Following the Cloud Storage purge and the need to alter the game retrospectively at the end of last month, I have built a "White Phantom Games Launcher" in order to securely download the game, and update the game in the future, without the problems that individual links have been given me in the past.
I've written a full post about it on my website:
https://whitephantomgames.co.uk/news/launcher-released/
Download it here:
https://whitephantomgames.co.uk/launcher/
You simply connect to it with your SubscribeStar login, and then it will let you download the game and update it in future.
It's just a downloader, once you have downloaded the game, you don't need to remain signed in order to play, and you get the game folder just as you would have done if had downloaded via Media or Google in the past.

You can read all about it on my website, and I've made the code publicly available here:
https://github.com/WP-Games/wpg-launcher just in case anybody is worried about anything it doing anything harmful.

Thanks for all the new and continued support,

That's the kind of tech that in theory makes it possible to serve individual game versions tied to the subscribestar account tracking individual downloads.
I am not saying that this is the case here. Just that it could be. Now or in the future.
No thanks.
I've made the code behind it available, so you can see it isn't that.
What's the fear here though even if I did make it so that "Subscriber 11 gets "Subscriber 11's Version of the Game""?
That seems an enormous amount of work for the developer, and I can't see the benefit?
I'd need to pull even more information from the API, I'd need to have a server or machine repackaging the game per build on request rather than a static download, it would cost a load of money and I can't see why I'd ever want to do that?
If it's a "privacy" thing, I'm not really sure how that information would be beneficial or harmful?
In that scenario, I'd just know you downloaded the game? Which is kind of what I presume happens to all the subscriber's information when I release an update anyway? And I already get subscriber info as part of your subscription?
The only niche case I can see for this is Subscriber X is a pirate who subscribes and then shares the game with other pirates, and doing what you've implied would mean "Subscriber X's Version" of the game was on the pirate site, and then the Developer could perma-ban Subscriber X and it would crack down on piracy that way.
But that's a hell of a lot of work to do that, and Subscriber X could just create a new account as Subscriber Y and start subscribing -> sharing -> deleting account on each release/game they wanted to pirate?
All that would do is block pirates who just used one account for everything, which I don't think is what they do, so I can't even see it being an effective anti-piracy tool?
Again, this doesn't have that capability, the API tells you exactly the info it's drawing, and everybody pulls from the same source - I'm not understanding why you're worried about what effectively would just be a developer being notified "Subscriber X downloaded Game v.x.x.x"?
