Coming back, going free
My dear (and incredibly loyal) subscribers,
If I had even a fleeing suspicion about all the distractions heading my way when I started this site last April, I would have probably delayed it. In retrospect I’m glad I didn’t, because it helped weathering the storm financially quite a lot, not even mentioning the great conversations I had with some of you. But I also made promises I failed to deliver on time again and again, and that is still a heavy burden on my conscience.
This is what will happen now.
- I have set up a free subscriber tier. All upcoming posts will be available for this tier until I feel like I compensated you for the delays. You are all welcome to switch to it now. (Free members will lose access to already published stories, though).
- The $5 tier retains access to the previously published stories and the $10 tier retains voting rights, so nothing changes there. However…
- I not only ask but outright implore the $25 tier members (my commissioners) to drop down that tier immediately. I’m owing you so many stories already, please don’t pay me for more until I deliver them! Furthermore, I’d actually like to remove that tier for good and take only one-off commissions from then on, if and when I have the time for them. Unfortunately, however, SubscribeStar doesn’t allow a tier to be removed as long as there are any members in it.
The point is, my highest priority right now is not making money but catching up with myself and working out a schedule I can keep.
The idea is the following:
- I’ve launched a new mini-series called Sinners that is focused on the seven cardinal sins. There will be seven voting sessions (Pride, Greed, Gluttony, Lust, Envy, Sloth and Wrath) where you can decide what is the best way, in your opinion, to penalize that vice. Along with a prologue and an epilogue that will make nine chapters, just long enough to be published as an ebook.
- I now have an artwork pipeline producing results I actually like (one example is the one I made for the cover of Sinners), but it’s still rather slow (4-6 hours per image). You can probably expect some stories to be published with smaller monochrome illustrations rather than with full-blown color artworks - I’m a copywriter by trade, after all. The purpose of my images should be to convey an atmosphere rather than to provide an artistic value on their own, especially if the latter demands more time than what I can feasibly invest into them.
- I also experimented around with AI generated NSFW art. The tools are improving quickly, but the results they provide are still too generic. Even worse, AI still sucks at understanding the contorted poses BDSM art often requires. That said, I now have a couple dozen interesting images that will allow me to take some detours from the main profile of the site and publish some flash fiction pieces more in line with my old BDSMLR work.
I guess that will be all for now. The voting post for Pride will be up shortly, and then I’ll be answering your private messages at last.
