Development Status and the future.

Hi folks, update on V0.90.00 status and what I am doing.

I said that there’s a chance for it to be ready by the middle of this month, but I am nowhere near the finish line today. So, I am moving this big update to another spot at the end of this month. Hopefully, it will be ready by then. Unfortunately, this is not an update which can be divided into smaller parts and released separately, as events happen over a single night.

As mentioned in previous posts, this update is a big one and I need extra time on it as it ends our main story. After that, we will dive into the endings (which themselves will be rather large).

Unlike a month before, I also don’t want to refocus on releasing smaller updates because it takes away from work on V0.90.00, and it is already delayed. I’d rather focus on releasing it and finally finish the main story. Extra POVs/scenes etc. can always be added during the next phase of development. There are still some missing POV’s from Iris/Sylvia side, but just a few.

User Interface

Work on the new UI has also progressed a bit, but this is mostly a side project for 0.90.00 and it might come after 0.90.00 will be released. I experimented a bit when I was making the game, adding stuff like Gallery and Flowchart, and you can see they are in two different themes. Overall, I want the UI to look like Flowchart for everything, with the same theme for a consistent “pro” look. The UI update will also add a proper patchnotes section in the main menu, some extra CGI art from our fellow angel supporters, and some custom ones with characters that will be unlockables, a lorebook to learn more about the world, profiles of characters involved, etc.

Translation/Proofreading

I started to look for professional translation/proofreading help. Once I will finish the main story while I will be working on endings, I'll let pro go over the script to fix all mistakes and improve a bit my "engrish". I also started to look for people who will be translating it into other languages. IDK about how much it will cost so far and I keep it at aspirational goal for now.

Audio

I also started to work a bit on audio improvements. Proper sex sounds, more environmental sounds, moans, a bit more situational sounds. Same with music, for a while I felt that my music is too limited and it was kind of getting boring around middle of game. I started to search for other themes that would more fit various states of characters during some scenes. Ideally each state of our characters like swapping, ntr, vanilla etc. should each have their theme along with division for character involved.

I started to experiment a bit with AI voices for characters but unfortunately as much as it is possible for them to express normal lines in a way I want they don't work correctly when applied to more erotic situations. Ultimately I would love to hire voice actresses but I know VA is very expensive and my game has a toooon of lines. Just translation will be expensive, let alone VA.

Prologue Rework

The first 21 events in the game, which end with Sylvia screaming at Jack in anger, were the first events I ever did for the initial release of In Her Service v0.34. Since then I’ve improved a lot, and looking at those renders, I decided to improve them. Those first events are important because usually people decide if they will start playing the game or not based on their first interaction with it. In my case, I think my best work is the latest, and the weakest is the first I did.

So, I also started working a bit on redoing some of the renders. There are about 300 renders in total to reshoot, and mostly they just need lighting correction and nothing else. So it’s not much of a workload. The point is that I started doing some work—though not much—but after I release 0.90.00 there will be some update where update prologue will be released along other patch.

Hi folks !

August is ending and this means that I wanna talk about sort of summary of my project since the start in February 2024. I like to do those kinds of summaries to see where I stand with the pace of the work I do as well as judge future by that.

Below you can read other summaries I did before:

[Dev Diary] 1st Anniversary.

So let's see the stats first... In that half a year since first anniversary on 22nd of February 2025 we went:

✅ 7,2 -> 9,2h Gametime [+2h]

✅ 93 -> 122 Events [+29]

✅ 26,858 -> 35786 Lines of text [+8928]

✅ 3185 -> 5385 Images [+2200]

✅ 196 -> 334 Animations [+138]

Updates: roughly every 2 weeks and 3 days.

Overall work efficiency I am pretty happy. There's slight slowdown in content production but that was mostly because I sat on Flowchart production for a lot of time which massively improved imo game, plus i have to deal with a lot of variations now which tends to slow down progress a lot.

Thankfully endings are around the corner and content production should increase it's pace as I won't have to deal with six different variations of events and think about all possible branches writing script. Obviously endings will have also barely any choices if at all for some which further means I can focus on the content for them.

Endings. As some of you read after next 2-3 updates we will dive into endings. Much like with General Arc those endings will be done one after another to speed up creation process and force me to make them unique rather than think about reuse of some scenes. When we will arrive at 0.90.00 I will make a post detailing exact approach, how much each ending should take etc.

I am hopeful that by 22nd of February 2026 I will be able to release 1.0 of In Her Service. Right now it seems very possible but it is hard to judge how much time exactly endings will take me to finish. Some will require less work while others will require a lot of work.

The plan:

In Her Service 1.0 I started to develop IHS back in 2023. Now that's 2025 here is updated roadmap:

✅ 0.39 - initial release (2023 - 2024-02-28)

✅ 0.4x - mistake arc (2024-03-08)

✅ 0.5x - calm arc (2024-04-30)

✅ 0.6x - the message arc (2024-08-06)

✅ 0.7x - the general arc (2024-12-06)

⏰ 0.8x - the marriage arc (2025 april)

❌ 0.9x - endings (2025 october - early 2026)

❌ BETA - reworks: music/sound/ui/prologue (early 2026)

❌ 1.0 - final game (early 2026) (pro eng proofreading)

Some of you know I also have aspirational goals and a bit more to IHS than 1.0:

❌ 1.1 - scenes expansion

❌ 1.2 - new mini arc

❌ 2.0 - enchanted edition

Enchanted Edition is aspirational version of game provided I will get enough support from you guys. It would include:

✅ Voice actresses for Sylvia, Talia, Iris and Fiona

✅ Professional translation into FR/ITA/GER/SPA/POR/CHN/JAP/RUS

✅ original music for the game

✅ tighten up / reworked some of scenes for better quality

Everything after 1.0 will be developed as side project to my other game I will be developing after I will put 1.0 into your hands folks.

V0.81 & Flow Chart "Unlock All" Button

Hi guys and galls !

FLOW CHART FEEDBACK

Since the release of the flowchart, I've gotten a lot of positive feedback (thank you!) and it seems to accomplish the role I set out for it: showing you possible scenes in the game with all variations, and how to unlock some scenes.

Now that a week has gone by and I've gotten the feedback, it quickly dawned on me that while my flowchart works great if you play it as a finished game, it doesn't really work when you play it as an early access game requiring frequent replays just to see some new scenes every update, hoping you managed to make enough saves and remember which save is which.

So with V0.81, I will provide an "Unlock" button in the flowchart so that when you press it, the entire flowchart tree will be unlocked, and you will be able to replay every scene without having to replay the game over and over again every update.

V0.81

I am back from some private life stuff (stuff + Easter) and I have started to scope out V0.81. So, what's the plan for V0.81 ?

  • mentioned above flow chart unlock (need some more R&D and programming)
  • 2 events from main story (short ones)
  • another POV scene ?

It won't be a big update as I used up most of my free time from my job on V0.80 this month, and I have to work this whole week, so I'll be working mostly after work, hoping to hit April 29th.

TLDR:

V0.80 Flow Chart Finished !

Hey guys and galls !

I present you guys final version of Flow Chart :) Honestly it took a lot less time than I predicted it would but at the same time the main challenge wasn't in technical aspect but on the content side. Going through every single event add bits to those events to make flow chart work, then adjust variables etc.

Either way, it's done.

Now that we have flow chart that can be access from both main menu and while playing the game (that shows you where you are in the story too !) I can now move to add event or two to finish 0.80 update and give it to you guys :)

For those who didn't follow previous posts. This Flow Chart will give you ability to not only replay events as if you were playing new game but also locked events will show their requirement and how to unlock them so it has three functions:

  • Walktrough
  • Scene Replay
  • Unlocking events from different Point of View (POV) like Sylvia's

For 0.80 I plan only one or two events from different POV and one new event from Jack pov that continues story. I don't plan to add a lot of POVs otherwise i wouldn't be able to finish the game :P But there will be some nice ones for sure.

Marry Christmas and v0.71 state.

Hi guys and galls, Perkel here.

Firstly, with Christmas approaching, I extend my warmest wishes to all of you for the very best in your lives, abundance in wealth, love, and health.

When I released the initial version at the start of this year (February - v0.39) i thought that maybe i will get dozens of people who would choose to support me and i hoped that 2025 would be a year in which if things would go well i might get some support and pursue a career in game dev for real. Instead, you guys literally changed the outlook pretty much from the start. I didn't expect so much support so quickly.

So for that, I again thank you guys for showing me that there are people who like what I do. I still feel like I did back in February releasing v0.39, seeing the first people try my game and comment on it.

v0.71 State

Due to December being heavy in terms of job (the end of the year in my company is particularly sensitive) and private life (Christmas, etc.), the update target is currently set for the end of the year, but it might slip into the first week of January. I tried to pull it off before Christmas, but I simply don't have enough time to work on my game. This Sunday, is actually the only "free" day I've had in the last two weeks.

v0.71 should come with 3 events and 2 sex scenes which will occur depending on your previous choices, so it will be a normal-sized update. I have finished 1.5 events already but those 2 sex scenes are very important to get right, and I just didn't have enough free time to finish them. That delegation in late November really did a number on my schedule...

Some good news I want to share.

First of all, due to your support, I was able to renegotiate my job contract with my boss last week. As some of you know, when my game went into production in 2023, I negotiated with my employer that I would work only half-time, to which my employer agreed on the condition that if there would be an emergency or an unusual amount of work, I would have to show up for work. I renegotiated my contract and switched to proper half-time work, without emergencies anymore, no sudden delegations, no unusual work calls. 2 weeks of work, 2 weeks free in a month. Most of the time I worked like that, which left me around 1 week per update. But as in late November and now December, it could lead to barely a week or even now in December few days free to work on the game.

Turns out that if people support you, it makes it easier to renegotiate job conditions. Who would have thought? With this change, starting from January, updates should be on a more stable cadence. So situations like late November last month shouldn't happen again. More time for me to work on my game, more game for you guys. Win-win.

Second good news.

On the advice of a fellow erotic game developer, I applied for my game to be featured on Oppaiman's website. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Oppaiman, he is a prominent figure in the erotic gaming community who has achieved immense success on Patreon. With thousands of supporters backing him and his studio (which currently consists of 10 team members), Oppaiman has established himself as a powerhouse in the industry. Recognizing the value of supporting fellow developers, the head of Oppaiman's studio created a platform dedicated to promoting various other games like mine.

There was a certain quality bar that my game had to have, and thankfully, the moderators found my game to be okay. From now on, people who use that site will be able to discover my game there.

Not only did they feature my game on their site, but they also gave my game a shoutout on their massive Patreon. This is why suddenly, in the last few days, you guys grew by 1/3, which is crazy. So I want to say welcome to everyone who joined in those few days. I really hope that I will meet your expectations.

Much like I discussed it before, I plan to go full-time as a game developer, and instead of working on my game half of the month, I would love to work full-time on it. With such increased support, I feel very strange because that moment is coming much faster than I expected.

My initial estimation for a full-time transfer was about $1500, but after some further calculations, including health insurance, etc., I need around $1900 to quit my job and move over completely to game development. With your kind support on both Patreon and Subscribestar, I am more than halfway there already!

Overall, I want to thank you again for your support this year. This year was kind of crazy for me, and finally, I released my project for all of you to play. Back in 2012 when I started to design it, at the back of my head, I had this feeling that it might not work out. Yet here I am, and here you are.
