Update on my Wacom situation
I had been scheduled to stream today (April 9th), but encountered a huge showstopper. I'm posting this to my site, my substar, and my patreon to get everyone up to date.
Today I applied a firmware update to my Cintiq that has since made the drawing tablet completely unusable. There are horizontal lines all down the screen, every other line on the right half flickers, and the pen won't register anywhere in the lower left of the screen. Even if I keep to the top right, it still misses inputs often enough that I can't draw with it.
I've been corresponding with Wacom support about this all day trying to get a solution. None of their suggestions have done anything to fix it, because I suspect the problem was with that firmware update and not the driver. There is currently no way I'm aware of to roll back the firmware to an older version to fix it. Wacom may present a solution over email in the next few days if I get someone that knows about this issue, but so far my experience with them is that they either replace the hardware or tell you to reinstall drivers with nothing in between. If one of them can somehow send me an executable that will roll back my firmware to fix this then I'll be beyond pleased.
In the meantime, my solution has been to set up a spare tablet (a Huion) that I got for sketching on the go. It'll have to do until I can get this sorted out. The colors aren't great, but I can use my other monitor to check colors.
If push comes to shove I'll need to buy a whole new Cintiq, which is a $3,500 expense I wasn't counting on having. Huion does make a comparable screen that runs about $2,000, but I'd rather not downgrade considering how happy I was with the cintiq before it started malfunctioning.
I'm really sorry about this. Currently I'm set to stream tonight (Night of April 10th) which will have to happen on my backup tablet.
