Update, 19th … uh I mean 21st of June, 2024
Hello My Friends
Interestingly my first week I really wasn’t motivated well, and had trouble getting into the right mindset, but the images were simple enough that I was able to get more done.
The second week I was motivated, and yet I ended up getting less done due to having issues with DAZ Studio. (The posing software.)
I still look at the progress I have made and ask myself, “That’s it?”
I am trying to keep from posting about my personal crap here. For now lets say things are better, and things are moving in a good direction, but I am not “out of the woods” yet.
My goal is to carve out even more time, both to work on this project, but for my sanity. I do not want to burn out when things are finally on track. I’m just not close enough to my goal to do that just yet.
Final Thoughts
I am close to finishing a scene that should have been done months ago. If things go good I should be done with it by the next update.
The scene after that is short, so should hopefully go quickly, then the final scene before I release the next update.
When I hit my next personal goal, I will think of skipping an afternoon from work at least once, or twice a month to work on this project.

Update, 6th of June, 2024
Hello My Friends
This time my update fell on 3 weeks, which I thought would let me tell you I got more done.
First Week
In my first hour I was getting some progress on a rather annoying image. I have tried to build up the habit of making a few changes, and save. Make a few more changes, and save. Well, this time I was an hour in and ran into a glitch. Something popped up in the scene, and I couldn’t get rid of it.
I had to reload, and start from the beginning. (From the end of the previous image.)
I took a short break to calm down, though loading takes so long that I would have had to wait half that time anyway. But I did finish the image.
Second Week
Forgot that it was a holiday here in the US, and it landed on my day off. My family always gets together, so I spent it with family.
Third Week
I had some decent progress on my third week, but I wasn’t satisfied with missing the previous week. Things have been going fairly well for us so I took a day off work and spent time working creating another couple of images, though one still needs cleaning up.
Final Thoughts
Progress has increased, but still slower than I would like, but compared to the previous year, the past month has been great.

Yes, late again. Now I have more time to work on my visual novel, then find I have trouble getting these updates written.
Faster, but not fast enough
I was able to get a couple images done the first week, but had to fix one of them the second, while I got another couple of images done.
Unfortunately doing only a couple images a week isn’t all that impressive. But I’m quite picky about how things look. I am not happy with very many preset poses out there. If I use them, It’s just a starting point.
I have also slightly altered the script. Often as I am working on the images and placing them into the VN I find I think lines can be adjusted, or they might need to be because the image was a little different than expected. I am constantly tweaking things.
My goal is to make them look more human, and not just plastic dolls stuck into the scenes. You will have to tell if I’m successful or not.

Hello My Friends
Sorry, my update is late again.
Sorry, my update is late again.
I freed up time to work on my project, but haven’t freed up time to write these updates.
More Time
As I said, I freed up one day a week, and like magic emergencies, and family events suddenly pop up to fill that time.
But I was still able to spend more time working on The Secret of the Island. Though too much time was spent trying to figure out something in Photoshop, trying to correct for something I wasn’t able to do in DAZ Studio.
My first 2 free days did not work out like I had hoped, but I still got more work done than I did the previous month.
My Tools
For people that are interested, I am creating my images in DAZ Studio. I then use Photoshop to clean things up, and all too often to fix problems.
I use Scrivener to write the scripts, and Ren’Py is the visual novel engine.
My next update should be the first of May, but knowing me it might be a couple days late.

Little progress. But one more image done. Not barely enough.
Changing schedule
Starting this week, I will be taking an evening off one of my jobs. Finally, a little more free time.
This is going to be both more time for the visual novel, but it will also result in more down time too.
Initially I was trying to force a couple hours in between jobs. Didn’t exactly work as well as I had hoped, but I was getting a little done here and there. The problem with that is I still have to prepare to go to work. I still have to commute to work. Everyone who has to commute to work understands this.
This week will be a little light on work since I have a little car emergency to deal with, but I will still have time to work on The Secret of the Island. Next week should be better.
Late Update
I wrote more, but decided to cut out what I was going to say. I may post what I wanted to say later, but already I have spent 4 days writing this. I keep having to stop and head out to work.

Hello My Friends
Sorry about the last “update”. I just got hit with hard with the flu. It was already late, and when I finally posted I was feeling horrible. It knocked me on my ass.
Now I am better, but low in energy.
Who’s Sandy?
I’ve decided to add a name to my significant other. Sandy. Obviously not her real name, but because her favorite movie is Grease, I took the name from there.
Anyway “Sandy” is convinced that I was hit so hard because I’ve been “burning the candle on both ends.”
March has been a setback for us, but things are still moving in a good direction. Things should improve in April, and may we should be back on track.
Can you talk about the Visual Novel Already
What I mentioned above is for a reason. I do need to reduce my chances of burnout, and with our problems starting to reduce, I might be able to cut out an evening. This means more time working on my visual novel, while having more free time. Two things I desperately need.
I made a little progress before I got sick, none while I was sick, and almost nothing after. Now that I am better I am back to working on it, but again slow.
I am about to start building yet another prop from the show, and hope it doesn’t take that long.
