🎃 Trick or Treat? – New Release Dates!

Hi guys,

Trick or treat? Michelle has a little Halloween surprise for you! 🎃

We hope you enjoy this special Halloween greeting from her. And she has brought some good news along with her magic. ;)

Here are the planned release dates for the next version of The Promise- The Beginning:

$10 Subscriber: 29.11.
$5 Subscriber: 06.12.
$2 Subscriber: 13.12.
Public Release: 20.12.

Development is moving forward, and we're happy to finally share the next release schedule with you.

As always, more information about the upcoming content and the full changelog will follow closer to the release.

Changelog for upcoming 0.99.9

Version 0.99.9 – 100+ Fixes, Major CQM Update & Full Changelog

Hi guys,

before the release of Version 0.99.9, we want to share the full changelog and give you a clearer picture of what has gone into this update.

Version 0.99.9 is a different kind of update, with a much stronger focus on progression, stability, the CQM, and strengthening the foundation of the game.

There is still new and completed playable content, especially involving Michelle, but the technical and structural work makes up the larger part of this release.

While reviewing the game as Part 1 moves further toward its final stage, more than 100 bugs and issues were identified and fixed — and many of them were much more serious than small visual problems or typos.

Some could block entire questlines, send players into the wrong route, skip events, create invalid progression states, cause incorrect calculations, or even lead to crashes. Some were serious enough that repair handling had to be added for affected existing saves.

With a game as large and interconnected as The Promise has become, we felt it was important to fix these problems properly instead of simply adding more content on top of them.

The Character & Quest Management system has also received a major update.

Character profiles can now evolve alongside the individual playthrough. As new characters are met, information is discovered, relationships develop, and important choices are made, their profiles can gradually reflect what the player character has actually learned and experienced.

New Character Profile Update notifications also make it easier to notice when identities, relationships, background information, or important developments have been added.

More quest information is also being integrated into the CQM as the system is prepared for future development.

The goal is simple:

Less guessing. Less missed content. Clearer progression.

Version 0.99.9 therefore focuses on three major areas:

Fix and strengthen the foundation
More than 100 bugs and issues have been addressed, including critical progression blockers, route conflicts, incorrect conditions, economy problems, crashes, event errors, and many smaller problems throughout the game.

Improve the CQM and character system
Character profiles can evolve with the story, important profile changes are easier to notice, and more quest information is being integrated to make existing content easier to find and follow.

Add, finish, and improve playable content
Michelle’s cinema routes are now complete, including many new animations and the finished ultimate scene. The repeatable part of Michelle’s final bar event has also been added, including Queen, Masked, Husband, Wild, and King variations with temporary and permanent role changes.

After this extensive cleanup, we hope that the biggest underlying progression and stability issues are now behind us and that the game as a whole is in a much healthier state.

The CQM in particular now has a much stronger and more stable foundation that we can continue building on in future updates. Of course, with a game this large we cannot promise that every single issue is gone, but Version 0.99.9 should put us in a much better position going forward — both for adding new content and for making the huge amount of existing content easier to find and experience as intended.

Future updates will continue adding new content, but before Part 1 is complete, we also want to make sure that everything already there works as reliably as possible and can be completed as intended.

Version 0.99.9 is therefore an important step toward making The Promise stronger, clearer, more stable, and better prepared for the final stage of Part 1.

Relase dates for 0.99.9 & Development Update

Hi guys,

i know it has been quite a while since my last proper update, so I want to start by thanking you for your patience and continued support during this quieter period.

Here are the planned release dates for Version 0.99.9:

$10 / €7.50 Subscriber: 10.08.
$5 / €4 Subscriber: 17.08.
$2 / €1.50 Subscriber: 24.08.
Public Release: 31.08.

This development cycle has taken considerably longer than usual, and I know the wait has been long.

The upcoming version will include:

new playable content,
a major update to the CQM — the Character and Quest Management system,
considerably more bug fixes than usual,
and further stability and internal improvements.

Over the years, The Promise has grown into a very large game with many characters, quests, events, requirements, and interconnected paths. Because of that, it has become increasingly important to make it easier for players to reliably find and reach the available content.

The expanded CQM will make it much easier to track active quests and character stories, understand their requirements and locations, find the next step, and recognize when a storyline has reached its currently available endpoint.

Many existing quests and character paths were not yet fully represented in the CQM. This sometimes made it difficult to tell whether more content was available, where a story continued, or whether its current ending had already been reached.

Reviewing and integrating the large number of quests has required a lot of work, but it should make the entire game much clearer and easier to navigate.

The update also contains an unusually large number of bug fixes. A lot of time has been spent reviewing older content, correcting problems, improving stability, and making sure connected events and systems work together more reliably.

The first part of The Promise trilogy is now moving toward its final stage. Because of that, it is especially important to bring the existing content, player guidance, and overall stability into a better state before Part 1 is considered complete.

However, even though the version number has now reached 0.99.9, this does not mean that only one update remains. There will still be several updates for Part 1. The version number should not be seen as a countdown where the next release automatically has to be Version 1.0.

Version 0.99.9 is another important step toward bringing Part 1 closer to completion and improving the overall experience.

More information about the featured characters, new scenes, and story content will follow closer to the release, together with the full changelog.

Once again, thank you very much for your patience and continued support. I hope the new content, the many fixes, and the improvements throughout the game will make the longer wait worth it. :)

Changelog for upcoming 0.99.8EXP

Hi guys,

here is the changelog for the upcoming version 0.99.8.EXP.
Hope you're all enjoying the game and having fun playing it.

We didn't want to keep you waiting any longer and take advantage of your great support so therefore this version has been split up in parts. As you can see this is part A and you can expect part B to follow very shortly. Probably in less than 10 days.
For part B we are planning to get the Boyfriend route in with all choices images and animations and the same goes for the bar visits on Sundays with the wife. This will then have full replayability as well. As an extra the first week for the Farm on Saturday will be added for you.

Last time, we left you in front of the bathroom mirror with a life-changing decision. You must have had enough time to think about it by now, so let's not keep you waiting any longer to tell your wife. And just don't try to run away from your responsibility, because the bathroom door is blocked.
Okay, so you aren't literally trapped as someone is trying to get inside, but we won't tell you who and leave it up to you how to handle the situation as well.
And when you are 'free' again, you'll surely go straight to sleep, won't you? Or did you have something else in 'mind?' In any case, whatever you decide, we are sure you have a good reason for it. Think about that carefully before answering. (Added the last part of the final visit of the BF (some animations are still missing though)
Your wife wants to go to the bar to dance endlessly from now on; we hope you brought good shoes. Or maybe there is someone who can take over for a moment while you give your sore feet a rest. For those who have given Greg permission to dance with your wife, this gives at least two options. For those who haven't, there is always his FWB to help you out.
And the man in red is also eager to dance with your Michelle. Have you seen him do that before? Do you want more or less action on the dance floor, or will you have a change of heart and decide to grant his request after all? We'll leave all these options to you, surely they'll be in good hands.
You can even decide to sit and watch..after your wife has gotten her first dance from you that is. No chance to escape that one.
Oh and don't forget your wife can handle 3.0 ounces before her ehm..'naughty' side starts showing. Though we know a certain 'bar owner' who would love to see that happening. Could he even give a discount if you are in a 'generous' mood? Let's see who will pay the check tonight.
And then there is the old man waiting for his bus..we'll you keep him waiting tonight or....? Nah, no spoilers.
Speaking of waiting, try to keep your eyes open this time when your wife plays a role-play. And what kind of role will that be? There are several to choose from.(Added the final bar visit with Michelle (They are replayable but some animations are missing)

Gameplay:

Overworked the vendor minigame at the cinema, now it should be easier to get the happy end.
(Added a special scene for the Boobgame at the cinema on the Vendor route (if you have managed to help them reach several happy endings.)

Bugfixing:

Fixed some bugs in the Boobgame at the cinema
Fixed some typos
Fixed some smaller bugs

Last time we broke off this big scene at the moment Lisa left the bathroom to socialize, with you and the young man on your doorstep. What did the young lady see or hear and how will she respond? What is going on with your wife during this full moon and how do you deal with it? Are you helpful, understanding or...no, we leave that up to you. Is watching television together still safe due to the radiation? And we don't mean the one on the screen. Is Michelle the only one affected by this? Or has Scentek become a real national problem? Perhaps a news broadcast can provide more information about this? But what are you going to do with that knowledge? Are you completely yourself tonight as well? (Added the next part of the last visit of the BF (not complete yet)
We know Christmas has ended but that doesn't mean Lisa isn't hoping for more gifts. Especially if you made a deal with her she'd be happy to receive and give a bit (Added more responses when you buy her a book from the store after making the NTD)
Lisa doesn't really like doing the dishes and would be very happy if you can help her from time to time. Very happy indeed. (Added more scenes for helping her out after making the NTD)
For those who follow the client route, your wife expects a client who tells it like it is. Should she be nervous now? (Added the next scene for Michelle's Customer Route)
And speaking about that, hasn't the secretary at City Hall become a little too curious lately? (Added the next scenes at City Hall for the Trudy route)
Reworked the minigame for the Vendor at the cinema so it's easier to understand when you are ehm..winning..
