New Year Update
Hello my darlings,
As some of you may have been wondering, I am not, in fact, dead.
It's been a little over three years since I started this journey of posting my work online and I wanted to take some time away to reflect on my life and my work. Writing erotica has been some of the most fun I've ever had and I've learned a lot about writing, art, myself, self publishing, and the erotica community as a whole. I'd like to share with you some of the things I've learned, the reason for my recent absence, and where I'm currently at with moving forward.
My passion has always been to provide stories that don't shy away from the truth of what it means to be human. Some of my stories are short and sweet, some are long and brutal. Some have playful flirting, others include incestuous rape and graphic violence. I think this is where I would like to start, as this is the most controversial aspect of what I do; The Glorification of Sexual Violence.
This is the term used by websites and publishers that don't allow fictional nonconsensual sex acts on their platform. If you've read my stories, you know that sexual violence is a theme that permeates my work. I’m not going to get into the argument of ethics here, I’m just stating the fact that the world of online publishing is heavily censored (offline publishing even more so.) The reason behind this censorship is primarily paypal and large credit card companies dictating the rules of the internet because they control the flow of money, again, resisting the urge to preach… The outcome of this censorship puts my operation on an unstable foundation. Paypal, Patreon and other financial services have been shutting their doors to “sex workers” for years and the title continues to include more and more people doing things they don’t like.
I know this isn’t the only thing holding back my growth. Frequency of posting, engagement, and follow-through are all things I struggle with, but the fear of losing everything once the glowing eye of Sauron finds me, makes me feel like my struggle is ultimately futile. Does this mean I will stop writing erotica? No. Does this mean I will stop writing non-con? No. It does however mean that the sails of my little boat will be trying to catch the wind of broad online acceptance, while still staying true to my original passion mentioned above. If anything, my hope is that this will make me a better writer.
Okay, yeah but what does this mean for you, my loves, my darlings, my readers. It means I will be quarantining my current “hardcore” content to a corner of my website and my work moving forward will mostly contain the online acceptable flavor of non-con, meaning nonconsensual acts that are ultimately enjoyed by those involved. I will still continue my work in progress without changing the tone or themes but new work from me will be more vanilla in its explicit content, and include themes like questionable consent rather than pure non-con.
I think that’s all I have to say about that so let’s move on to my subscription and website changes. I’ve decided to merge my free and paid content into one site so posting isn’t such a hassle and since most of my paying supporters are here for the writing, I’ve decided to make the story art free for all (stand by for site changes.) I am also changing my Patreon billing to be pay per post, rather than pay per month. This way, supporters can have a choice of whether they want to sign up for a monthly fee or only pay when I actually post. The last two months have made it clear that I’m not always the most consistent and it wouldn’t feel as bad if members were able to opt into a pay per post system. The new Patreon is currently being reviewed and I will make a post when it’s available.
Regarding my absence, all I can say is life happens, and this being a side hustle, it takes a back seat during stressful and busy times. I’ll try my best to be more transparent in the future if I need to step away as many of you have expressed worry over my disappearance, and for that, I’m very sorry. As much fun as it has been getting to know you all and talking about smut, and art, and life, I think I need to address another elephant in the room.
From here on out I will be staying signed out of discord during the week. I will sign in to post updates and respond to posts and messages from you all but I will probably keep it short and sweet. I’m happy with the growth of the discord and it’s currently sitting at about 100 members, which is amazing. A good portion of you are very friendly and share with me a passion for erotica, art, and other things. The issue has become that I now have too many online friends to give each of you the attention you deserve and that is required to keep up a regular friendship/correspondence.
In the beginning I never thought this would be my problem. If anything, I thought I would be ignored and shunned for bad writing and weird fetishes, but the erotica community is actually an incredibly friendly and supportive place. Unfortunately, having my discord open means an endless stream of conversation, and I just don’t have it in me to ignore a message that I see come through. Most of these conversations in the beginning are me answering the same questions so I think an FAQ on the website would probably serve everyone better. I would also highly encourage you to engage in conversations on the discord as I’ve found that most of you are very like minded.
Next I’d like to discuss commissions and requests. If I’ve learned anything by this point, it’s that I don’t work well under expectations and deadlines. If I feel obligated to write something, I just simply won’t write it. Maybe that means I’m not cut out for this, I’m not sure. What I am sure about is that I won’t be taking any further commissions. As for requests, feel free to send me a request through a Ko-Fi message, and if I like your request, I will use it as inspiration. I have a good amount of Ko-Fi requests at the moment and don’t mind more, they are fun to read and give me great inspiration, just know that any request not submitted through Ko-Fi will be ignored. That’s about all I can promise.
Lastly, I would like to thank all of you who have stayed strong through the cold winter months with no food and no word. I know most of this update isn’t good news, but I’m hoping these changes will mean more content in the long run. Please feel free to comment and I will try to answer any questions I have for the future.
