A layer's point of view
A snake Lady turned up at my door a short while ago. Gifted with supernatural powers, she was nevertheless hunted down from the places she frequented because of the nature of her magic. Links with Death are frowned upon by those who can be mowed down by Her at any moment.

She has found refuge in my Domain. We chatted for a while before I got down to business : she was, of course, welcome here, but everyone here has a duty to help look after these places. Just as Nāga can boast access to my library, she must be its incorruptible and infallible guardian. So I asked this Lady, Käärme, to take her turn. Thanks to her incredible egg-laying ability, she now helps us to feed the Domain's menagerie with her eggs.

The only slight drawback is her regular moaning, which penetrates the walls and sometimes reaches me in the laboratory.

The Eagle Puppet
Let’s be honest, shall we ?

Emotions are chemical reactions inherent to living beings with a sufficiently developed brain and nervous system. When it reaches a certain point, the organism generally organizes itself into a sort of society, with others elevating this constant exchange of hormones and pheromones to the level of civilizations.

But when you are outside of this system, which could be summarized as a series of frustrations and rewards, you can observe these social connections, you can identify them. If you observe carefully, you can reproduce them, use them.

The emotions of mortals then become a lever that can be used like any other. A tool. Just like every object or creature in my gardens or laboratory is.

When this human (NSFW) wanted to fool me by only paying half of the requested spell, an amount that would have been used by my treasurer, I decided to make better use of it and make him my apprentice (NSFW). Another mage will be useful to me to maintain the mansion. The fertility spell on his person made it possible to establish a form of domination through humiliation, according to his mortal concepts. A few vague sentences, devoid of emotion and his mind did the rest : imagining the worst like the good human he was under his feathers. He was beginning to become a usable tool, his emotions being his weak point : a rewarding word here, a threat there and this human continued his duties.

However, the mortal mind is contradictory, oscillating between this need for reward and frustration, between the desire for submission and the exultation of domination. The tool I was creating got lost in its emotions.

All the more confused, all I have to do is pull the right strings.

Containment circles
Some gods command respect by their very nature. For mortals it is difficult to explain why they have such an effect, but they do. In reality, it could be explained by the entity's natural power, often linked to its soul and its link with reality : the more easily the entity can impact reality, the more it gives off an aura that makes it so tangible that it becomes almost too much for mortals to bear, who can go mad from it.

Other entities, on the other hand... seek to have this impact but are unable to do so. Just like this one, desperately seeking the status of undisputed divinity but in the end only grotesquely imitating the quirks of other creatures. He hides among mortals to establish her authority more easily. He may be charismatic and tyrannical, but he's a far cry from some of the deities I have had the displeasure to offend.

Nevertheless, this entity needs to be properly contained in his flesh vessel, sylos , which is why circles of restraints are regularly drawn on and around his envelope.

A Manor and a Crown
The pages of this grimoire are slowly but surely accumulating.

Most of them are incantations that I have performed, experiments engraved on paper and shared with readers who find relative satisfaction in them. Some of the pages, along with the immortalisations, allow you to keep a trace of a key moment in a person's life.

But there are very few pages like this one.

A page that is closer to a vision, a passive observation rather than a realised action. Such is the case with this fleeting glimpse of this young man, lost in an abandoned manor and finding this enchanted crown. This manor could have been mine, but I'm in no way responsible for this situation. Perhaps he sensed my presence, turning round after grabbing this magical tiara.

Nevertheless, Oscar, this young man will know a fabulous destiny, which I invite you to discover via this portal.

A new crowned head
The vision of this crown is familiar to me.

Further research revealed another vision of a similar scene, with this page (A Manor and a Crown - Commission, SFW).

However, the transformation of this young man seems to be more advanced than last time.

The events that followed the Rupture are a little hazy in my memory today. Those that preceded them are even more so. Nevertheless, I had to establish a place to understand this new existence that was now mine, to apprehend my environment like a mortal. Over time, I was able to build what I call the Manor, an estate composed of several wings and several specific areas, including the botanical and zoological gardens. Over time, I met other entities, mortal or immortal. Some were passing through, others have remained for a few centuries.
Here today is a file containing the portraits of some of these creatures that populate the Manor.

To begin with, the master of the place, whom I think you have known for a while now.

Then, Nāga. Formerly a male human explorer who got lost in my library while following the tunnels, she is now a nāga woman who protects my library. Nagas, unlike the “simple” snake-men, are specialists in secret knowledge, underground passages, and hidden treasures. This new race seemed ideal for this human.

Second to appear in the grimoire: Hageshiiomo. This ogre from an Asian-type country was the leader of a clan of oni. Previously, the oni were proud protectors of human beings, fighting the forces of evil for them. But one day came the Corruption, a disease of unknown origin spreading like wildfire in their ranks. Knowing him already at the time, he came to me for a solution. I could only suggest locking him up, while a cure was found. Sane but fragile, Hageshiiomo recently returned, he is currently employed as a handyman.

Jessica is a special case. She is a creation resulting from a sound inconvenience, combining human intelligence and a fungal incarnation. Her acoustic reduction abilities are highly valued, and she is found in several places in the Manor. Despite these divisions, the spirit is common to all visible mushroom heads, communicating through spores, pheromones, and roots. Which can bring other advantages and disadvantages.

Marguerite, the name given by Nāga, is a young woman in her twenties who was mocked by her classmates for her appearance. However, she dreamed of sculpted and strong bodies. She was hired, following an overdose of a product, as head of the zoological garden. Proud and serious in her work, she is more comfortable with her new body despite some reluctance at first.

Pay is a creature who joined the Manor on his own. Resembling a goblin, it is difficult to know if he is a simple goblin, an entity that takes on this appearance by choice or force, or if he is a deity. Still, he takes care of the Manor's treasury. And he takes care of it fiercely.

Doctor Astrid Davis, a typical human woman, recently arrived. She was requisitioned for her exceptional skills. It was not very difficult to convince her to stay, her weak point being her former companion. She takes care of the oni twin brothers.

Eteranea is an immortal human who has used her immortality to learn magic. She specializes in pyromancy. Her calm and appearance make it easier to have contact with certain humans, including Astrid, who sometimes prove nervous in the presence of non-human creatures.

The Librarian of Netsethk is in charge of the technological pole. Even if the experiments presented in this grimoire mainly use arcane components, technological developments are still key points that must be understood in order to... Obtain new experimentation materials. “Bib”, as some call her, takes care of all electronic devices. Who knows if it’s out of obsession or if it’s the light that keeps this moth-woman glued to the screens.

Wronnk was a young human man who wanted to become a kobold. So he bought a charm, a kobolstein, to achieve this. Not having specified the type of kobold, he changed into a Germanic kobold, a sort of domestic elf extremely gifted in domestic arts. Refusing to return home in this form, he currently works at the Manor in order to earn enough money to buy the draconic kobold charm as he originally wanted it.
