Weekly Update: 1 November, 2026

Hey everyone! It's that time again! ❤️
This week's been a pretty big one, both in development and for Rivers of Astrum itself. So let's get into it!

The Biggest Animation Block Is DONE!

This week finally saw me clearing the largest animation block of the upcoming update!
Not the only animation block, mind you, but definitely the biggest. And it's now fully implemented in-game and functioning as intended.
I've been playtesting it as I go, and ... it's all very attractive, if I do say so myself. 😏
Of course, the downside to weeks spent buried in animation work is that there's not always a whole lot to talk about.
I could tell you I finished a bunch of animations, got them into the game, and am now moving on to more animations, but that doesn't exactly make for riveting reading. 😂
Still, getting this particular chunk finished feels really good.

We Hit Very Positive on Steam! ❤️

This one's exciting!
Rivers of Astrum: Daughter of Darkness has officially crossed an important threshold on Steam, and we're now sitting at Very Positive in the user reviews!
That's a pretty big milestone for the game, and I want to thank everyone who's taken the time to leave a review.
Seriously. Whether it's a few sentences or a full breakdown of your experience, those reviews help tremendously. They make it easier for new players to discover the game, and they mean a lot to me personally.
So, thank you. ❤️❤️❤️

Getting to Know the Queensguard

Now, this next part is something I'm particularly excited about.
We're moving into a segment of the scene that gives us a little more opportunity to discover who the Queensguard are, not just as soldiers, but as people.
That's always been one of my favorite parts of working on Rivers of Astrum. I love getting into the little moments that make these characters feel like actual people, with their own personalities, relationships, and quirks.
And we've got some fun stuff coming up on that front. :)
A Little Friendly Competition...
Oh! We're also getting a new mini-game in this scene!
I'm not going to spoil too much about it just yet, but I think it adds a fun little bit of friendly rivalry to the proceedings. 😁
And, as always, the mini-game filter will control it, so if mini-games aren't your thing, you won't be forced to play it.
What's Next?
For now, it's back into the animation trenches!
Once we're through the heavier animation work, these updates should get a little meatier again. There'll be more variety in what I'm working on, and consequently more interesting things to show you.
Until then, I'll keep plugging away!
As always, if you've got questions about the game or development, feel free to ask. I love hearing from you guys.
Thanks for being here, and thanks for supporting Rivers of Astrum! ❤️
