it took me a bit longer than anticipated but now it's finally here. Demon Age v0.2 just came out for my alpha testers and will come out for my beta testers in two weeks.

I added some new major features this time, so if you want everything to work correctly you will have to start a new game. Right now this can't be helped since the game is still very early in development. I assume this will happen again with v0.3. So if you don't want to start a new game constantly, I would suggest waiting for v0.3 because until then all major features should be in the game and save game compatibility is easier to do.

But I would still appreciate it if you want to help me test the game and give me your feedback, you can now also skip the intro of the game by interacting with the signpost at the start of the game.

Hey everyone,

I'm now back to work on Demon Age and I'm currently working on the second area. 
Alpha updates are bit harder to do right now because it wouldn't make much sense to release a new update when the second area is only partially done or I'm in the middle of implementing new mechanics. So the plan is that once the second area is completely done I will release a new update for alpha testers and then around two weeks later for beta testers.

Besides working on the second area, I have also spent a lot of time working on companions and their behavior when they follow you.

Previously, enemy battles would trigger as soon as they collide with you or one of your companions, but the problem was that once you have two or more companions following you it was very hard to avoid enemy encounters. So now enemies will ignore your companions and simply run through them. The battle will now only start when they collide with the player character.

Things like these seem like they were no big deal but they can become annoying very quickly, especially if you try to avoid some fights for whatever reason.

But the biggest change is that you can now interact and talk with your companions any time they follow you. They will say different things depending on which area you are in, they will occasionally give you some hints if you get stuck somewhere, and some companions, like Nina for example, will also be able to heal you or do other things. In the future I want to expand that even further with more dialogues depending on your relationship with them.

I think this way your companions will feel much more alive and not only like mindless NPCs who just follow you around.

thanks to everyone who gave me their feedback to Demon Age so far. It really helps me a lot to hear all of your opinions, especially on new game projects where I never really know how some new features or changes might be received. But most of the things have been pretty positive so far and I can't wait to see how this game turns out in the end.

Anyways, I just released a new free update that fixes several bugs, adds some new functionality to some base features as well as some other stuff here and there. You can download it from my blog like always.

Updated Content:
-Reworked message functionality (alt tabbing out of the game doesn't advance text anymore, you can save and load while in dialog, hide the message box, fast forward and auto advance text)
-You can now interact with the signpost at the beginning of the game to skip the intro if you have already seen it before
-Changed a view lines so they make more sense when you play as the female MC
-You now get a notification every time the affection value of your companion changes
-The eye color differences between the demons on the map should now be a bit more obvious
-Nights are now a bit brighter
-Fixed a few visual bugs

This will probably be the last update that focuses on basic features and starting with the next update I will add some actual new content. 

But that will have to wait a bit for now, because as you might know, when I have two game projects, I usually switch working between them monthly or bi-monthly and since I have focused this month on Demon Age I will spend the next month on X-Change Sleepover.

I also have one more unannounced game project to show you all as well but I will only start working on it for real after X-Change Sleepover gets completed because there is no way I can work on three games at the same time.

I just released v0.1a of Demon Age, it fixes a game breaking bug that happened every time you reached level 5. Just copy and replace the game files inside your old one and it should work.

There is now also a new additional download link since some people had problems with mega.
