Finally, Subscribestar!
Many of you have probably noticed that I’m still using a lot of art from ZXC’s game, especially images of Laven, rather than Lathe.
Also, many of you have noticed that there’s no music yet, and that there are a number of scenes that are primarily sprite art, rather than full-portrait. But there’s more than that, and I want to talk about it. I want to be as transparent as I can get. First, what do you get out of it?
Offerings To be entirely honest, I’m not sure what to offer. I currently plan on two tiers: a $2 tier and a $5 tier. Each would get their own place in the game credits. So, I’m asking you: What do you want to see in a $5 subscription tier?
In the meantime, I'll be making posts that detail how I put together certain aspects of my game, so that other game creators in a similar vein can make use of my ideas.
The Plan What will the Subscribestar money go into?
-
Commissions: I plan to prioritize art commissions to account for all the scenes this game will have, especially replacements for the placeholder artwork, most particularly ZXC's Laven art. There’s a lot of weird stuff I want to show off visually! Also, I want to eventually commission some music for the game. Since the game has such a focus on sensory gameplay elements, I don’t want to go overboard, but music for scenes and particularly important characters is something I eventually want.
-
The Bills: It’s a little obvious, but any extra help here helps.
-
Subscriptions: That’s right! Your donation to my project can indeed be split between subscribestar twice in order to support other creators by proxy!
Occasional Games: Like I said in one of my earlier update posts, when the rest is covered, I’ll probably get myself the occasional game or two, especially other puzzle games. I’d be lying if I said something like ‘I’m going to be using these specifically for inspiration!’, but other similar games sure do give me a lot of ideas.
Future Plans
It might be a bit too soon to talk about this, but after the demo is done to my satisfaction (the Galport City region and all 10 of its main quests), I do plan to make a separate page for the full game. My hope is to be earning enough from Subscribestar that I can make the full game free too!
Afterwards, and between regions, I intend to work on completely different games in other genres, and with settings very different from this one.
… Probably similar fun though. No doubt about that.
The Rest Thank you so much for your support! I'll do my best to deliver.
As most of you already know, you can find all of my work on
my itch.io or more specifically
my game's public demo.
