So when they had found an apparently abandoned house on the outskirt of town they just went for the window. They just wanted to rest and sleep for a long time. The glass had been harder than they thought and they still had to put effort in squeezing in once they had broken it with their horn, but once inside, they knew they had done it, this was the end of their journey, they could finally...sleep...
Hoofsteps coming from just below them had awaken them! How long had they been out? Days? Hours? Seconds...? They thought the building was derelict, that no creature would have came to look for them! So the changeling scrambled to their hooves, slipping accidentally on some viscous dark substance they didn't have time to identify, and prepared themselves for the worst! They hissed and backed away when they had seen the silhouette of a pony come up the stairs, a long straight horn coming into view...a unicorn! Oh, they were dead! So dead! They were never going to see their hive again, they were sure of it now!
But the mare that met their eyes stood there, justly horrified, and didn't light up her horn. What was she waiting for? Why did she look...concerned?
