🍃MotW: The process behind, upgrades, 3D Models, and more!

Hey, everyone! I wanted to give you a little behind-the-scenes look and explain a bit of the process behind creating the Mark of the Wild comic. Besides, I want to take the chance to show these beautiful models <3.

When I decided to turn this experimental project into a full-fledged comic, I quickly realized the massive workload it would involve.

Keeping characters consistent from frame to frame, nailing those tricky poses and perspectives, and adding color to each page is no small feat! That's why I thought one way to make this process a bit easier would be by creating 3D models of the main characters (and, in some cases, settings) featured in the comic (Huge shoutout to Crisisbeat for creating them <3). Plus, having these models opens up the possibility of creating some interesting animations in the future.

Storyboarding is perhaps one of the most challenging and stressful tasks, especially after trying to create an entertaining and coherent story. That's why I had to seek external help. Crisisbeat has been mostly responsible for this process until a month ago, when a new team member joined the storyboard crew, whom I'll be introducing soon.

You can notice quite a difference in styles between the toryboard images 😅.

It's worth mentioning that the dialogues in the storyboard are originally in spanish, as both my team and I are Spanish speakers 😅.

Here is where I make the best use of the 3D models, using them as a base reference for the layout of each page. (I usually clone Lulusa to simulate female secondary characters when they appear on the scene XD)

As for the backgrounds, in 90% of cases, I take some screenshots from World of Warcraft game and then proceed to stylize them XD (let's be honest, the game aesthetic is impressive!).

In other cases, I create complete scenes, which will be used more extensively in the future.

Once the poses are ready, I define some expressions, and it's time to ink :D!

Flat colors, shadows, lights, lettering, some effects here and there...

Before publishing the pages, my editor Brighterfuture110 takes care of reviewing and improving the English-translated version, and voilà, the final result.

And since you've had the patience to read this far, I want to share a final detail. I'm planning to create a Safe for Work (SFW) version of Mark of the Wild (including a vertical format for mobile) to be published on Webtoon and Tapas, however, I don't know much about those platforms or how they work, so I'm heading into completely uncharted territory. Any advice you can give me regarding Webtoon?

After reviewing the written story, I think I have enough content to keep MotW going for at least another two years ^^. But don't worry! I'll continue at the same pace with the sexy and smut content we all enjoy!
