Welcome to Naughty Sandbox Development


Hey peeps, I'm finally jumping on SubscribeStar with my project, Naughty Sandbox, in hopes of generating some funds. I'd love to be able to not only work full time on NS, but to also have a budget in order to bring new people in on the project & to procure assets.

Naughty Sandbox's customizable, fully custom base mesh
Naughty Sandbox is an ero project with a loose development direction & limited gameplay currently. Despite that, the character and overall experience are in constant development, and features include:

  • Body customization with morphs, overall height, skin color & tanlines
  • Face customization with eye colors, eyelashes, make-up & hair
  • Character save system with biography & ability to name characters
  • Character posing & dynamic animation system
  • Breathing customization, including profiles from different VAs, and speed & intensity
  • Realtime jiggle physics

There are also a few selectable environments with more to come, and some interactivity with objects in the environment for immersive gameplay - such as picking up and using the Rodeo Machine remote control in the clip below.

Built with UE4, assets, environments and overall graphics will be high fidelity and realistic, with the potential to become near-photoreal in the future as real-time raytracing becomes more viable.

Naughty Sandbox is currently being developed in parallel for VR & Desktop, with each platform's user experience being considered carefully. There is even a seamless VR / Desktop in-game toggle for players who would like to jump in and out of VR during gameplay.

Changelog & Info for New Build!

1 day late with this build soz! Peeps have been testing this build on Disco for past couple days, and I think I've got most of the major issues ironed out.

Apologies up front cos the new maps included here are not as fleshed out as they could be, need to do sound design for the Beach Island map and some general polishing. I'm gonna be updating these maps with more unique themed equipment and lewdy stuff in the next couple months, so each map will have something actually erotic to offer rather than just being a backdrop.

These maps are my first test of a DLC system for Naughty Sandbox. To install the maps to your game, just place the extracted DLC folders into the Plugins folder of Naughty Sandbox. As an example:

Both of the DLC maps, Beach Island & Subway, are for supporters of $4 and above for now. As more maps are added in the future, I'll probably make the older ones available to everyone.

On game load, if the DLC is detected, the new Levels tab will display the maps and clicking them will teleport you there. If the DLC isn't detected (for peeps who may have put it in the wrong place or don't have access to it) the DLC maps will be displayed with a padlock, and are un-clickable. In the Levels tab, click and hold on a level to open it. I felt that a click and hold was a little smoother than an additional confirmation box, to make sure that the player hasn't mis-clicked.


The character creator / general updates in this build are available to everyone! - Here's a comprehensive list of new character creator options which I outlined in some older posts, but will do here in a changelog type format for peeps who just fucking can't get enough of changelogs!!

  • Jaw Hardness / Softness slider
  • Brow Position & Scale sliders with individual axis control
  • 3 Nose Shape Morphs & morph strength slider
  • 6 Lip Shape Morphs & morph strength slider
  • Top and bottom lip size sliders
  • Calves Size sliders with individual axis control

  • 5 breathing / vocalization profiles from 3 voice actresses!
  • A Field of View slider for Desktop players

There are also some known issues to mention:

  • The Expression selector is broken for now, I didn't realize that the Arousal system inteferes with the Expressions selector - will fix in a build aimed at later in the month
  • There's no environment sound on the Beach Island map

Character Creator: New Features + Build News

Hey lewd comrades,

Build is coming along nicely, I've been making some additions to the character creator to extend the range of face types possible. I felt like the makeup system was severely limited before, and I kinda messed up by programming it to be more rigid than it should have been. So I overhauled it to make it possible to individually select Eye Shadow, Blusher, Lips, and also added a new Brows option.

In the release, there is a few different options to select from for each, but more importantly it's super easy for me to add more makeup types in now, so in improving the werkflow for adding new styles, I'll probably throw in several new ones for each new release. Also considering player-importable makeup masks but gotta think of the best way to do this.

I'll also be adding in makeup designed after the most popular female game charas, for people to make characters eventually looking close to their fave vidya babes, for example, the classic D.Va cheek accents.

Make makeup reqs on the Disco and I'll prob add them!

Also along with general proportions of facial components, there is a new option for Noses and Lip shapes, which I'll probably extend to Ears, Eyes, etc. Players can choose their lip or nose type from a drop down menu, and change the strength of that morph to blend it in. Top and bottom lips can now also be controlled woop woop.

Additionally, different eyeballs can now be selected. There's a surprisingly small amount of variation among human eyeballs sadly, so mostly these eyeballs will be fantasy eyes for use with cosplay or fantasy charactes. The header pic is an example of one of these where she has Android eyes, and more will be revealed in October where I plan to do a Halloween themed content release. Eyeballs can ofc be changed individually for each eye, because I'm a fan of that type of shit.

There is a new Jaw Strength slider, which allows peeps to make the jawline sharper or softer, this compliments the other Jaw Proportion controls quite well IMO. Allows a bit more fine tuning to the overall face shape.

There is also a calves size section in the body proportions, calves can be scaled on all 3 axis individually. The header pic is an example of the thick calves that are now possible, for peeps who have the Extend Slider Ranges cheat enabled as talked about in one of the prev posts, they can be pushed even thicker to create chara with a bit more fantastical proportions.


I've begun package tests and will be starting internal tests on Discord today or tomorrow! If all goes well the next build release will be here by the end of Sept, the build is already relatively stable and I can't imagine there will be 4 days worth of problems to fix, but ya know.

Plans for September! >:)

I'm aiming for a build release this month, I'm trying out something I've not done before (environments as separate add-ons - more at the end) and I don't know how smoothly it will go so bear with me. There will be a few key new things in the build, primarily the near-final voice profiles & erotic vocalization system.

I've been working on this for a while and think it's finally getting to a good place, and it's what I envisioned for the project from quite early on. The core concept is that characters' behavior (breathing, body language, vocalizations etc) should be driven by "how they're feeling". The most important of those driver params for an ero game is probably horniness / arousal / pleasure, and the most important driven results are probably vocalization & facial expressions.

To that end I've been working with VA's to build a dynamic system of lewd girl noises. Using over 100 individual recordings of gasps, moans, screams of varying intensity, characters' breathing & facial expressions will change depending on how aroused they are / how much pleasure they're feeling.

I've tried to make this system look & feel as natural as possible, while being fully dynamic. The erotic vocal samples are selected semi-randomly so the system should rarely play the same sample twice in a short period of time, and vocal samples are organized into 6 levels of arousal, so the amount of pleasure she's feeling should be easy for a player to determine even with no UI elements to tell you.

In the next build there will be 5 "characters" (Profiles) to choose from for the vocalizations, from 3 different VA's so far. In total there are over 700 vocal samples, with each Profile having around 150 samples. This took a while to build and erotic vocal samples is obviously something I can't do myself, hehe, so it was also something of an expensive endeavour. I hope it will be well worth it, and I'll be improving the system and adding more profiles over time.


New builds will also contain a bonus feature (undecided of which support tier yet) which allows players to unlock slider ranges in the Character Creator. A checkbox can be unlocked which will extend every slider by double its initial range. Obviously, this will allow some real fucked up grills to be created, but it's been requested by more than a few people and from a dev perspective it actually is helpful as a debugging tool to test ranges, so I figured I'd offer it if people would like to play with less limits.

When unlocked, sliders will show the extended part in a darker tone, to make it clear what the original boundaries were.

Speaking of Character Creator, I've added a new Brow section since I realized it was sorely missing. Brows vary a ton among people so it should help create a bit more variety in the created characters now. Brows can be moved on all axis, and rotated and scaled too, to create some different shaped eye brows and change the prominence of the brow itself.


The keen eyed among u peeps will have noticed the header images and video clip contain a lush little beach type environment. This, along with the Subway car in the previous post, is a planned new selectable environment for certain undecided Patreon tiers, but they will be distributed as packs separate from the main game.

I'm trying to learn how to package and distro DLC packs since it's an awesome way to divide content, keep the package size of the main game lower, and eventually do bundles and sales and promo etc.

I haven't got any experience in this so there may be some teething problems, but if all goes well the Sept builds should contain these two shiny new enviros.

As a side note, I'm sure everyone's super pumped about the RTX 3000 series announcement. I've added raytracing to my to-research list as a potential graphical option for people with RTX!

Life Stuff + Upcoming Environment

Hello glorious lewders,

Realize it's been a while since the last post so I thought I'd make an update with something I'm working on for the next build.

I grabbed a 3rd party cinematic NYC subway environment and I'm doing some optimization, relighting, effects and sound design to make it appear as if you're on an actual moving subway car.

I think it's immersive AF right now, even on desktop mode, and should be a nice selectable enviro for Naughty Sandbox. The environment may be exclusive or timed-exclusive to certain supporter tiers but I haven't decided yet.

Since the idea is for players to be able to spawn in objects and equipment for use on the girl, I think this will make for a fun immersive playground for lewd shenans to go down. In VR, it should be a seriously cool environment to behold, with presense through the roof.

I've been toying with the idea of being able to spawn in non-lewd NPCs for environments like this, but I haven't quite figured a good way of doing it, and how it would fit in with the performance budget for VR. But being able to, in the future, create voyeuristic on-lookers is deffo on my mind.

Just a lil update here,

I'm planning for Naughty Sandbox updates to start becoming more content-driven soon.

Currently there's some usable stuff around in different levels but I want all the available equipment and accessories to be available in all the levels.

To that end I've started concepting a UI which will show all of Naughty Sandbox's items, and the idea is that you can use it to spawn items into the world.

The items are sortable by date added to Naughty Sandbox, and can be filtered by type. This won't be that useful for now, but when more and more items are added to the game, it will hopefully be a nice way of quickly finding what you want to spawn.

Since I eventually want some system of purchasing and in-game currency, I've designed the system as if it's an in-game store, but I doubt there will be any sort of in-game economy any time soon (since that requires a lot of balancing and tieing it to some reward system) so I'll probably remove the money & purchasing aspect of the UI for the initial release.

Naughty Sandbox 09H - Photograhpy & Accessories Update

Hey peeps, hoping this build is stable enough for a public release! Discord peeps have been testing it for the past few days and have helped iron out a lot of issues!

Main new features are an accessories mode and a functioning digital camera. All tiers & free players have access to the camera, but the Accessories Tab - where customizing placed accessories is possible - is unlocked for $4 and up tiers.

All piccies in this post are taken with the in-game camera! Photos are stored in NSUDEVR\Photos of the game directory and are in the format:

Changes since the last build -

  • 1 new breathing type
  • Accessory placement & customization
  • Plastic Bunny Ears
  • Two types of sunglasses
  • Rabbit Mask
  • 3 types of bow
  • Censor is now toggled on the Settings Panel and not the Character Customization panel
  • Desktop users can rotate objects when they're in Drop mode
  • Working digital camera with autofocus
  • Fixed character physics bug where breasts and ass could spawn stuck in the wall lol
  • Fixed Fatal Error on startup for some VR users

Known issues -

  • Digital camera can cause hitches in VR, especially when taking photos
  • Echo from the Toilet map are still applied when switching from the Toilet to another map
  • Vive Cosmos doesn't seem to be compatible with UnrealEngine still - UE4 bug
  • Cross input between the Trackpad & Thumbstick can occur on Index - SteamVR bug

Accessories System coming to next build!

Yo!

I've built an accessories system for Naughty Sandbox characters, and it's turned out quite swag IMO.

Supporters of any tier will be able to place & save accessories, but only supporters of $4 and above will have access to the Accessories tab of the Character Creator. The Accessories tab contains a management system which lets you customize the size, colors, and other aesthetics of placed accessories.

In the Accessories tab, each accessory will have it's own UI panel with two modifiable color parameters and one miscellaneous parameter (as seen in the screenshot) to let players get more variation out of accessories. Players can also more conveniently delete placed accessories here, but otherwise, accessories can also be removed by dragging and dropping them off of the girl.

There's a limited number of accessory items, and they only exist in the House level currently. I'll be doing som fun stuff like hiding accessories like collectables in each level, for now it's a little bare bones.

Current accessory objects are:

  • Bow with 3 variations
  • Wooden Rabbit Mask
  • Plastic Bunny Ears
  • Military / police style shades with 2 variations

Build will be coming in very soon, likely on the weekend, so please keep an eye out :D:D

Photography coming to next build!

Hey guys, I've been working on a photography feature which will make it into the next build, hopefully this week or next.

:)

The plan is to have photos save out to disk and also be viewable in an in-game photo gallery, but initial release will have them being saved out to disk sans an in-game photo viewer. There's no actual "photo mode", there will be an interactive camera that the player can pick up the same way other items are picked up.

Once held, the camera can zoom and take pics, and will auto focus on the subject while bluring background or foreground objects. Photos saved out will be high res & will have some more expensive rendering effects than normal gameplay, like lens flare & depth of field, so photographs will look super legit.

I've also added the ability for Desktop players to rotate objects once they're in drop mode. The same buttons to rotate User Interface items - Q,E,Z,X & scrolling the mouse wheel, can be used to rotate objects in Desktop mode like at the end of this photography clip -

In Naughty Sandbox, it's possible to attach characters to equipment in various ways. As more content is added, this system will become much more versatile, for example it will be possible to attach hands and feet to BDSM restraints, and to snap her lower-body to seats and equipment which will fuck her, like in the example clip.

Dynamically place her on equipment & machines


I haven't worked out exact naming conventions yet, but some attachment types are free (such as the Rodeo Machine - her lower-body can be placed anywhere on the seat and she will ride it from that position) and some attachment types are lock / snap (such as the Sex Saddle, if her lower-body is placed on this she will automatically mount it in a specific position). 

Once she's attached to equipment or other objects, they will interact with her animations, such as making her squirm, bounce etc.

I'm working on a dynamic pleasure system so that the player can place her on these machines and control them to increase and decrease her pleasure audibly & visually, and to make her cum.
