Chapter 4 pt.2: Week 26 progress


Hey everyone,

Testing is going smoothly for the most part. There was a minor hiccup this week, but nothing that wasn't promptly fixed.

Long story short, my 7 most recent animations had a frame rate issue. I wasted a bunch of time stressing out and attempting to re-render them before I realized I was being a moron and I simply lowered the frame rate on the existing animations. They might not be as smooth as intended anymore, but it sure beats wasting another two weeks trying to fix the problem the hard way.

Speaking of... 
I think it's safe to say that I should be able to wrap up this update within the next couple of weeks! Of course, there's still a strong possibility that I'll get OCD over things and spend way too much time worrying about the story's pacing, audio balancing, continuity, and a bunch of other shit I'm sure will pop up in the 11th hour. Most of which generally don't matter to most people. However, I wouldn't be giving an estimated date if I wasn't at least reasonably sure that I could meet it.

Regardless, this is likely one of the last 2 or 3 reports before I start dropping the update!
Thanks for sticking around, despite my life conspiring to keep my dev workflow limited!

Chapter 4 pt.2: Week 25 progress


Hey Homies,

There's not a whole lot to report this week. I've just been testing as many different scene variations as time allows and refining the script wherever possible. I'm nearly finished with S7 but I still need to edit a bunch of renders and finish testing all the routes. S8 and S9 are basically finished and I'll continue testing the rest afterwards.

Chapter 4 pt.2: Week 24 progress


Hey Homies,
I had another decent week and I think I've finished all the renders and animations that I need for the completion of this chapter. At most, I might make 1 more animation, and a handful of pickup renders to fill in possible gaps during testing. I found a small section of dialogue that still needs to be filled in, hence the tiny sliver of white still remaining in the S10 meter, but apart from that, I think we're done making all the building blocks!

If everything goes perfectly... I might be able to start rolling the update out in a couple of weeks. As I've mentioned before, between testing, sound design, and the last-minute coding pass, there are still a few steps between here and the release, but we're damn close to the finish line!

Chapter 4 pt.2: Week 23 progress


Hey Homies,

There isn't a lot to report this week, but I did go pretty hard on animations. I knocked out 5 of them this week and think I only have another 2-3 left, with another 10-15 renders. After that, I'll be hopping into the testing again, and hopefully that won't take too long. 

WE'RE ALMOST THERE!! I can't wait to be finished with this chapter and start rolling it out for everyone to enjoy. 

I don't have much else to share, so I'll leave things here for today.

Chapter 4 pt.2: Week 22 progress


Hey homies,

It wasn't as productive of a week as I would have liked regarding my render numbers, but at least I've been consistent with getting at least 2 animations done every week. There isn't much scripting left at the moment (that I know of) so those numbers won't be changing too much more from week to week.

At this point, I'm mostly just trying to get the animations and renders finished before I can start properly testing everything. The reports aren't going to be terribly interesting apart from the numbers until the inevitable release date estimates. I hesitate to give an estimate yet because I know how erratic my workflow can be and I don't want to get people's hopes up until the margin of error is too small to disappoint anyone lol.

Despite the less-than-stellar reception to the recent poll and its resulting post, I have plans to follow up that post with similarly themed pinups throughout the month. I'll either repost the poll every week so that each character has a new chance to win OR to prevent spamming the same poll over and over again, I might just use the results from the first poll.

Anyway, I'll leave it here for today. I hope you all have another great week.

Chapter 4 pt.2: Week 21 progress


Hey Homies,

It's been another good week, and the end of CH4 finally in sight!

By my count, I have around 7-10 animations left (give or take depending on how the scenes flow in final testing). This half of the chapter is a little more action and story-centered. Also, there aren't any variety scenes, so the animation numbers will seem lower when all is said and done.

As for the renders, I can't imagine needing more than another 50ish renders before the final scene is done. It's a bit of a guesstimate, but I can't imagine it being far off from that. Of course, the final testing/coding/sound design is after that, and I may find some more holes that need patching. 

The missing section I found last week has been filled and, apart from a handful of lines, the CH4 script is practically finished! 

We're almost there! I still have a fair amount of testing/coding/sound design to perfect once all the puzzle pieces have finished rendering. But if all goes well, the CH4 Full Release is just a stone's throw away!

I'm going hard on subscriber posts this week to make up for the missed posts last week. Keep an eye out for those, and I'm sorry for missing them again.
