🎮 This Isn't That – First Playable Prototype!

Hey everyone!

I'm excited to share the first playable prototype of This Isn't That, my brand new life simulation game!

Now, before anyone gets too excited, I want to set some expectations about exactly what this release is.

I only started developing This Isn't That on 21st October 2026. That's just over a week ago!

From the beginning, my plan was to spend the remainder of October building the foundations of the game, get something playable into your hands, and see what you think.

And here we are!

🛠️ What's actually in this prototype?

This release is primarily about testing the engine and simulation systems running underneath the game.

I've been building a framework that supports:

A persistent world with a functioning clock, calendar and day/night cycle.
Jessica's daily needs, including energy, hunger, hygiene and mood.
Activities, routines and time management.
Clothing selection, with outfits reflected in the environment.
Character statistics and progression.
An interactive apartment and the beginnings of a much larger world.
A phone interface and social features.

The simulation is designed to keep running indefinitely. You could technically play for years of in-game time if you wanted to!

🏠 What isn't included yet?

At the moment, Jessica's apartment is the only location with its renders and visual content implemented.

There is still an enormous amount to build, including other locations, characters, interactions, activities and stories.

You'll also notice some rough edges. For example, the main menu video is currently only 720p, so it might look a little blurry or less sharp than you'd expect from one of my finished games.

That's intentional for this stage of development.

I've deliberately avoided spending time polishing every visual detail because that isn't what I'm trying to test right now.

The goal was never to produce a polished game in eight days. It was to establish whether the underlying systems could support the kind of game I would like to make.

💬 What I'd love from you

Play around with it. Explore the apartment. Change Jessica's clothes. Try different activities. Let time pass. Sleep, wake up, and repeat.

See what works, what doesn't, and what feels like it has potential.

I'm especially interested in hearing about bugs, broken systems, unexpected behaviour and ideas for improving the simulation.

And, of course, I'd love to know what you think of the concept itself.

🚀 Where does it go from here?

My ambition for This Isn't That goes considerably beyond what's currently playable.

I want to build a living, evolving world where Jessica's choices, relationships, routines and experiences shape her life over time.

But that takes a solid foundation, and that's what this first prototype is about.

Eight days of development. One working prototype. A huge amount still to come.

THE STEAM RELEASE DATE IS HERE! 🔥

It's official!

After a lot of hard work, thousands of renders, countless hours of development and a little patience waiting for Steam's approval, I'm delighted to announce that Jessica's Choices – Forced is launching on Steam this Thursday, 22 October 2026, at 6 PM UK time!

Episode 1 marks the beginning of the next chapter in Jessica's story, with new choices, new consequences and plenty more to come.

A massive thank you to everyone who has supported the development of Forced, followed its progress and wishlisted the game. Your support genuinely means a lot.

🎃 SURPRISE! JESSICA & KATE: SCREAM QUEENS — ACT I IS HERE! 🔪

I've been keeping myself busy with a little side project since the beginning of the month, and I'm pleased to say it's finished!

Jessica & Kate: Scream Queens is a non-canon Halloween horror special featuring two familiar faces, plenty of questionable decisions, some very inappropriate humour and, of course, a masked killer.

This isn't just a collection of Halloween renders. It's a playable story with choices, different perspectives, hidden observations and consequences that may carry into future Acts.

It's something a little different, created in just under two weeks as an extra treat for you lovely lot while work continues on my main games.

I hope you have as much fun playing it as I've had making it!

Well... this post is arriving a little earlier than I'd originally planned. 😂

Jessica's Choices – Forced: Episode 1 is now officially released on SubscribeStar for all tiers!

Some of you may already know that the build has found its way into the wild slightly ahead of schedule. I was originally planning to keep the current build with supporters until the wider public release next week, but apparently Jessica had other ideas. 😅

Rather than dwelling on that, I want to concentrate on what actually matters.
