Dreams of Marehaven! And putting BF on pause...
Hey all! Revolver here. It's been a while. We know you guys have been looking forward to hearing any updates on Beyond Friendship, and we've finally got some to share with you.
When Sugarless and I started making this game together, it turns out we were a bit too naive and optimistic about what it takes to get a game as ambitious as Beyond Friendship off the ground. There's a lot more to it than either of us expected, and recently, both of us have started to feel as though we could use a bit more practice making simpler games first so that our skills as developers can measure up to our big ideas.
So now we're starting the Revolver and Sugarless training arc! And we're starting that off by announcing the creation of a brand-new game...

It takes place in a world not altogether different from our own, following the former Paragon of Magic, Eventide Embers as she goes off to college. Could this dream be coming from Embers herself, or someone else? We may never know for sure. But she's bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, nubile and naive, and she's looking to re-invent herself after arriving in a new city. Dreams of Marehaven: A Proper College Experience is a visual novel that takes place in a dream world in the same setting as Beyond Friendship. You play as Eventide Embers, a sheltered, freshman, unicorn girl with a shiny violet coat and a mind full of possibilities. You come from a sheltered background, so you're not used to all the boobs and bulges that your fellow students seem so keen on displaying. But you're determined to fit in around here, so what's a gal to do? You could always ask for help...
Tenebra is the star of the football team. He's a massive, hunky zebra guy with arms like cannons and abs you could grate cheese on. If you're tired of being labeled as a feeble bookworm, there's no one more qualified to help you grow strong. The only problem with him is that he's got an arrogant streak more than a mile long. With a brutal mix of power, charisma, and ruthlessness, in another life, he could have been an evil king...
Locus is the most popular girl in school. Smart, seductive, and sweet when she wants to be, she's the center of attention in whatever room she walks into. If you've always wanted to know what it's like to be the queen bee in the hive, here's your chance! The only thing is...well, there are these rumors going around. The girls she hangs out with don't seem to stick around for very long, especially the pretty ones. The official story is that they all transferred to other schools...but is that all there is to it?
DoM:APCE is currently in early development, with more news coming very soon! Dreams of Marehaven is planned to be an anthology series of stories that take place in the same world as Beyond Friendship but in an alternate universe. In other words, none of the stuff that happens here is canon because it's all a dream! And that means the possibilities are endless...
Currently, we plan to work on DoM:APCE for the next six months, and then talk to you guys so we can gauge interest and see what we ought to do next. Whether that's continue working on DoM:APCE, return to work on BF, or start an entirely new game in the DoM series, we've got a lot of exciting possibilities on the horizon, and Sugarless and I can't wait to share more about what we've been working on.
We wanted to give a big thanks to the patrons who've been supporting us for so long and never lost faith in us. You guys honestly seem a little crazy to me because I don't even think I have as much faith in this game as you guys do, which is why that means so much to us, and why I also want to give thanks to free-plan followers who are keeping up with news about the game and talking about it with their friends. We need every single one of you guys to make our games a success, and we couldn't be more grateful for your support.
