Facial Motion Capture for Naughty Sandbox 2

The characters for NS2 have been completely overhauled, with a major part of the upgrade being a custom facial motion-capture system.

This isn't implemented in the prototype builds in a big way just yet, but it's gonna be used for emotion reactions + lip sync for vocalizations and voiced dialogue reactions later.

The clip above shows a playback demo of some recorded mocap-data from a basic webcam, and applied to her face.

As the virtual character performs the motion captured facial animation, she can also layer in dynamic behavior like blinks, glances, and the ability to look at the camera / player, for a much more engaging experience.

It's been a while! Naughty Sandbox is coming back, and it's quite different from before.

I've noticed an uptick in supporters here which I assume is from the work-in-progress clips I've been dropping occasionally in Discord the past weeks – if you're confused about the barren landscape here in terms of posts (obviously there has been no release since last year) I'll explain what's up below.

The old Naughty Sandbox dev direction wasn't really where I wanted to take the project. The majority of supporters have been requesting intimate and physical interaction with the character, the use of equipment & toys, male characters, full penetration etc.


The equipment in Naughty Sandbox 2 is actually usable, and interacting with the character physically is at the core of the featureset


Naughty Sandbox was my first solo project, and it begun getting quite bloated in its programming. I implemented some stuff kinda badly which made it hard to build on the rocky foundation, particularly with regards to the physical interaction which was intended at first to be at the core of the project. It essentially became a posing and dress up game which was hard to turn into the full interaction game that I wanted from the start.

Over the past several months, I've been building up what will be the successor to the current / old Naughty Sandbox. These fully interactible characters aim to rectify all of the shortcomings of the previous project. Test builds of the prototype are currently quite bare-bones with no clothing and dress up feature, environments, or VR support, but are what I think is some of the most impressive real-time lewd tech that exists today.


The new base character (hair sculpt by @HappyOtter9 on Twitter) was rebuilt from scratch, has the ability to play back facial mocap data for super real facial expressions


The new characters and interaction stuff will be merged with the original Naughty Sandbox soon, and development will continue within the Naughty Sandbox environment.

All the new stuff will be combined with the original environments, the photo mode, VR mode and other original features. The original character system of Naughty Sandbox will also remain, but the focus will be on the new characters, which will eventually receive all the customizability and options that the current charactes have.

Supporters of the project have been testing these new features for months on Naughty Sandbox's Discord server, and I've been waiting until user-experience was good enough to post publicly on Patreon and SubscribeStar. So after this post, links to the experimental builds of Naughty Sandbox will be uploaded in a private post.

The core character interaction is what the majority of Naughty Sandbox supporters wanted from the beginning, and you will find the potential of this project to be infinitely higher than before. I'll outline some of the SFW features below, with a full outline in a NSFW post to follow.

  • Full physics interaction & posing
  • Basic looping physical thrusting motions - more sex motions will be added
  • Ragdoll characters with active balancing – the ability to stabilize themselves even while in ragdoll mode
  • Massageable soft-skin
  • Enhanced jiggling physics
  • Raytracing & Realtime Global Illumination (Requires RTX videocard)
  • Ability to add a penis to the characters (actual males to come)
  • Ejaculation with cum-on-skin effects
  • Internal physics with resistance & tightness controls (can control how difficult it is to push objects into the characters' various holes)
  • A perception system, where characters know where they're being touched, and more
  • Dynamic and reactionary vocalization, depending on what's happening to the character
  • Muffled vocalizations for oral penetration
  • Breast & Ass size sliders (more to come)
  • Mocap-based facial system
  • Triple A quality physics-based-toys designed by professional sculptors
  • X-ray system for viewing toys while penetrated
  • Four sculpted fantasy toys - "Dragon Born", "K9", "Peacock" and "Princess' Dream"
  • 20" (50cm) long double ended dildo
  • A workin fascial / massage gun with true soft-skin massage effects

I can only apologise for the lack of updates here. The development of this successor project has been primarily on Discord, where playtesters have been helping me out. New stable builds will be posted here going forwards, but for the quickest access to builds & info, get on the Naughty Sandbox Discord.

Animation Update - Info & Trailer

Hey peeps, apologies for silence over March. There were some delays with March's update, but it's here now in April instead (sorry!) and contains some very cool updates which I think add a ton of fun and hotness to Naughty Sandbox.

The new features in this build are a little less polished than usual, so please forgive some things if you find them to be sub-standard!


The new features are:

Animation Mode: Animations are able to be applied to the character, overriding their poses. There are a few animations to choose from for now with more to come, and animations can be sped up, reversed, paused, and set to Loopable or Play Once. When the girl is playing an animation, she can still be rotated and moved with the pose rig.

Possession Mode: This is very experimental and available in non-VR / Desktop mode only for now. This allows you to control the girl as 3rd or 1st person, similar to Skyrim / Fallout. She can currently walk around, jump, run etc in this mode, with the ability to ragdoll on command.

Pose Saving: This is exactly how it sounds, you can now save any created poses with custom save names, to reapply them later.


Possession mode is experimental and not supported in VR for now:

  • Use WASD to move around
  • Hold C to switch from 3rd to 1st person
  • X to toggle Ragdoll
  • Shift to toggle run / walk
  • 2 for Camera Aim
  • 1 for Direction Aim

There is also new input for modifying FOV during play for Desktop users: the mouse wheel will zoom in and out during any mode, as long as the mouse wheel isn't being used by anything else, such as for rotating held objects or scrolling User Inteface panels.

New Environment & Clothing Update News

Hey peeps,

Thought I'd make a quick posty showing off a new environment for Naughty Sandbox coming with the clothing update - a bleak Russian Apartment with horny neighbors.

As with most of the environments, there is an aim to create maximum immersion in visuals & sound design, and I think this one has come out really well for creating a feeling of moody presense.


Some little improvements to the core experience to Sandbox - in Desktop mode, the docked UIs now save their position, size, and minimized / maximized sate across level changes and game restarts.

Volume settings are now also saved, so players can fine tune their preference for master audio, vocalizations, environmental SFX & music without having to redo every time.


I also did some small changes to the Character Save Tab since the last post, to make it easier to work with characters and outfits. Next to each character's name, there may be an outlined icon for Clothing and / or an icon for Accessories. These icons mean that your save file for that girl includes some outfit elements.

Clicking these icons will make them solid, meaning that when the character is loaded, her clothing & accessories will be loaded with her. In the example pic, Lillith is currently loaded and her save file includes at least one accessory, but no clothing. Elle is about to be loaded and her save file includes some Clothing & Accessories, but we want to load her Clothing only, and keep whatever accessories Lillith is currently wearing.

November Update - Info & Instructions

Hey peeps,

Nov build has been tested for a while now in Discord and a lot of major bugs have been ironed. The experience should be the most user friendly yet!


The UI overhaul for Desktop players (docking and such) will be ported in some manner to VR players at some point. I'm currently VR-less as the HP Reverb G2 I have on order is hit with delay after delay, sorry to VR peeps who have experienced any issues with later builds, I feel like VR support is slowly deteriorating the longer I don't have a VR headset, but I'll be polishing VR UX asap! VR players should still benefit hugely from the Character Manager system, which I added some more small updates to since the last post.

A lot of user feedback included the request to have confirmation dialogs for destructive actions, so I've added a confirm system to Saving, Loading, Deleting from the Character Save slot. Hopefully no one has overwritten or deleted a character by accident, but now it should be harder to do!

Another suggestion was to allow spawning a saved girl directly from the Save Slot, so for supporters who have the ability to spawn multiple characters, this can now be done without spawning a blank character and then loading a saved character onto her.

There's a new experimental (and hopefully unobtrusive) Information Bar at the bottom of the Character Manager, which will tell you about saves and loads, if a spawn failed due to a collision detection, and if you try and spawn a character without the necessary support tier. If it seems useful I'll probably add more things to it, so it may give some useful information or tips when the player does various things.

I hope some answers can be found for peeps who find the user experience a lil tricky, it is something I'm trying to improve in every iteration! I know it's severely lacking in some areas.

Naughty Sandbox is going to space! November Update

Hey peeps.

Been working silently on some big updates for a release end of November. First, have had a few suggestions on UI improvements and some complaints about the current state of UIs in Naughty Sandbox sooooo I thought it was time for an overhaul.

First complaint / suggestion was that in spawning multiple characters, the character creator UIs cluttered the scene as one UI panel was spawned for each character. From the Nov release of Naughty Sandbox onwards, all character creation UIs will be consolidated into the new Character Manager.

The Character Manager is essentially just a Character Creator UI with tabs on top, and characters spawned into the scene will appear in those tabs. If players have named their character, her first name will appear on the tab. Selecting those tabs will, as you probably guessed, switch the Character Creator UI to edit that girl. I hope this is a relatively seamless way to create multiple characters at once.

The Character Manager also includes the ability to despawn girls. New girls are spawned from the + button on the top left, and spawned girls will appear in front of you now, rather than to the side of the previous character. Girls are despawned by the x button on their tab.

For Desktop players, most of the UI elements are now docked onto the screen rather than floating in 3D space. The floating UIs are remnants of the VR UI system, and were never really great for Desktop use, so hopefully the new UI overhaul rectifies that nicely. Each user interface panel can be moved, resized, and minimized.


The new environment for November will be an absolutely sick space station setting! This 3rd party env was funded by you guys, so thanks so much for the opportunity to have so much awesome art from other devs included in Naughty Sandbox.

I've done some relighting, optimization, sound design and a few special effects to the environment to hopefully give it some very space-tastic presence, as I want it to be as immersive as possible for both Desktop and VR players.


Among some general bug fixing (and no doubt creating more bugs by accident ;-;) there are a few other minor features in the upcoming build:

Character Waist size is now adjustable, along with Hips width and Arms thickness, for more control over character proportions.
