influencing their value. You can exploit this by buying undervalued slaves in one city and selling them for a profit in another.
  • World Events: As you traverse the map or enter locations, contextual events and opportunities will add life to the world. Some events will be triggered in your fortress to give personality and depth to your relationships with your slaves.
Building this gameplay loop is my current priority. While I have many other plans and ideas, they will be explored and discussed in future devlogs. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this gameplay loop, and any questions or suggestions are most welcome.
